There is simply no place like Sheri's Corner and no one like Sheri providing daycare to infants and toddlers. We have been extremely fortunate to send both of our children to Sheri, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with her. Sheri is an absolute gem--I often describe her as my parenting guru. She is so warm, loving, down-to-earth, and in touch with the sweet little babies in her care. She is direct, compassionate, and supportive with the parents she works with. My older child has not been in her care for a few years now, but asks "When can I go to Sheri's and play with the babies again?" You can tell that Sheri really loves all of the babies she cares for, and they love her right back. She is excellent with routines, dietary needs, and potty training support, while providing a dynamic, develepmentally appropriate play space for the babies and toddlers to explore. She creates wonderful experiences for them based on their interests as they grow, from bubbles and beans/sand tables to animal-themed activities inside the home. My kids are never bored! Sheri really listens and pays attention to these little ones, and I have felt comfortable with her from our very first phone call and my older child's first visit to her home. I ask her for advice and know that she will give me a straight answer. As a first (and second) time parent, her guidance has truly been invaluable in raising our kids well. Sheri is a godsend to parents. Really. We found her by happenstance and it was truly a blessing. Sheri watched both of my children for years. She is warm and compassionate and genuinely loves the children in her care. There is ample play space that is unmatched to most in home daycares. Her back yard is also huge. Sheri is a warm and welcoming woman who has extensive experience is the child development world. The environment that Sheri has created is genuinely nurturing, caring, and enriching. The attention to detail to ensure the space is safe and clean is noticed immediately. Keeping in mind the developmental ages and stages of the children, Sheri sets up both the indoor and outdoor environment with intention and purpose. Sheri is detail oriented and thoughtful with the provocations and toys she puts out for the children. Sheri emphasizes a developmentally appropriate play based approach - the activities are always engaging and sensory exploration is encouraged and fun! When we pull up to Sheri's Corner in the morning our child is elated and on the weekend, our child asks to go to Sheri's! Throughout the day I get updates and pictures in real time. At pick up Sheri gives us a detailed run down of the day including diapers, food intake, naps, playtime, funny stories and more. Our child is absolutely thriving at Sheri's corner and has learned so much! Sheri clearly makes a positive influence on our child and we are incredibly lucky to have her in our life! Sheri took care of both of our daughters, one from 15 months until 3.5 years, and the other from about 3 months until about 15 months. They love her, and have only benefited from being there. The only reason we had to leave was because one was easily preschool-ready (thanks to her) and we had to move out of the area for the younger one. Sheri loves the children, and they love her! You can see this attention to them in how she arranges her home. Most of it is simply child-centered, which amazes us. From the child bathroom, the play area outside, to the inside play areas and kitchen seating, Sheri has put thought into every detail. In addition, she teaches the children through play, and the emphasis is on age-appropriate and development-appropriate sensory play - using natural items (leaves, branches, pine cones, dried beans) partnered with traditional toys (magna tiles, dolls, blocks). Our kids have learned so much here academically and socially! Every day, Sheri texts pictures and reports about the children, so we know what's going on. During pick ups, we get near play-by-plays on the naps, lunch, and play times of our child. It's also nice to talk to the other parents and grandparents during this time, because they're a great group of people. Definitely one of the best decisions we made for our kids. My husband and I were searching for a daycare for our newborn baby. We are first time parents and definitely needed to use a daycare as our families cannot help us during the day. We visited 8 other daycare's in the Northridge area and were basically ready to give up and just have my husband watch our baby during the day. Sheri's corner was the 9th and very last place we visited... We contacted Sheri, and she was very kind and professional. She scheduled a time to meet us after hours so she could make it 100% about us and our baby without any interruptions. Upon entering her home, it was absolutely spotless! We loved the idea of having a "in home daycare" vs a school type setting. Sheri has dedicated her life to children, and it shows.... she is very knowledgeable (especially for new parents) and absolutely wonderful with all of the children. As with any other parent, we set out to find the best day care facility for our precious little one. Sheri's place is indeed a hidden treasure in the Valley! We have visited so many facilities in and around the Valley and in fact, our little one did spend some time at another facility. However, I have to say that the difference that we have felt ever since she started going to Sheri is like night and day! Sheri is a genuinely caring and nurturing wonderful person and our little girl loves it there. All the other parents are very friendly and the kids are little angels! She gets excited as soon as we drive up to her house and what more could a parent ask for! It gives us so much peace of mind knowing that our little girl is happy and safe with her friends. Sheri and Henry have created such an enriching environment for the kids that our little girl seems to learn something new every day. We absolutely love the little notes that Sheri sends home every day, detailing the fun that they had on that day! Then there are the little drawings, the cute little craft things that they make...love the little budding artists! Sheri takes tons of pictures every now and then and the families have access to these pictures. We can't wait to see those precious moments and they are absolutely adorable! Sheri and Henry have the most wonderful perspective of life and we enjoy our conversations with them every day! Our daughter has been going to Sheri's now for 6+ months. Sheri does a great job wrangling and teaching the kids. Our 18 month old daughter feels at home at Sheri's. After looking far and wide for a child care provider for my daughter, I was lucky enough to find Sheri's Corner. I knew as soon as I walked in to her facility that it was a beautiful, safe environment. What I came to understand as the weeks and months passed, was that Sheri has an amazing gift with babies and young children. The kids in her home are relaxed, happy, and excited to be there. Initially, my daughter came here for intermittent care when her pre-school was closed. I immediately noticed a drastic change in her demeanor on the days she was at Sheri's. When she'd come home, she seemed to stand up taller, had fewer tantrums, and she was more verbal. She was more capable at home, more willing to help and cooperate. As time passed, I made the decision to remove my daughter from her local preschool entirely and put her in Sheri's for full time care because I found that she was so much happier on the days she went to Sheri's. I have had no regrets, and only wish that I'd found Sheri's corner sooner. I recommend Sheri's Corner whole-heartedly. She is an amazing woman with so much to offer to local families. read more

