I checked this daycare out, among just about every other one that exists in Granada Hills. This place takes the cake! Everything about this place was fantastic. I took my almost 3 year old son here with me to check it out and he fell in love immediately, giving big hugs to Susan and her daughter. The place is immaculately clean, she makes her own cleaning products with essential oils. She makes all food from absolutely scratch, all organic food and sourced from local farms. Anyone who doesn't give this place a five star is crazy! We came here in 2014 as scared first time parents that had concerns about places that give kids deep fried foods and large centers where kids weren't cared for properly. We met Susan and Christine and since 2014, it's been the best decision we have ever made! Not only have both of our kids been cared for like they were family, but they've taught our daughter important life lessons and values. They only use organic foods and everything is homemade which is amazing! Our kids eat better than we do! On top of all of that, they help them paint, do all sorts of arts and crafts to take home to parents during holidays as well. My 3 year old is well ahead of her age range and it's all because of Susan's. They are no longer just a daycare for us, they will always be family and leaving them was the hardest decision we've ever made! We feel so lucky to have found Susan! My son had a nanny until he was 20 months old when I changed jobs and was further from home. I wanted him to be near my new job and I also thought it would be good for him to socialize more. I devoted a couple of days to researching and visiting various daycares in the area. I became so discouraged that I would have to sacrifice my standards (organic food, non toxic cleaners, no screen time). Then I found Susan. If anything, I have raised my standards as hers were higher. My son is so well fed and cared for. She even makes her own organic skincare and has cured my son's eczema with essential oils. My other concern with the switch to daycare was that he would get sick more often. The opposite has been true. The foods she prepares contain plenty of garlic and other immunity boosts. She also provides tea tree oil inhalations! In the year he has been there he has missed one day due to illness. The kids there are never sick. I highly recommend Susan's daycare. Susan and Christine are amazing and became part of our family. They showered my daughter with so much love and she thrived as she went there from a 7 month old to a 2 1/2 year old. The only reason why we're still not attending is we moved to Los Angeles. My child learned to paint, dance, yoga, learn songs, a love of books, a love for learning, met her first best friend, and so much more. Susan only does organic homemade food that's so delicious! My child was constipated from the first week she ate solid foods. Susan worked with us on a daily basis with foods that would help my daughter be as regular as possible. Now that she attends preschool my daughter has received compliments on how ready she is in all aspects. As I mentioned in the beginning, I HIGHLY recommend Susan's daycare. This is another update since my last review. Our 4 year old boy has now gone to pre-school and 18 month girl go to Mrs. Susan's Daycare. My daugher has been going here since 1 1/2 months. My son started a little older at 16 months. If I had know this earlier, I would have sent my oldest earlier. I feel very fortunate to have found a daycare for my son and daugher when they are so young. I was reluctant to put them in a home based daycare because I've heard many horror stories. I feel strongly about healthy, nourishing, organic food and non toxic environment for young children. I couldn't find a single daycare that can meet our "wish list". When I came across of Susan's daycare it sounded too good to be true. Susan and her daughter Christine are truly caring, loving, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They make homemade organic food for kids that taste amazing (yes, they gave us food to try at home). They were respectful about our food choices (vegan) and it means a lot to me, because I didn't want my daughter to feel "different" when other kids are eating. They use all natural cleaning supplies, don't use microwave and use essential oils when there is a flu season. It's awesome! There is no other place like it, I checked! And you can see how much kids love Susan and Christine when at the end of the day they give them hug before leaving and tell how much fun they had during the day. For the money, there are better child care centers out there. Firstly, all age groups are mixed in this one big room the entire day, Outdoor play area is very limited. With the staff being just this family, kids do not get to interact much with more teachers unlike a bigger child care center. Also, the lady treats the parents like kids too, what's with her deadlines on every thing? Highly recommend you check out Bright Horizons before you fall for the reviews here and sign up. When I started looking for my son's first daycare at 11 months old, I tried everything I can to find a safe, clean, loving and educating environment for him. My husband and I were anxious because our son has never left our sight up to that point, and we were not going to let anyone that we can not trust completely take care of him. I did extensive research on about 60-70 daycare centers in the area, made an excel table for all of them for comparing the caretaker/children ratio, food, hours, environment, license, price, etc.. Then I called the top 20 daycares on my lists, visited 7 of them, and during each hour-long visit I interviewed them with a 3-page questionnaire (basically covers any daycare related questions I can find online) so I can do a thorough comparison. I know this is a bit overdone, but handing a young child to someone else for the first time is nerve-wracking and we really want to find the safest