We had dinner here the other evening. There isn't a lot of parking out front but they have another lot for more parking. The restaurant is quaint but charming. We started with an order of mixed tempura. It was a large portion and so crispy and delicious. A great way to start. We also got some miso soup. The regular miso soup had a lot of scallions in it, which I love. We also got a clam miso soup which had a lot of clams in the shell. For drinks, we ordered a few cocktails. The Japanese Highball and the Lychee Tini were both perfect. They were blended so well and just absolutely smooth. We decided on a sushi roll. We got the James Mulligan which I think light be named after my friends brother. The yellowtail and tuna were so fresh. The bento box was next. We got a half a California roll, tempura, rice, cucumber salad, chicken karaage and salad. The karaage was so good. The outside was crispy and the chicken on the inside was tender and so flavorful. The yuzu wasabi dressing we got for the salad needs to be sold. It was just addicting. Speaking of addicting, the ghost dip ramen is totally addicting. They toast mini marshmallows tableside and add it to the dashi. The caramelized sugar takes the dashi to a whole new level. I am still thinking about that dashi. Unassuming spot at an intersection we all zoom through more than we can count. I'd describe this as easy yet delicious. I went with the Shin ramen which is part pork and part chicken broth. Savory yumminess. The waitress was adorable with a beautiful smile making the place much warmer than I'd expect. Service was QUICK. I'm talking the order was at my table within 5 minutes. Holy moly. This review comes after me deleting a previous review of a bad experience I had with a worker here for overcharging me and trying to steal my change. The owner reached out to me afterwards and wanted to refund and offer a discounted meal/free meal on the house. The parking to this location is a little difficult and not a lot in the front but they do have a back area. The server we had was super nice we did go in before 9pm so there was just us and another table so the service was good and she was really nice. The food was good and came out at a reasonable time. For 3 of us to eat with 2 beers was around $80 dollars which I feel is a reasonable price for the amount of food we got. They do have a pretty good amount of seating available they also do have TVs if you like watching sports. We liked the food and service and would go back if we were in town again. read more

I've eaten here quite a few times. I've tried their ramen and sushi. For the price I would recommend going to Sushistop instead it was not very appetizing. The service was fine. The fire ramen had very few toppings you have to pay to add so I would recommend Jinya which is my favorite and walking distance. I will try again maybe they have updated some things. We popped into Shin before watching Wicked for date night and WOW. The rolls were so fresh, beautifully plated, and honestly just hit every craving I didn't even know I had. We ordered a couple different rolls -- the rock shrimp roll came out perfectly golden, fried and creamy, with just the right amount of sauce (not drowning in it, thankfully). The shrimp tempura roll was topped with a generous heap of bright orange masago that gave the best little pop with every bite. Both were balanced, savory, and super satisfying without feeling heavy. Service was friendly, the sake came out piping hot, and everything arrived quickly. The ambiance is cozy in that classic neighborhood-way -- dim lighting, warm tones, and that comforting sound of the kitchen. Food was the biggest disappointment: bland yuzu ramen, a tiny lobster roll with barely any meat, overly sweet edamame, and a bento box that tasted more like BBQ than teriyaki. My niece didn't eat her ramen at all, and we ended up getting pizza next door afterward. Overall, the dining experience lacked flavor, cleanliness, and proper service. The parking is a bit of a gamble, since they share it with quite a few other businesses, but we managed because we came during slow dining hours. Their takoyaki is SUPER crispy and they keep their hot sake in a water bath at your table to maintain its temperature. It was easy to make a reservation on Open Table for Shin and when we got in on an early Saturday evening, it was not too crowded and the service was excellent from the moment we walked in. The food was really excellent and reasonably priced. There are TVs within view of all the seats which were also nice for sports fans who don't want to miss a game too. Favorites: the salmon nigiri was amazingly smooth, the Madelyn roll with salmon, avocado, cucumber, crunchy, tuna, ponzu, green onions.. I'm honestly not even a ramen fan BUT- the Ghost Dip. Speechless. Thick noodles with a touch of truffle, original broth but with added cream and mushroom..the flavor, the richness..I cannot suggest it enough. I came here a few years ago, loved it, and came back to see if I was correct. Spoiler alert: I was. Starting off with the surprising entry: the New York cheesecake. This whole mini cheesecake with raspberry sauce (complete with raspberry chunks and whipped cream) is the only boyfriend I'll ever need. Moving on to the ramen section, the dipping ramens had the perfect amount of broth to noodle ratio, and the thick noodles pack a delicious addicting texture. Zebra dip: Garlicky, warm, and perfect with some onsen tamago and sweet corn, this ramen made a lovely creaming pairing with Chashu pork. Would get again. Shin dip: tangy, buttery, and inviting to the tongue, this pork and chicken combo ramen with sweet sauce was a beautiful end to a cold (relatively) Los Angeles day. Gyoza: warm, soft, and seasoned, these gyoza hold up against the likes of Morimoto and Din Tai Fung with ease and grace.
