Well, just moved from Flowery Branch to Winder and wow- this is an Ace hardware. Being a lumber…read morecenter, this place is huge and very well run. I bought a blower off Facebook and of course couldn't get it started- but knew it would run- so brought it here anyway to tune it up. There is a $40 service fee, but if you do have work done they apply to bill. There was along repair turnaround - yep- it happens when you're in the spring and EVERYBODY is in their yards, I just missed it. So I left it and called a few days later and that's when i learned it was about 2 week or more lead time. I needed it now, so Wayne in service and I chatted up my options, he figured out where I lived, knew my property but saw I needed something so I asked him if i just gave it to him- the old blower I brought in, how much could I get into a new one for and not mess with waiting. Turned out- not as much as I thought so he went and found me the perfect blower for me ( just me and my house- not commercial), applied the service fee and all the while kept me engaged with other products and things they do- like they will maintain my pool ( bring sample in they sell you the bleach/products needed) so it really just kept getting better. Then I strolled around, picked up other things but took me outside, cranked up that puppy and I was a happy camper! New blower, finished up my tool needs for now as I'm doing my own yard again as long as I can do it... but I have the right tools now. They service and sell the top brands including the Echo I bought, have all the mowers, parts, then lumber for all of winder I think- but just great service, really impressed with Wayne( dwane?... dang now I'm fading- either way- service guy. ). Went several more time in the past week as I get my home settled and just very impressed with this location and happy I found a contact that can hook me up with anything I need around and if he doesn't have it he knows who does!. Great staff, all covid friendly, big store, happy customer. Highly recommend!!!!

Grabbed my shovel and started following the water and about four foot down found the water line that was leaking. Over the next 24 hours I made four trips to HD and two trips to Lowes trying to get the fittings and pipe I need to repair it and finally cobbled something together about ten PM at night but it was a kludgy fix and only lasted for about 30 minutes before it sprang a leak too. The next morning I started searching on internet for one inch CPVC pipe which is what I needed to make a proper repair. Both Lowes and Home Depot websites said they had it but I was at one HD and two Lowes and none of them had ANY CPVC pipe. Internet said Handy Ace Hardware had some so I drove there. It is not a huge place (from the outside) but inside it is packed with tall shelving units, closely spaced, and together with the walls has much more stock and most importantly SELECTION than most HD or Lws!! Walked out of Handy Ace about 30 minutes later with a 10 foot length of 1" CVPC pipe and several right angle fittings and couplers and headed home to make the proper (and final) repair. This is a classic hardware store like the best ones I remember from years back before the big box stores forced most of them out of business. Yes, they are not cheap, but not horribly expensive either and had I gotten to Handy the evening before my water main leak ordeal would have been much shorter and less frustrating. That would have been work a LOT!!

I buy the 20 lb bags of birdseed a lot as well as potting soil; garden soil, mulch, patio furniture, paint, etc. Just bought 4 gallons of clear stain and water sealer to do deck and front porch when it gets cooler. I prefer this store rather than going to Lowe's because it just the right size store without having to hike thru a bigger size store. They have never disappointed me and enjoy going in to shop or look around.