and the best. We are fortunate to find Susan's Daycare. Susan and Christine provide a loving and calm environment for kids. They also make sure everything in the household are organic and non-toxic, including the detergent they use to clean the toys. Kids take off shoes and wear socks when they arrive, so no worry about young kids picking up dirty toys from the floor and put them in mouth. The place is clean, they make home-made organic food and snacks everyday. They also do everything they can to fulfill parents' (reasonable) special requests. For example, when my son started, we were still keeping food/diaper log for him. Susan and Christine would take our log in the morning and fill in every feeding and diaper change so we have a continuous record; my son had eczema so they put lotion on his affected area several times a day; my son has some food allergy so they are very careful to watch his food and inform us what he has been eating. They frequently send some of their daycare meals home for parents to taste. Their activities include story-reading time, dancing/singing time, watercolor painting/art and craft time. On each kid's birthday, they also make their own organic cake and have a little birthday party. Overall, they provide a fun, loving, educating and soothing environment for children, and they really try hard to communicate with parents to let us know the child's behavior at daycare, so we are on the same page when it comes to teaching, playing, nap schedule and feeding. My son loves going to Susan's Daycare everyday. He has been going for 8 months now and he has learned so much! Everyday he comes home with new words, new songs, and new tricks. Also, he does not get sick like some horror stories I heard about other daycares. Being a first time mom, Susan's 18 year child-care experience is also very helpful to all my questions. It's all TRUE!!!! Susan and her daughter Christine are amazing. It is so clean and always smells great. The kids are happy and so well cared for and my 14 month old loves it. I was terrified of finding someone to care for him but had to get back to work. My first daycare experience with my older son (now 17) just reaffirmed why I hate the idea of someone else caring for my child. He was always sick. I mean the type of sick you get from people not washing their hands after changing a diaper among other things. I lost so much time from work running back and forth to the pediatrician that I finally broke down and decided to stop working. It was awful and I could not afford to do it but I had to. Years later I found myself facing the same horrors again. I checked out three or four places near me and saw the same thing all over smelly, unhappy kids and a caregiver trying to convince me she already loved my son. Yuck!!! Susan & Christine have given me peace of mind and renewed faith in care givers. This is above and beyond what you will find anywhere else. This should be the standard by which everyone else is held. They are the best and worth every dollar. I look forward to dropping my son off because I know he is going to eat, sleep, play, learn, and be truly cared for. They are the best! read more

What is there to say, other than that our daughter is in hands as good as ours at Susan's Daycare. We are SO very blessed to have found Susan and Christine. They are so consistently positive, loving, supportive, and nurturing. Our daughter LOVES them, and the little family of other kids and parents that we have met there. We also really appreciate their commitment to clean and healthy living. Our daughter, I must say, eats so much better at daycare than at home. They don't use microwaves or plastic, and they pretty much serve only organic, locally-sourced foods. They also don't clean with harsh chemicals. They are a-mazing. We toured so many daycares, and none of them even came close (like, not even in the same galaxy). I have the utmost confidence and trust in them. Susan and Christine are the best in child care. We were fortunate enough to be able to enroll our son when he was 6 months old. Susan and Christine have been the most loving, wonderful caregivers to our son. Everyday that he has been there, I have seen him grow, learn, and become a more confident young individual. Like many parents, the most important things I am looking for in a child care center are: 1) safe, nurturing, loving environment--Susan is one of the most experienced caregivers I have ever met. Her experience is apparent in the way she nurtures each individual personality with special love and attention. She watches over the children with the same love and attention she would her own. 2) mentally-stimulating learning environment --Susan engages the children at each of their levels. There are so many learning opportunities they take in throughout the days and seasons--painting, singing, doing circle time, listening to live piano and violin, reading books (reading aloud books together like Charlotte's Web and then the kids each got to take home a stuffed animal Wilbur!), releasing ladybugs, learning about gardening and cooking, celebrating birthdays and holidays...the list goes on and on. 3) healthy lifestyle filled with organic, healthful food and exercise. Susan cooks and bakes the most incredible home-made food I've ever had. Everything is organic, delicious, and fresh. She sends home samples sometimes with the families and my son verifies that Susan's soups are "the best!" 4) dependability and reliability -- I have not had to miss a single day of work on account of the daycare being closed unexpectedly in the entire time that we were there, and my son has stayed healthy and active in the clean, spotless, organic environment that they provide. The peace of mind I feel when bringing my son to Susan's daycare is incredible and unmatched. I know he is going to have a wonderful day filled with hugs, love, and the best in care. It's with a really sad heart that we have moved out of the area, which