Why lie to me? I took my car in because I wanted an overall inspection and to determine why the fan wasn't working. i was told that the relay (brand new) the I installed before was defective and the fan was working when his relay was installed. I've since tried 2 other models of relays that were tested to work fine, and found that the fan still didn't work! I ended up hot wiring the relay (temporarily) to turn the fan relay on/off until I can replace the bad connector under the fuse box (basically, no relay on the planet would have worked in it, so why lie to me and say it worked & waste hours of my time and the parts store's time monkeying around based on what I thought was the truth?). The only thing I can't stand more than a bad mechanic is a lying one. If you can't diagnose (basic) car electronics, you shouldn't be a car mechanic! read more

They were very nice to deal with, however I choose them because they were supposed to be $30 cheaper an hour for services, but charged double for parts claiming that they warranty the parts for 2 years when I paid for that part 2 times over. I am all about making money but they didn't fix my car which was the whole reason for taking it in there because they were going to have to order the part and then they did the oil change before calling and affirming that I agree to all the charges which I would not have had them do since they could not fix my car and were $30 more expensive for the oil change. $440 for a set of rotors and an oil change. Nov. 20th 2017 I Was looking for a mechanic for my daughter's car, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. With all the positive reviews I decided to give them a shot. My daughter works full time & is a full time student so getting her car back on the road quickly was very important. They got her car in quickly. They ran diagnostic & did some trouble shooting & found the problem. Had her car up & running the next day. I was impressed with how Honest, professional & talented they are. Most shops would have had us wait longer, not had the expertise to accurately diagnose the issue & just thrown marked up parts on the car till the problem went away. I wouldn't have known & would have paid the price with out the intention of ever returning. Instead I got an explanation of what the issues were, what they did to correct it without needing to buy new parts & very fair repair bill. When things goes wrong with her car again I will definitely bring it back to Shields Service. 2nd Bidet 1/3/2018 Honest, professional & talented. Thats how I describe Shield Service. 1st Week of the New Year didn't start off well with bitter cold & my reliable Camry deciding to die & not restart for me. After the positive experience I had with the repair of my daughter's car Nov. 2017 I didn't hesitate with having it towed there from Shelbyville Ky (26+ miles away) Due to the friged cold it took AAA 10 Hrs to pick up my car & put a back log on Shields as well. I had realistic expectations & wasn't bothered it took 3 days to get my car fixed. That's faster turn around then I experienced at other larger shops . This place is right by our house and we thought we would give it a try. They charged my husband for almost $300 in labor for squeaky brakes on a Nissan Altima! No parts just labor. They didn't replace the breaks, just said they were dirty. When my husband picked up his car they were already closed for the weekend. He drove off and the squeaky noise was still there! They charged us $300 to fix nothing. He called back today and all the guy said was "sorry" and that he can bring it back in to replace the break pads (which they told him has 50% life left). My husband asked if they would charge full price and the employee said yes. They never once said bring it back in and we will take another look or anything. We got robbed in my opinion. I would HIGHLY not recommend this place even to my worst enemy! read more

Took my car in for an alternator replacement. 100% markup on a rebuilt alternator. In the process of replacing the alternator, the technician broke my radiator. So, they replaced my radiator at their cost for the part. Like they're doing me a favor. They should have replaced it free since they broke the original. I researched the replacement radiator online. I found it about $50 cheaper. Oh, and almost $600 in labor. They're always friendly and professional, but expensive. Do your homework to make sure you're getting value. read more

My family and I have gone to them for over 15 years. This last experience with John, the owner, has completely left us to find another mechanic. I took my Honda in to get an oil change, tire rotation, brake fluid flush, and serpentine belt changed. John told me: "Including the cost of the belts, it'll run about $165." I agreed to the price and when I came to pick it up later that day, the price was $330! I had to come back the following day to speak with John about the egregious difference in price. He told me the quote he gave me did not include the cost of the belts; however, the estimate in the computer remained $165. Their mistake was not calling and confirming this price in the first place. John's offer to fix this situation was to 1.) take the belts back. Or 2.) A free oil change. This was the most disrespectful offer imaginable. I told him I would be willing to pay the estimate cost, but he said "I can't just give you the belts." They have lost our family's business for good and this seems to be a pattern developing with this company. I encourage everyone to steer clear of this establishment and seek another place to repair your car. read more
