I'm not really sure what happened with Shine On Boston - I used them two years ago and they were fantastic. On time, affordable and did a great job. Today, that wasn't the case. Still on time and affordable but the job was done poorly and I had to do far more rework than one would like. The shower doors were left covered in mildew. Toothpaste still on the sink. Blinds covered in dust and surfaces just not cleaned period. I asked for a deep clean and the women that showed up understood that and pretty much nothing else out of my mouth. They were careless in dragging furniture across hardwood floors and the language barrier between the cleaners and I made it a challenging situation to communicate about these areas done. Update to original review: I asked Shine On to come back after a not so great clean the first time and they did an amazing job. The condo is spotless - they were in and out in one hour with a team of 3. I was able to communicate effectively on areas of focus and they did an awesome job. Will definitely be making this more of a routine cleaning and I look forward to having them clean my home again. read more

Our friend recommended this company to us, saying they offer great move-in cleaning. However, maybe the company send over different cleaners to us? There were two cleaners, no face coverings at all, and they took a quick look at our house and said they need at least 3.5 hours. The house is already cleaned by the previous owner and it's in awesome condition, except kitchen and attic. So I extended the cleaning hours from 2hrs to 3hrs and told them to work first on bathrooms and kitchen, then attic. If they don't have time for bedrooms, we're fine with that. When I came back to the house after almost 3hrs, they were still working in the kitchen, and I found numerous hairs/dust in attic. When I told them the attic is not cleaned yet, the lady simply said that's all she could do because we only had three hours scheduled. Does that mean they spent three hours and didn't even finish attic? Bedrooms were already pretty clean even before they came, so I couldn't tell if they cleaned it or not. Also, they were wearing shoes on carpets AFTER they cleaned them, even as an owner I took off my shoes. That's another indicator which made me feel it's not cleaned at all. Last but not least, I think they used too much water to wipe the socket so the power automatically shut down. We had to put them up again. Then we decided to clean the carpet ourselves when they left. Chris as the owner is responsive and easy to talk to. Maybe I'm just unlucky this time? My pictures back up this review. And let me start by saying I truly believe Chris, the owner, has good intentions as he was available the entire time during this process. Unfortunately, I think there is a major difference between a deep clean and a weekly clean. We asked for the deep clean. huge job - 4500 sq ft. We were up front about the scale of the job and we were assured they could handle it. They could not. The bottom line is I needed attention to detail as there are 30 cabinet/drawers in the kitchen. Half were clean, half were not even looked at (see the pics) I paid over $800 for 3 people to clean for 8 hours. When they were done the kitchen was absolutely disgusting. Chris attempted to make this right by discounting another cleaning we had scheduled at our old apartment. That occurred today and was equally as poor. Very very disappointed, had to clean additional 2 hours in the kitchen alone and out almost $950. Find a real cleaning service if you need a deep clean. read more

Had shine on come to clean my house. They were told to focus on the floors and bathrooms. When they left-the rugs were never vacuumed leaving wool pills everywhere. My daughter had spit up on the wood floor and that was still there when they left. The bathroom floor still had water spots and dirt along the heat exchange and the coffee table had finger prints all over it. When I emailed to complain the rep told me they would send someone else out. I talked it over with my husband and when I emailed them back to agree to a revisit they told me we waited too long to get back to them and "at this point your house is dirty again"...not what you expect for customer service. We used Shine On for about a year and a half. Things went really well at first and we were happy with the service, but things went downhill. We spent a few months trying to work things out. Chris was always very responsive and apologetic that we weren't happy, but the cleanings never improved. The floors weren't clean, which was my biggest complaint. I understand that things need to be moved in order to clean, but so many items weren't put back. We often found things in a completely different room. Dirty dishes were stacked in the dish rack, so we had to re-clean the dish rack itself. Lights were left on after almost every cleaning. Our team came on Thursdays, so if we were away for a long weekend we'd have many lights on for days.The team also did many tasks we asked them not to do, like refold blankets and towels that were already on shelves in the way we liked. I realize some of these are picky, but I feel like if I'm paying for a service it should be done the way I ask. read more

