**1 Star - Absolutely Horrible Experience**…read more I brought my military uniform to the Taylor shop at Bethany to have patches sewn on, providing *very* clear and detailed instructions -- even drawing them out to ensure everything followed military code. What I got back was an absolute disaster. The thread didn't match either the uniform or the patches, the placement was completely off, and the patches were sewn on crooked, folded, and sloppy. It looked like the work of a rushed preteen with no attention to detail or respect for the importance of proper military presentation. I had to request full removal and rework on several areas because it didn't follow basic code. This was a complete waste of time and money, and honestly, deeply disappointing. If your item matters -- especially something as significant as a military uniform -- **do not go here**. And she charged me full price for items I now have to have replaced! Beware.

Hamideh was very kind, considerate, and made my wedding dress look EXACTLY the way I wanted it. She…read moreraised my waistline, added bra cups, spaghetti straps, and my bustle - the bustle is the only issue I had with the entire experience. Considering how much we paid for my alterations, I didn't expect for my bustle to completely fall apart by the end of the night. Within an hour of being married, one of the bustle loops broke. Thankfully, we had a sewing kit on hand and were able to fix it within about 5 minutes. However, later through the night, not only did basically the rest of the buttons and/or loops of my bustle fell off (without tons of physical activity, we didn't even dance at the wedding).. the clip at the top of my zipper broke as well which caused my zipper to keep falling down which was extremely embarrassing for me. Aside from these two issues, everything went great and Hamideh was very accommodating and professional.

I was only in town for the weekend, so I was hoping to have the jeans repaired quickly. I asked if they could be done by the next day, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. I imagine with more extensive alterations made the turn around time wouldn't be nearly as quick, but nonetheless I was impressed, considering another denim repair option estimated waits of around 15-20 days. I came in the next day and was very pleased with the results. Where they patched the blowout is hardly noticeable, and they reinforced the other side of the crotchal region to prevent future blowouts. The patch was also sewn back on very sturdily. And it only cost $18! A real bargain for the quality of work. Would definitely return and highly recommend for anyone seeking repairs to a pair of raw selvedge denim they have worn in.

Edit: ~1 week after I posted this she informed me she still had the original hems but refused to…read moregive them back to me because I was "too harsh for someone that doesn't sew". Very upset with my experience. Ruined 3 pairs of jeans (~$250 worth) by hacking off original hem and botching the new one. She could've easily said she didn't know how to hem jeans or YouTubed/Googled it, it's not difficult to keep the original hem at all. The new hem is crooked/uneven all the way around, the legs themselves are now different lengths, and they flare at the bottom now but were pencil cut initially. I don't know if she stretched them out while sewing or how that even happened, but it's beyond something that'd return to normal after a wash (though they do need a wash after being in the home for over a week, they smell unpleasant). I'm going to have to pay someone else to try to salvage them now on top of what I paid her. Furthermore, she was difficult to get in touch with to get the jeans back. When I finally was able to set up an appointment to get them (multiple calls and texts later) she wasn't even there. Had to pay her husband and describe my things to him . She is super scattered, unorganized, seems flustered or something? I understand being busy, wouldn't have minded these things if the work had been acceptable. Just pay the extra $$ to have a professional tailor do your things correctly. Thought this would be easy and didn't understand why other places charged so much. Learned my lesson.

However, read on for all those people out there who love their silk or dry clean only tops and stain every last one! I purchased a beautiful purple silk top at Juicy Couture on sale and was pumped to wear it....only to toss a round, fat, cherry tomato dripping with balsamic vinaigrette right onto the ruffle layers by lunchtime of its debut. AWESOME. (this is why I can't have nice things. I'm a menace to fashion society.) I tried rinsing it immediately in cold water (to no avail). I scoured beaverton for club soda (to no avail). When I made it home, my summer mom (aka roommate) had club soda so I spent 20 minutes with towel in hand, soaking and lightly rubbing the stain in circles onto the ruffles.....to no avail. I was ready to give up. Summer mom recommended Lauren Cleaners since they were affordable and nearby. She's been going there for years. I didn't see great reviews on yelp for anything stain-related so I figured, "Why not? If the shirts ruined, this is my last shot." When I picked up the shirt today, the stain was GONE! It literally made my day. From now on, have bib? Will look silly eating. No bib? Dry clean with Lauren. Side note: the owner named it after her daughter, not me :P