is the only reason why our son moved to another daycare after a truly amazing one and a half years together. I have been meaning to write this review for nearly 2 year. So here goes... Miss Susan and Miss Christine are nothing short of amazing. Our daughter has been in their care since she was nearly 6 months old and Susan's Daycare was our G-dsend. Our little one was born early and a preemie, and as a result she suffered from harsh reflux and required extra TLC. After touring several locations, we found that only Susan's was able to give our little bug the extra care and support for her reflux and feeding schedule (to help her gain weight). Two huge bonuses for us is their "no cry-it-out" policy and the homemade, organic meals. Almost 3 years later, we can say without a doubt that we made the best decision in sending our daughter here. Our daughter is a phenomenal eater (we say a huge thanks to their homemade, organic food); very articulate in communicating her needs and emotions; empathetic; independent; social; loves to do yoga; and absolutely adores her friends and Miss Susan's family. The intimate space and multi-age setting contributed to the older children helping our little one when she was younger to now our daughter loving to interact with the younger kiddos. The garden and play space is the perfect size and with the Valley's summer heat, I am grateful for the indoor play structure. They stress lots of play, read chapter books (our daughter loves to say "chapter 1" when we read to her every night), offer live music, teach about gardening and bugs, provide healthy meals (our daughter now loves pomegranates and lentils), engage the children in art and integrate kindergarten readiness effortlessly in all of this. Their facility is very clean and they use their own cleaning products made of essential oils--no harsh chemicals here! For us, we have noticed that our daughter has been ill fewer times than stories we've heard from other parents in other daycare settings. And, when our daughter expressed interest in potty-training, they encouraged her appropriately. Now having experienced their services for nearly 3 years, I can attest that Susan and Christine nurture and care for each of the children as if they were their own. They have come to be an extension of our family and we look forward to bringing our next baby here (provided there's space!). While the cost is on the higher end, they are worth every penny especially with 2 parents working outside of the home. You want to know that your child is in the best hands possible. Our daughter has been with Susan and Christine for 1 1/2 years, since she was 4 months old. I can't say enough wonderful things about the daycare. It's clean, it's fun and safe for the kids, and the food is organic and nutritious. We feel safe leaving our child in such capable hands. They treat the kids with such loving care, as if they are their own. I highly recommend the daycare. Susan's daycare is the "Hidden Treasure" of daycares.. There's nothing worse than the reality that most everyone now a days has to work and with all the horror stories we hear about daycares and babysitters and preschools, how can you fathom trying to find a safe, wholesome, nurturing environment where our children will spend more time their then home.... My 1st son who is now almost 8 was my first experience with Susan's Daycare. He was with a nanny from 7 months to about 18 months. Once he was 18 months I wanted him to get that social interaction with other kids his age. I did the usual call every place in my area with in a 10-12 mile radius, set an appointment to go and meet and look and smell the place, yes I said SMELL the place. After about 4 different appointments I was getting really discouraged. I never got that WOW feeling with any of them. I didn't want my kid to just be another kid. The last place I inquired about didn't take children under 2, but they did tell me about Susan's Daycare. I called and spoke with Susan that very same day. Within 10 min of speaking with Susan just on the phone I KNEW this was IT!!! I felt her warmth through the phone. I could her in her voice and the way she spoke, that this was the WOW factor I was so desperately looking for. The next thing I did was set a time to meet with her later in the afternoon. I walked into this Daycare and I was BLOWN away. It was clean, the kids were clean and it was organized. One of the many things that I liked most about Susan's Daycare was Susan made all their food and it was all Organic. My 1st child stayed at Susan's Daycare till it was time for him to enter preschool. Susan had such an amazing influence on my son. By the time he did start preschool he was more advanced than most of the other kids his age. My second child also attends Susan's Daycare. He started at 5 months only because I had the luxury of keeping him with me since I work from home. My second is about to turn 2 and I really owe majority of his brilliance to Susan. If you're like me, you can't imagine anything more important and challenging than finding quality daycare for your children. Last year, I needed to find care for my 4 month old so I could go back to work. After reading the reviews on Yelp, reading Susan's website and speaking with her on the phone, I felt she was the one. Of course, I still researched and visited other daycare centers. Honestly, I compare the rest as Motel 6's with Susan's daycare being the Ritz and where I wanted to send my beloved little one. I was relieved they had an opening for us. Like other parents have reviewed here, my husband and I were immediately impressed with Susan and Christine and their home daycare based on our conversation and their organization and cleanliness. I too gave it the smell test, and was pleased by the light and fresh essential oils like lavender and basil in the air instead of bleach or chemicals. I was also glad Susan shares our philosophy of no TV, as our little one needs love and