    Chai latte and honey cake
    Laura E.

Craving a sweet treat I popped into Shiloh on a Sunday afternoon. I've read about this place and wanted to try it out but couldn't find it last time (i have no idea how but whatever). Ordered a Chai Latte with soymilk (no extra charge for plant milk which is already a good sign) and a honey cake. They don't have a huge variety of sweet (when I went they only had three options) but also the savoury food looked delicious and I am definitely going to try that soon! My Chai was good, made with a standard tea bag and soymilk but still good and the cake was tasty as well, and not too dry. Friendly service, not the cosiest interior but perfect for a quick coffee or lunch and very moderate prices (2,80€ for my Chai and same price for the cake). I am coming back :)

Hummus, olives, eggplant, pappadum and fresh ginger tea
    Kaylee H.

I fancy myself a hummus expert. I produce and consume vast amounts of it. I have never experience hummus as delicious as Keren's at Shiloh. In fact, I went there initially because I read a review saying "try the hummus", but I could not have been ready for what I ate. Thankfully, for those of us who's stomachs hurt if something's not gluten free (curses!!!!), Keren provides pappadum. I've now been twice and tried hummus with eggplant stew and fried cauliflower, and whatever way you dress it up, this hummus is king. Not to mention, Keren is about the sweetest woman I've met, taking such pride in her Cafe, her food, her customers. Highly recommend checking out this neighbourhood gem.

Enjoyed my hummus falafel platter all vegan
    Vanessa C.

I really enjoyed my vegan hummus and falafel platter- the hummus could have used a bit more zippy lemon but otherwise a nice meal. - clean spot nice waitress - a bit slow service as she was the only one preparing the food -but enjoyed the fresh ginger mint lemon tea while we waited.

Definitely recommend. Large, great outdoor dining patio with a bustling inside dining room especially as the night wore on after 7PM and it started to cool down. 4 of us - Food was excellent, large portions, flavors spot on, cooked to right temperature and only asked about the salmon not being overcooked but all of our plates were prepared perfectly! Complimentary crusty warm darker, thin sliced bread, served right away. You need to ask for Olive Oil and Balsamic and they were quality bottles. We were denied first of all...however, Alberto our server has a very dry sense of humor and will kid you throughout dinner. Eventually the bottles appeared seemingly from his side. He also assured us loudly that there were no smokers and smoking was not allowed anywhere when I asked him, as, I could smell smoke. Unfortunately, I believed him as he announced it so loudly, with EVERYone was looking at us lol. Duh, it's Europe where smoking is still somewhat kosher. Smokers use the patio freely and it does destroy the airy eating experience if you happen to have a chimney stack in your vicinity...thus was the case for us tonight. DINNER -Grilled Salmon 26 EU was crispy seared on both sides while most in the middle, raw spinach, small roast potatoes -Spinach Ricotta Cannelloni 18 EU - about 7 al dente 3/4" round x 5" long tubes, topped with dark grilled cheese, basil, tomatoes. -even the 4,90 EU side salad with raddichio, anise and a vinaigrette that literally comes as your side when the hot food arrives so be sure to ask for it at the beginning if you like it to start. -Friends' Scallopina Pepeverde pork medallions 23 EU cooked just pink, creamy and was delicious she reported, as was their Tagliatelle Fruiti de Mare 18,90 EU. Traditional Negroni 8,90 EU was well balanced and just what hubby wanted. 5,60 EU 0.5L (16.9 US oz) Berliner Pilsner, 10,90 EU Gin+Tonic Note Restrooms are downstairs. Frosted glass doored with individual sinks in each and shared by all, they were clean; unsure if there is an elevator for less mobile peeps. And...Alberto will also Hound you for a tip, announcing again loudly that your bill includes No TIps, lol ?!!

What a magnificant find!…read more This place is a "must visit" on any chocolate tour and while I suggest it be your last stop, that is only because I think you should keep this for the crowning glory and keep the chocolate out of the heat and sun if possible. With everything from Anedei to Domori to other exotic chocolates, this is the place to go if you want to find quality chocolate. They have everything from inexpensive to very expensive but it is all top quality. This shop is quite a walk from the nearest underground subway stop of Oranienburger Str. but by quite a walk I mean 5 minutes past some of the best looking shops. There was even a kosher bakery on my journey. Upon arriving there were already two women who I had seen wander in to the shop ahead of me. I soaked up the chocolate heaven while they were served and the brilliant women running the shop that day helped me by bean, acidity and region, finding me the perfect bars of chocolate. For someone like me who is passionate about chocolate to say you MUST go here, you know that this, above all else, is a shop you must go to for chocolate in Berlin.

DECIDEDLY OVER-RATED!…read more Lunch, 30June2018. Hands-down delicious, multi-courses food, in a pleasant environment...except that this is the sort of place that you would dine, just before hanging yourself! No music, just the click-clack of cutlery against plates, and the drone of aged voices speaking of "Boards" and "tech". Why a place like this exists in Mitte is perplexing. Then again, it's Berlin, an odd mixture of old, new, and things that are buried but all too visible. Ah, the cherry-focused dessert has been delivered, with shock-frozen yoghurt pearls. All is well with the world once more, here in Europe, far away from Donald Dumb and his court of Dummies. I retuned to the Pauly Saal bar later today after a very satisfying dinner at Night Kitchen only to be poured a 5oz Chardonnay at Eur10! Recommend you skip this joint and head elsewhere to Night Kitchen where the food is more satisfying, less expensive, and the wine pours are more generous, thereby beckoning you to return to Night Kitchen. Additionally, at least one of the bartenders (specifically the dude with sleeves) is a major a-hole (beyond rude) maybe it's a homo phobic thing. Maybe he just a jerk. I don't need to pay for attitude, thank you [end]

What a phenomenal surprise during my brief stay in Berlin...!…read more Pauly is a Michelin-rated restaurant, and it certainly is classy and a little pricey but SO worth it, and not stuffy at all. We came on a local's recommendation, and it was a great one. We dined in a lovely courtyard behind the main building/entrance. The service was incredible, and the sommelier was a true gentleman and expert at his craft. He paired our meal delightfully and without breaking the bank. Service was wonderful, and paced well. Each course came out in good timing, and we never waited long for anything. There was always something to nibble on at the table, even between the more substantial entrees. Each course was better than the one before it, and the ingredients were creatively integrated and used (mackerel "chips"?? Rhubarb 4 ways for dessert?! AWESOME!). The plating was sublime, and the presentation, as you can see in the photo my friend put together from our evening, was total art. The rundown, from the photo: Clockwise: bread basket, deconstructed cucumber soup amuse-bouche, mussel chips with mackeral and strawberry, wild zucchini with risotto and corn foam, ox cheek with potato coins, rhubarb four ways for dessert, chef's gift of gold macarons and "coal" ice cream, and the brave survivors. :-) We enjoyed the flavors and even a few little surprises from the kitchen, chef's treat...so much fun to dine here! We had an experience, both in flavor and in the dining setting, that none of us will soon forget. German dining in style, for sure. And yes, smoking is allowed in Europe, for the other reviewers that were harsh about that, it's a cultural misunderstanding I guess...really not a problem in our group's opinion, and we had several Americans in tow. Can't wait to visit again in the near future...!
