I took a car to Shine Detail a few years ago and they performed an exterior paint correction and sealant application and I wrote a nice review (I will note I had already clayed and buffed the car with an aggressive cleaner and polish, so it looked pretty good to begin with). I recently acquired another used car and Cody quoted me $450-500 for a similar treatment. He said he could also have a body shop price out the cost to repaint a couple of trim strips on the roof, while the car was being detailed, and that he would call me with the price before starting. I happened to drop in while the correction/sealant work was underway only to find out the body shop person had already removed the trim strips from the roof of the car without any authorization from me nor a call from Cody as promised to give me a price. I was upset and asked that they remount the trim strips because the price to repaint them was $450-$500, way more than I wanted to spend for a cosmetic item. When the exterior detailing job was done, Cody said I owed $550. I reminded him of his original quote of $450-500. He said he quotes a lot of cars and didn't remember (maybe better to write the bid down on a card and give it to the customer at the time of the bid). He agreed to $500. Then a few days after picking up the car I noticed the roof covered with a haze of swirl marks all over the clearcoat. I asked Cody about this and he said he paint corrected the hood and trunk, but not the roof because it was "not that visible" and he was trying to keep the cost down. My response was it was very visible, that he bid the job for the entire car without any exceptions for the roof panel, so I assumed this included the needed paint correction. I asked that he correct this condition as part of the original job but he refused. He said he could correct it, but wanted another $100. He said he wanted a happy customer but apparently was not willing to spend an extra hour to complete the job to make me happy without asking for more money. It's not a good idea in my mind to make customers think you are doing an entire car, then skip a major panel without telling them. So between asking for more money than he had originally quoted, removing the trim strips without prior approval and then skipping the paint correction on a major panel, I will not be using his services anymore. read more

Cody took care of some light scratches on my car and made it look brand new again!! He took the time to explain how he planned on removing the scratches and the products he would detail my car with. You can tell Cody is a master of his trade. Top of the line service and very reasonably priced, I will be returning to have him detail my car again in the future! read more

Well, somehow I missed the memo that cars need waxing to protect their finish ‍ my poor 2013 Tesla hadn't been waxed in about 4 years and so when bird droppings fell on the hood, they reacted with the finish and turned a bright orange! Not being careful and researching how to remove it safely, I used a green and yellow sponge, abrasive side down, and scrubbed it off once I got out into the sunlight, I could see all the scratches I had put into the finish. Still I didn't know wax was needed so then another bird came along with the same reaction. Finally a male friend noticed this disaster happening and began my education. He used a wax buffer to make it look a lot better and that held me over until I could find the pro's at Shine Detail. I first brought my daughters 2014 Honda Civic and they worked on it all day to get it ready for her drive back to college. It looked amazing and thoroughly moisturized all rubber/plastics and waxed paint so that it was now protected for parking outside for the next year. Then I brought my Tesla and they took a full 3 days to make it look like new!! I got a ceramic coating put on so my tendency to forget about maintenance won't be an issue (for my car at least. :)) Cody and Devin and the whole team are artists, perfectionists, love what they do and the ultimate in over delivering on their promises. Based on the reviews below, perhaps I caught this place on a bad day, but I was completely underwhelmed with the detail job I received here. My main concern was getting an interior detail--I have cloth seats and they needed to be shampooed, BAD. However, he insisted that I get an exterior detail as well. It was extra money, but I figured whatever, why not--still stressing that my main concern was with the interior. He had my car for over 3 hours and while the outside looked great, that wasn't even my main purpose for getting this service. When I looked inside, the carpets and seats had been shampooed and taken care of, but other interior elements were absolutely not up to par. There was dust in crevices that could have easily been removed with a q-tip or another detail-oriented item. There was gunk in my cup holder, which he claimed to have been unable to remove with anything he had available. I got home and took care of it with some Goo-Gone in under 3 minutes. I know my criteria for interior detail seems to be pretty anal, but to me, the main point of a detail--and paying someone that much money--is for them to pay attention to the details of the vehicle, rather than just doing a simple wash, which is what it felt like I received minus the fact that they shampooed. At the end of the day, I judge a detail job by this: if I see the work and feel as though I could have done a better job myself, I'm not impressed. The guy was incredibly nice and I still tipped him like $25 bucks (I believe in good tipping karma), but at the end of the day, the actual work just wasn't quite up to par for me. read more

Our BMW 550, that I worked so hard to purchase, arrived on a car transport after a cross country trip caked in dirt and covered in grease and oil that dropped from a car above. To say the least, I was irate. I went Cody immediately, based on yelp reviews, and he addressed the grease issue immediately, in between appointments. I messaged the business last Friday (10/13/17) about a quote and I was able to bring my Dodge Charger by that afternoon for Cody to take a look at to get a better idea for servicing. I was given an estimate and they were able to schedule an appointment the following day. Even though it was a Saturday, I dropped off my car promptly @ 8:30am and they were done with it by lunch. Based on a need to make my vehicles last in our coastal climate, I took Cody's advice on applying a "paint sealer" to my new vehicle. It not only looks amazing, but really makes the shine last between washings, truly providing protection to the paint! When it is time to wash it, the road filth sprays right off.
