Santa Barbara Paint Depot - the new "matching" color is nowhere near the precise color name/number I provided. Sigh!

My LA paint place made a mistake on the colors. Since the brand was Benjamin Moore, I had to find a Benjamin Moore paint store in Santa Barbara -- which is how I came to SB Paint Depot, and BOY was I happy I did. Daniela was amazingly helpful. I was struggling with explaining my issue, because I had the very old paint can I had brought to my LA paint store. I could not understand why the color in the new can was so off. The LA Store had not noticed that my formula from my old can had been customized, even though I asked them to be sure to follow the formula. Thanks to Daniela's sharp observation stills, we figured out what had happened. Then I was finding it hard to decide on going with the full color formula or making it lighter. She helped me navigate that too! Daniela also helped me figure out how to go about making sure I'd be happy with the color. The list regarding all the ways she helped me goes on. She is the MVP of SB Paint Depot for sure!!! She also had my paint carried out to my car by Omar, who was also very nice. ALL THE WAY!

I took it back with the receipt, and they told me they could not refund my cost since "it's already mixed." They acknowledged it didn't match, but that didn't matter to them. Zero customer service. No sense of responsibility. Go anywhere else in town to buy paint.

This used to be in a much smaller location nearby. I thought that they had gone out of business,…read moreas when we were in town previously their space was emptied out. Hadn't realized that they'd expanded, added in vintage dealer spaces, and moved to a new place. Luckily, I found them online and realized that they had a new location. Dear Hubby and I had been staying in nearby Santa Maria and decided to drop in on our way south. It was worth the trip. I like that they have such a great variety of merchandise. The main front room is mostly spaces for local crafters / artisans with new or newer goods. Moving toward the back and side rooms, there are many booths for dealers with vintage / antique items. It's a browsers paradise! Couldn't resist picking up a sparkly pair of earrings, a "Farmhouse"-logo pillow, and some small succulents for a great price. Most everything seems fairly priced, actually. The woman minding the store (owner, perhaps?) was very friendly and helpful as we rounded up our purchases. I did ask about Mike's Birdhouses, which was one of the reasons that we'd stopped by. We'd previously purchased several of his charming rustic creations and were looking for more. Mike also operates a shop with model train supplies, but is only open a couple of days mid-week. The woman told us that she's reached out to him a number of times about him bringing in some of his birdhouses, but he hasn't made it happen yet. Still, it was enjoyable to see the different displays of goods. A lot of emphasis on Valentine's Day, which is coming soon. I'm sure they'll dive headfirst into Spring/Easter soon thereafter. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Lots of local gifts and some vintage items. Cute shopping area with fun garden stuff.read more
