The store is huge (the largest Ace in MD) and the staff went above and beyond to help me out. I showed up in the middle of a rain storm without an umbrella to buy a pile of power tools. Rather than call me out for my poor planning. The staff very generously helped me figure out a way to get my new purchases to my car without getting them wet. This may sound minor, but when was the last time someone at a store went out of their way like this. I didn't even have to ask. Seriously can't say enough positive stuff about the team here.

And it's just a sign of higher fraud in our book. Unfortunate, we used to love coming here, even with the more limited and older selection. He actually stated before he began my project that he was "more of a perfectionist than I." I would love to have a picture of his face when I questioned the basis for his statement. Gentle and professional as he can't or may not be, I can now confidently demonstrate with examples the inaccuracy of his claim. In the past, my wife has had painting done in our home. It is my opinion that many residential spreaders of paint should advertise as such and refrain from the noble title of painter. I'm sticking with Budeke's and either hiring a profession, or applying quality product acquired from them myself.

Background: While I generally prefer Benjamin Moore paints…read morefor use in my home, I had a project that required me to match a very old McCormick paint color as part of a ceiling repair from water damage. Normally I would not hesitate to repaint the ceiling, but in this case it was part of a utility/laundry room that has a lot ducts blocking portions of the ceiling drywall. So I wanted to do the best I could to paint the drywall repair in the ceiling yet blend it to match the paint I could not reach. Ellicott City Team McCormik to the rescue: Tall order and I had little hope since I no longer had a paint code and was sure the paint formulation had changed so much over the last 15 years there was no hope to get a match. But the guys at the Ellicott City McCormick Paints store were an amazing help to me. They knew my development and not only had a pretty good idea what the old paint code probably was, they also had a paint chip I could take home to see if it matched. Sure enough it did and I was able to blend in the paint from the repair with the surrounding and difficult ceiling area. Great product knowledge, customers service and price. I tend to like the overall durability and selection of Benjamin Moore paints better for our house decorating needs (hence 4 instead of 5 stars) but these guys were just outstanding at helping out and providing just the right paint solution!