After I had my daughter, my husband and I toured a few daycares before stumbling upon Sheri's Corner. Others were FILTHY, swamped with children, and too business-like. After walking into Sheri's, an in-home facility, after hours smelling of simple green, seeing the reconvertered guest restroom to a toddler restroom, I came across a water table in the back yard. I was sold. As a special education teacher I work with the little ones as well. To know everything was cleaned and sanitized daily, the obvious love she has for these little ones that are under her care and her years of experience working in early education spoke for itself. My husband's schedule fluctuates week to week and therefore, I am unable to establish a set schedule for my daughter to attend Sheri's. For Sheri to be as flexible with us and our schedules, is heaven sent. Sheri is an amazing caregiver to my child. Anyone who has been fortunate to have their child(ren) cared for by this women have some very lucky children. Looking forward for my twins to attend in a few months!!! read more

I have my masters in Early Childhood Education, so finding a place for my daughter was extremely challenging. We spent some months at a mediocre daycare. When we finally found Sheri's, I knew we had found the right place for our family. The difference between the two finally had my husband understanding what I meant when I was insisting we needed better for our child. Sheri actually knows child development, so everything she does is deliberate-to nap routines, sensory play and all activities she let's children explore, to the way she talks with the children. While I miss my little one dearly when I leave her, I have no qualms Sheri and Henry take the best possible care of her. Sheri is extremely open and communicative. I would NOT recommend this daycare. The woman who runs it is incredibly unreliable. My son went there for 2+ years. In hindsight, I'm not sure how we survived! Sheri frequently sent emails at 7am closing for the (same) day. With working parents who rely on you to care for their children, this is simply unacceptable. Up until a few days ago this would've been a 5 star review but in light of recent events I would give 0 if possible. Our son had been going there off and on for 3.5 years and always had a lot of fun. (There was no structured play like circle time, story time etc but who expects that from a day care?) We were relieved to know our daughter would receive the same care he did when she would start next month. Unfortunately, though we were assured our spot was saved, it was given away 3 weeks before I am to return to work which has basically screwed us. The reason given was I expressed a desire to stay home (what parent doesn't) and they needed the money. Instead of calling to confirm we were still starting or asking us to start paying for the spot for them to hold it they filled the spot and sent us an email apologizing. So much for being a part of the "family" they like to speak of. I would rather not be a part of a family that treats each other that way. read more

Since my manifesto about how amazing Sheri's Corner was accidently deleted, I will attempt to summarize it... Our son has been at Sheri's Corner for 5 months and it has been an unbelievable experience. He ran from our car to their front door his second day- couldn't wait to see his new friends! I knew in that single moment, we won the lottery. The quality of care my son and the other children receive is undeniable. Regardless of the time of day or unexpected drop-ins, the children are always HAPPY, smiling, exploring, laughing, playing, and are engaged with each other and Sheri/Henry. Sheri and Henry are on the floor with the children playing with them and are present at all times. The children always come first and it shows. It should also be mentioned that the house/toys are exceptionally clean. Don't expect to find your kids sitting in front of a T.V. zoning out to mind-numbing cartoons/shows (they do not even have a T.V. in their child-converted areas) or left to their own devices without much supervision. Your kids will actively participate in developmentally appropriate games/activities every waking moment they are there. Their developmental domains are targeted non-stop such as: cognition (e.g., thinking and organizing the systems of the mind, which involves language, mental imagery, thinking, reasoning, problem solving, cause & effect, formulating questions, and memory development; this is not an automatic process- it MUST be learned.), social-emotional, language- both receptive (i.e., what a child understands) and expressive (i.e., what a child verbalizes), fine motor (e.g., small muscle movements of the hand/fingers and hand-eye coordination), gross motor (e.g., large muscle movements ), and self-help/adaptive. The children also regularly participate in sensory play that engages the 5 senses- our son loved painting with pudding and then being able to eat it! He is read to throughout the day, learns songs and dances, does dramatic play with his friends (e.g., doctor, dentist, grocery store, talent show, restaurant, car wash, salon, etc.), and the best part of all...he and the other little angles are LOVED and held. Your child will be given individual attention from the moment he/she steps foot through their door until they say their good-byes when they are picked up. There is a reason Sheri keeps the amount of children enrolled low- so each child will be given personal attention/care. Sheri and her husband have an exquisite eye for detail that is unsurpassed as they understand each child's specific needs as well as every parent's individual concern(s). Our son has thrived and excelled the past 5 months. He oozes self-confidence and is always happy/smiling. All of the children and their parents are amazing and it is an honor to be part of this group. We talk about all of our friends and "nana" Sheri and "papa" Henry all the time. My only regret...not knowing about Sheri's Corner when my older daughter was little. read more

