I am a freelance engineer that works with all types of different music projects. I travel between different studios that I have relationships with and others that I do not. I have established some strong relationships with the places I have worked.
I would highly recommend not doing business with this studio. I was cancelled on 3 times in two weeks for a session. I have projects that have deadlines, and Brian cancelled on me the day of (even less than an hour before) the session was to start multiple times. The one day he didn't cancel on me, I showed up to work, and he said that he didn't have time for me to work on my session. ???
I understand that things happen, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and I rescheduled the session. After the third time, I was quite upset. He said he would call me to reschedule and make it up with some free studio time. He at least seemed he was trying to right the wrong. He never called me back. I waited a week... Nothing. I called him, left a message, and I got no response. I sent an email the following week, no response. He has an iPhone, you know he got the call, voicemail, and email.
On top of that, he couldn't even do little things like send a gear list, mic list, etc... I asked for this stuff multiple times to no avail. If someone can take the time to do that, how serious are they about their "business".
I have worked at quite a few of the top (and not so top) studios here in St. Louis, and others in LA and Chicago. This is not my idea of a "commercial studio" in the veins of of a place where freelancers can work. After talking with some other engineers who do work like I do, a couple of them had negative experiences as well including no callbacks and cancellations.
I hate having to leave such a bad review, but I got the runaround with this place. I was highly let down. read more
