Not too long ago, you would never get me to eat Chinese food in a foodcourt. I've had way too many horrible-to-mention encounters with other places like this in foodcourts. So I had vowed never again. For me to eat Chinese in a foodcourt, I have to be starving or suffering an uncontrollable craving for Chinese food. The day I gave in, I was starving and yes, I was madly craving Chinese quick-fix.
Walking past Shiki Oriental, the buffet table could not be more inviting. The brightly lit food, the variety... My mouth began to water. I piled plenty of food on my medium ($9.90) sized plate. For the prawn crackers that wouldn't balance atop my mountain of Chinese food, I laid them on my napkin on the tray. Yep, I'm a bit too cheap to pay for the large ($11.90), even if my food is spilling off the plate. With any sized plate you get, you are allowed a full cup of Chicken & Sweet Corn Soup and 2 Spring Rolls. Woohoo! I took full of advantage of that. At this point... All it is, is a balancing act to get to the counter without the lady suspecting I've gone over board. She looked at me funny, but she must have noticed my hunger pains on my face- God, I was starving- and she let me pay for my extremely-past-the-limit medium sized plate.
I ate... And I ate... And I ate. Holy crap, I finished the entire plate! In all my experience with Chinese food, this has never happened. I often feel sick a quarter of the way through, but with Shiki Oriental, I felt on top of the world. I ate my Honey Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Spring Rolls, Stir Fried Veg and Chicken & Sweet Corn soup all up. It was delicious. Best of all, I continued shopping without getting ill. Win! read more