My 20 month old son has been with Sheri consistently for about 7 months. And part time before that since he was about 6 months old. I waited as patiently as possible to get him in with them full time for what felt like forever, and now that he is in, I would do anything to keep his spot. They are not only the sweetest people you will ever meet, but out of the billion and one facilities I have gone to look at throughout the valley, Sheri's Corner remains the cleanest and most child friendly daycare I have ever seen. Sheri is committed to putting her whole heart into the growth and development of your children. She has the greatest outlook on life and takes in children as if they are her own. My son has a case of what I like to call "mom-itis" and usually I am the only one he wants 100% of the time. And while at first he was skeptical about me leaving him, in no time he was practically jumping into Sheri's arms to go and play for the day. Hidden Treasure Well parents, right about now I'm doing back flips!!! There is an amazing daycare right here in the valley that's a real gem. The woman who runs this daycare, Sheri, is a breath of fresh air and a real professional! How did I miss this one before? Well probably because it's a needle in a haystack. Where to start...I love these people!...and more importantly, so does my son! I am a single first time mom who is living in LA without any family in the area. That being the case, I knew I was going to have to put my son in daycare and unfortunately most likely when he was still very young. Early in my pregnancy I went to see a different daycare that I was told was great. I left there feeling anxious and that I needed to figure out a way to afford a nanny or to stop working. The daycare seemed okay, but I was not about to leave my 4 or 5 month little baby there. Then a coworker mentioned Sheri's Corner. After hearing all the positives from my coworker, and just speaking to Sheri on the phone, all my concerns and anxiety were lifted. Even my mom (an even more anxious grandmother) felt better after she happened to be in the car to hear that first conversation over speakerphone. At that point, without seeing the daycare, I went on the waiting list immediately because I knew that's where I wanted him to be. Everything worked out and my son started at Sheri's Corner when he was 5 months old. He was and still is very clingy and attached to his mom. He's not one of those babies you can just hand to anyone to hold and he'll be happy (another concern that arose as that 5 month mark approached). The transition to Sheri's was great. Of course he cried that first day but I knew that he was in great hands, being supported lovingly as he adjusted. My son loves being there and he LOVES Sheri and Henry. My son has always pouted when I walk away, but now he does the same thing with Sheri and Henry. It's adorable and melts my heart. The best way I can describe leaving my son at Sheri's Corner is that it's like dropping him off at grandma and grandpa's house, if grandma and grandpa were way younger and cooler!!...AND with tons of space to play inside and out and with tons of toys that get swapped out regularly to keep the children engaged. Sheri sets up various stations, including sensory tables or water play, and brings out toys that are targeted at the kid's specific age and stage of development. Sheri has demonstrated time and time again that she has great intuition and is really able to read the children's moods, flagging when they might be getting sick, even before showing symptoms. And I'll never forget the day I dropped my son off and just casually mentioned he was picking up cheerios but didn't know to bring them to his mouth. By noon I got a message from Sheri, "Guess who is eating cheerios?!" I was so taken by the fact that I didn't even have to ask. Sheri just took it upon herself to help him learn. I don't work or live in Northridge but I drive out of my way to have him there and will until he has to go to school. But as most parents do, I'm sure I will be bringing him back to visit our daycare family on school holidays! read more

Finding someone to care for your child like you do, is the hardest thing about going back to work. I searched with no luck and was about to give up. Almost in tears, I decided to look online one more time. I saw Sheri's Corner and decided to call. From the moment I spoke to Sheri, I knew this was it! Sheri's Corner turned out to be everything I was looking for. My daughter was 8 months when she started at Sheri's and has already grown so much in the last 5 months. They have an oasis for kids and my daughter is always happy and smiling when I drop her off and pick her up. She gets to participate in dramatic play, cooking, reading and many other activities that foster learning and encourage curiosity. It is very obvious how much they love their job and each of our children. My older daughter always wants to go and hang out at her "sisters school". Her years of expertise show and I would recommend Sheri's Corner to anyone! read more
