People started camping out over an hour before the showed started with beach towels and blankets to claim their piece of real estate near the action. Many came with their picnic baskets along with a wide variety of food items. A large bar area is setup that sells beer and wine. The atmosphere is upbeat and vibrant. Tip: Line is long and the bar closes promptly at 8:30PM. Both cash and credit cards are accepted. The live music started promptly at 7:15pm, the advertised show time. Tonight's (8/24/13) band is La Santa Cecilia, a local band in Los Angeles. They performed upbeat dance-friendly tunes in both Spanish and English. The performance is cool and the crowd is enjoying it. There is a huge presence of security, almost to the extent of being intrusive. There are security guards everywhere and you are not allowed to stand in many places. There are walkways that you are not allowed to stand and take a picture and you have to keep moving. The security is excessive in what is mostly a family-oriented event inside the complex of a museum. We were in the Montreal Rock Festival just recently which is about 100 times the size of this event and we didn't see this kind of security presence. Overall it was an above-average experience, and we attended the event since we were there in the museum already. However, we probably won't drive up there just for this event.

Oh my God. As a random guy walking by said to us "  this is the worst band I've ever seen. Did you…read moreenter hear of The Emperor's New Clothes? Why is everyone going along with it? "  Thank you Aco for speaking the truth. Pick better bands.

The little big neighborhood city of Toluca Lake was established in the roaring 1920s with a mostly…read moreresidential make up encompassing some great hidden streets, avenues and sites. Moorpark Street being to most roaring part a century later in the 2020s. From longstanding historic eateries like Bob's Big Boy (on the border of Toluca Lake in Burbank) to the local Trader Joe's, Fresh Brothers Pizza and Tocaya Moden Mexican fast casual restaurant. Incredible personal favorites such as Something Vegan, Forman's Tavern and Paty's Restaurant. It's a fairly accessible area both by car and on foot with easy streets, a fairly function LA Metro system, the 155, 222, 224, 501 and Commuter Express not to mention the Pink Route bus via the nextdoor city of Burbank. Historical gems such as the Gary Marshall Theater are here as well as other small theaters and/or playhouses. Your main freeways are the 134, 101 and 170, but surface streets are very much the way in Toluca. The Lake of T resides alongside the Lake Country Club & Golf Course on Clybourn/Toluca Avenue. Toluca Lake Elementary and Toluca Crossroads School, both off Cahuenga Blvd, are the only schools in Toluca Lake. Bordering Burbank, Universal City, Studio City and North Hollywood in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley the T Lake has great places to eat, shop and stay with most of your essential needs within the "city limits," but also very closeby. Parking can be a challenge like almost anywhere in Greater, however you can definitely find it and find your way. The cost of living is steep with studios starting around $2k, one bedrooms around $2.4 for a one bedroom. Homes are worth a pretty penny as well and for the comfort and luxury of living in a little big slice of SFV/LA County greatness, you can definitely see why visiting, passing through and exploring is definitely something a lot of us can enjoy without breaking the bank, that said they have most bank branches (Chase, Us Bank, Wells Fargo, etc) here as well as a Fire Station (number 86), US Post Office and Neighborhood Council. The nearest library is in North Hollywood and the closest medical facilities are the UCLA Health Toluca Lake Primary Care and the Toluca Lake Medical Building on the cusp of North Hollywood. Toluca Lake is a skip over to Warner Bros Studios as well as Universal Studios. With some awesome accolades for cinema, television and digital mediums such as Pulp Fiction, the Netflix series Never Have I Ever, and T.J. Hooker to name a few. This overall neighborhood in the city is charming, intimate and inviting even more so for seasonal occasions like Halloween and Christmas, they go all out!

The restaurants are super cute, and the people are cute and friendly. Yes, I used cute a lot...it's because Toluca Lake is SO DAMN CUTE! I've been planning to move here for a while, I just didn't have the financial means to relocate. I'm getting married in August and my fiance and I are looking for a place in Toluca Lake. When he proposed to me I agreed only under the condition that we move to Toluca Lake. Yep, I love this place that much. Even looking long term it makes sense. The house value will only increase in such a great neighborhood. Its a great little town to raise kids, and the schools here are spectacular. Oh and they have a lake and a car show every sunday during summer! What more can you ask for?!

This beautiful stretch of Ventura Blvd (as well as part of Van Nuys Blvd) encompasses the heart of the Oaks. From health, fitness and wellness to shopping, services, entertainment and all the eats. I've been a local for many years and enjoy walks through this very pedestrian friendly area. You can find metered parking along Ventura Blvd, parking with some daytime restrictions on side and back streets like Dickens Street on the south side of Ventura and Moorpark Street on the north. There are some paid private lot, with a main hub behind Midici's - The Neapolitan Pizza Company as well as the La Reina Place (old theater style building) off Cedros Avenue. Some of my personal go to favorites are: O'cado - the wine bar + restaurant (100% vegan, 10,000% amazing). Lemon Zest - those Mediterranean style wraps are perfect at this location. Mr. Furley's - the gastropub w/ amazing happy hour deals. The Standard Design Group plant store. House of Intuition #YourIntuitionLeadYourHere Daisy - the cocktail bar meets restaurant is growing on me though much like On the Thirty has great everything, but very much on the pricey side. New York Bagel Cafe American Vintage - secondhand store U.S. Bank for in person or those ATM needs. VeStation and numerous other on the main Ventura Blvd side. For Van Nuys Blvd, we appreciate our local saloon meets dive bar The Pineapple Saloon and those awesome cocktails, craft brew selection, sweet potatoes fries and they way they do their Impossible Burger 10/10. Best Buys, because there are not many left and this one has a unique design w/ a main ground floor and a lower level floor for it's games, appliances and various services. Starbucks, because this one is stylish, chic and always on point. I appreciate Gelson's for what it brings, but not for those prices... If I can get the same things at Whole Foods for several dollars less, you're the problem lol... That salad bar and bakery are stellar, not to mention backside parking lot w/ a second entrance. You're definitely paying for the experience. Love the annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair that happens in the fall every year (typically September/October). They shut down a stretch of Ventura Blvd for a Sunday Funday with incredible vendors, performances, giveaways and some attractions. The Village at S.O. brings a unique mixture of local in all the ways from it's great businesses, offerings and festive fun. It's a great place for everyone and one I enjoy often.

Made up of Bavarian architecture w/ a lot of Victorian character it's a huge staple of Sherman Oaks and LA Valley local flavor - established in the late 70s (1977). I've walked, driven and bussed by more times than I can count. Gazed at the gorgeous spiral staircase, side alley storage place and brick stone pathways leading in as well as out. Two stories high of local services including insurance, therapy (both physical and mental - including acupuncture) self care (lashes, brows & permanent via Ladies Boom LA), eyecare (attached nextdoor), birthing and infant services to name some, but there is a few more. If driving by down Riverside Drive it's something that will often hold your eye. Parking on the street or in a shared lot just before the corner off Riverside/Woodman Avenue. I believe the style to be Victorian. It certainly looks old enough and has enough original features for it to actually be from that time period.