We recently purchased an older home outside of the city. Before we moved in, we had some minor interior work done (painting, etc). I searched Yelp for highly recommended companies and received a few bids, but Shine On's owner, Chris, got back to me first and was accommodating, so we went with them. I explained to him that we needed post-construction cleaning. Chris estimated it would take two people 4.5 hours and about $300, which is decent for a really thorough cleaning. It was terrible. They sent two men, one of which had no idea how to clean. He told me he was a painter and gave me his business card. The 'cleaners' split the house in two, so that when they left, literally one one side of the house was (remotely) clean. The other side hadn't been touched, and I'm not just talking the tough-to-clean construction dust-which I fully understand can be a challenge. There was caked soap in all of the showers, dull water spots on all of the faucets and fixtures indicating that they were not touched at all. Every windowsill, doorsill, mantel, or horizontal edge was covered in dust (thank God we hadn't had furniture moved in yet). The cleaners were here for 3, not 4.5 hours. I wish I had walked through the house before they left, but naively, I paid them and walked through afterward. I'm a big, 'you-get-what-you-pay-for' kind of person and for the price (same price, but less time??), expected a thorough job. I texted Chris immediately after walking through it and he said someone could come back the following day. The same gentleman who clearly could not clean returned with a manager who said he was going to teach him since he was new. I'm all about being patient and having someone new learn in the beginning, however, I am also a small business owner. I would never send a brand new employee out to a big job and expect that it be done correctly without proper training. It's unfair to the new employee AND the paying client. If this were my business, I would have reimbursed the client for using their time (and dime) to train a new employee, but that was not the case. Even after the manager and new employee left for the second time, I had to scrub the rest of the house. We recently hired a highly recommended company for regular cleanings and everything is gleaming. The cleaners are incredibly efficient, thorough and the price point is fair and competitive. The house looks incredible after they leave which was not the case even after the second visit from Shine On. One last note--make sure the cleaning company you hire is bonded and insured. It helps to guarantee their work and you're covered. I don't believe Shine On is bonded or insured from visiting their website. read more

Our friend purchased a full house clean for us prior to our leaving for our out-of-state wedding. It was SO amazing to come home to the incredible work of the Shine on Boston crew!! They cleaned things that I didn't even know needed to be cleaned! I am talking eat off the floors level of clean, with even the rims on the flour and coffee canisters being spotless. They work quickly but do not miss anything. It has been a week and a half since they left and our house still looks spotless. In need of someone to make it spotless before my fastidious grandmother comes to visit for the weekend, I found Shine On, and I'm thrilled with how our apt looks. Floors are thoroughly cleansed, the fridge has never looked so shiny, and not a speck of dust left in the place. Chris, the owner, is really easy to communicate with, and scheduling is easy. For a 2 bedroom initial clean, it's $125 for 2.5 hours ($25/hour for each person he brings), but I think the biweekly rate for a place of our size is $95. BUT unfortunately I had to pay as much as I paid for the cleaning service for repairing the damages the cleaning team caused unintentionally. I really hoped ShineOn Boston would be the cleaning company for me. 11/29 Are you accusing me of lying now? And you don't have any record of "a Shirin" too? This isn't great costumer service, is it? And you want me to believe that you'd have taken care of the damages if I'd called? Based on your comment, I don't think you would've. I love Shine On! I can't remember how I found Chris and his crew but it has changed my life :-). They clean my one BR in Back Bay once/month. Chris contacts me a week or two in advance by email to schedule it, which is perfect for me. I'm never there when they come and I trust them completely. My apt looks new when I come home, and my sheets are even changed....towels are crisply folded on the rods and they even do a little rose origami thing with the bath tissue! They did okay. The previous renters weren't exceptionally dirty, and the place was just about empty. I arrived after the cleaning was done (boyfriend let them in and paid them). It took them (2 cleaners) about an hour, booking was easy to do online, and they were on time. But there was a lot of grime left on the stove top, and in corners on the floor, and the inside of the under kitchen cabinet wasn't touched. I get that the stove top wasn't easy, because the grime was probably baked in a bit, and the under kitchen cabinet wasn't very easy either. But it's a move in clean and the entire point of a move in clean is to really get stuff like that. I can run a mop over an empty floor myself in two seconds, you know? It's great that they were so quick but I would have much rather they stayed the extra time to really get the place clean. read more

He is easy to reach and has professional cleaning crew. They are always on time and pay attention to detail with their cleaning job. We have 2 pets, a dog and a cat, and they are great on cleaning all the fur on our couch, underneath the couch, carpets and blinds. The most importantly, they do an extremely amazing job on cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom. I used Shine On to clean my new apartment before I moved in. The place was empty so it didnt take them long. They have a minimum charge for 1.5 hours and it took less time than that but I was happy to pay the rate (I have a studio). I changed the appointment time, multiple times and Chris was very accomodating. The cleaners were ahead of schedule and they called ahead of time. Chris also gave me their minimum charge. The two guys who came were friendly and offered to text me when they were finished so I could leave for a bit. They followed my instructions for the most part. The only reason I am giving 4 out of 5 is that the the windowsills and base boards were still dusty but the floor was spotless and I asked them to "give the tub/bathroom hell" and it was very clean. We use Shine On at my retail store location on Newbury Street. I wish I could go to the highest mountain top and scream "SHINE ON IS THE BEST". Chris and his team are extremely reliable, professional and just such an all around friendly team. I first used Shine On back one day in May when I found out at 6pm that I needed to book a cleaner for the store the next morning.