attention not Baby Einstein Videos. My daughter learned so much here, especially advanced social skills. She loves to sing and read books with us, and easily recognizes tunes and stories so I know she's exposed to music and books at daycare too. I also agree with another parent that Susan's daycare and organic standards are higher than my own, and I've learned so much from them. And as to claims their child has not been sick as is expected with daycare, that's been our experience too! I consider myself beyond lucky to have found this place in 2015 for my son who was 13 months old then. As first time parents my husband and I did our due diligence and looked at multiple day care providers, Montessori etc in the Porter Ranch area. We even tried one for a few weeks but it did not work out. I remember the first time we met Susan and Christine and I felt this instant connection, a sense of security and warmth, similar to how I felt leaving my child behind with his grandparents. She is loving, gentle and always full of energy and ofcourse my son absolutely loved Christine because she engaged him in music and so many other activities. He learnt how to do yoga, made some really great friends, learnt how to eat veggies and fruits (which is every mother's dream :-)) The facility is spotless, the food she provides for the kids is healthy, fully organic and absolutely delicious. She completely indulges them with her soups, home made cakes, a variety of grilled meats and so many other delicacies. When I dropped my son off at her place every morning, I felt a sense of security, I knew he was in great hands, I knew he was going to be well fed. I was a happy momma :-) I have the highest regards for what she does and she is certainly now a part of our family and the best thing that could have happened to us. It's a very special space for children and a peace of mind for their parents. My son is now 11 years old and he started going to Susan's for child care when he was 9 months until he was 3 years old. He loved the special care and her famous soups. The uniqueness is Susan's approach to childcare, which stems from her commitment to providing organic, freshly prepared foods and products she uses on all the children under her care. The environment is extremely clean, spacious and well maintained throughout the whole facility. It's well child proofed and safety is of paramount importance at Ms. Susan's Day Care. I have had my daughter at Susan's daycare for almost a year and I couldn't ask for a better daycare center, being a single dad I needed to rely on a place that I knew she was being well taken care of and would also get a good start in learning the "basic" fundamentals ... My daughter will be 2 and she already knows her ABC's, 123's, and various children songs... This just showed me how much time they dedicate to each child....I like the fact that it's a mother/daughter team and they are always looking for the well being of each individual child they are very nurturing and caring... They are always thinking of new activities, safe toys, and new learning materials to expose the children to...The thing that I like the most is that they specialize in making their own organic food which exposes my daughter to different types of fruits and vegetables that "us" as parents don't take the time to do... I am still really impressed by how fast I get reply's whether it's with a phone call or text message if I am ever wondering how my daughter is doing all I need to do is pick up the phone...When my daughter first started daycare I was really uneasy thinking that she would have a hard time adapting but without me asking Susan sent me pictures of how my daughters day was going and what she was doing during the coarse of the day which for any parent that is always a PLUS... Being a first-time mom, it was one of the hardest things to face the reality that after exhausting my maternity leave, sick time, vacation time, savings account, everything, my newborn daughter would have to go to daycare so my husband and I could go back to work full time again and not land our family homeless on the streets (lol) from taking so much time off work. Unfortunately, like many moms these days, I don't have the luxury of staying home so as terrifying as it was, it had to be done. I had been able to put it off until she was four months old but couldn't any longer. So, we set out to find a daycare. My husband and I visited 13 or 14 different daycares and knew, without a doubt, that Susan's was the one. And, 8 months later, I can say we were absolutely right. I can't say enough about how I can drop my now 1-year-old lil monkey off with Susan and Christine (mother-daughter duo extraordinaire) and have complete and total PEACE OF MIND that she will be loved and cared for just like she is with family. Susan and Christine truly LOVE all the kiddos and it shows. They also provide all organic foods and products, which I Love. They only want the best for the kids and Susan makes sure to educate the parents (in such a loving, gentle manner) on the best foods and products for the kids. Now, when I pick up my daughter from daycare, she cries because she wants to stay! She loves the food, the activities - reading books, live music, puzzles, playing in the jungle gym, etc. - the food (she got mommy's appetite, LOL), the children, etc. Also, Susan regularly sends home leftovers from the meals they provide the children so you can see what she feeds them. Comes in handy when I want to take the evening off from cooking. And man, the food is dee-lish! I constantly find myself trying to replicate Susan's recipes! My daughter has been going to Susan's daycare for over 2 years now, and my 4 month old has just started attending. I couldn't ask for a better daycare. It's a warm, friendly, home environment where the kids get plenty of attention. There are activities to keep them busy and interaction with other kids. And Susan cooks good, healthy food for them!
