Built in1892 & the finest in ranch country. There were 64 rooms with bathtubs & electric lights now 21 rooms. Bob Hope, Ernest Hemingway stayed here as this was the center of culture . Bill Cody lived here for a few years & interviewed acts on the porch. Queen Victoria shipped a British stone fireplace. In the 1960's without the railroad, the Sheridan was in disrepair. Beautiful old building home to Buffalo Bills shenanigans! The restaurant is delicious! We had ribeye, chicken Snitzel, beer cheese soup and pretzel, wedge salad yum, and burger. All were fantastic. This is one of the classiest restaurants with old western charm you will find. The decor is charming. The Open Range is within the historic Sheridan Inn. The food is outstanding and the servings are huge. The service is excellent. We took all of Jessica"s recommendations and were so grateful for her suggestions. Beautiful historic property with cool rooms, western decor, beautiful lobby and lounge on upper floors.

While we did not stay at the hotel we did have dinner they and take a walk around. The service and food was phenomenal. Kaci the general manager and Amanda our server really made our night by taking the time to get to know us while we dined. We cannot wait to go back there again and stay at the hotel next time. I'd recommend you do the same. Oh PS they have a nice wine list and the prices are more than palatable. Elk dinner was mouth watering, not even a drop of sauce was left. We booked a refundable room for a trip to Yellowstone. Unfortunately we had to cancel. It was 16 days prior to our scheduled arrival and we were DENIED A REFUND. It seems, even with a refundable room, you have to provide a ONE MONTH NOTICE. It may be a lovely place, but I cannot give anyone a good review when they take a customers money without providing any service at all. This is a cool hotel once part-owned by "Buffalo Bill" Cody. It has rooms kept as original as possible and dedicated to his Wild West Show. The restaurant called Open Range (OR), is awesome with great food and drinks and the hotel and restaurant staff are really nice. Beds are comfy too! Would be good to have a white-noise source to help block the rumble of the occasional train that comes through but really not that bad (no horns), just a low rumble. read more

One of the best hotels! The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. You can tell the staff has paid attention to detail with little touches in the room most chain hotels lack. Each room is named after a person Buffalo Bill knew, a wonderful way to tie into the rich history. The staff was very kind and attentive and helped assist us in all of our needs. The rooms come with breakfast vouchers for a restaurant across the street. Such unique and delicious food!! The kids appreciated the experience of having real keys to open our room. We were in Sheridan for a family funeral and decided to have all of our family members stay here. It was perfect! The owners have done a fabulous job remodeling this historic hotel to its original state. In addition to being well cared for, it was so nice and clean (and I am picky about cleanliness). The staff was terrific - friendly and accommodating. Even gave us a historical tour of the hotel! The room included a free breakfast at a local cafe, which was delicious! I saw a review where someone complained about no televisions on the property. Personally, I love that there are no tv's. It's nice to have a break! Well maintained, historical hotel but is not what it promises to be. First, there is no restaurant or bar which was very disappointing. Our room came with breakfast but we were given a $5.30 voucher for a restaurant done the road. The room is updated and tasteful but very small (I.e., no closet, no tv, no amenities, bathtub only). Lobby is attractive but not like the photos suggest. The area around the hotel is sketchy with boarded up houses, The air conditioning vent is right above the headboard blowing right on one's face at night. Definitely not worth $200 per night! read more

The hotel it self was good! But their policy of finders keepers was extremely disappointing! I forgot 5 items in the closet and when i called the hotel the next day I was told "we did not find it!!" I believe when housekeeping cleans the room they must look over the room whole entire room. They cannot find my 5 items! I find that hard to believe! I was told they were investigating the situation. I called back numerous time that I wanted to speak to the manager, messages were left for him but he never returned my call. It is now September still no answer I stayed there on the long weekend in August! I am so troubled with their policy of FINDERS KEEPERS!!!! you need to look at your staff why they are keeping your customer garments!!!!! read more

The Inn itself is neat and the rooms are done well. Cool to visit. Our room was nice but right on 2 roads with lots of traffic and a train that was stopped loudly in front of the hotel around 6 am. The guests in the room next to us talked until past midnight loudly and we could hear every word they said followed by loud snoring starting at 1 am. Terrible night of sleep. Sadly I messaged both of the night staff around 11:30 to see if there was anything we could do (we were given the numbers upon check in as no one was there overnight) and no one replied or ever said anything about our issues. The highlight was the claw foot tub which we used and proceeded to flood the bathroom as it was broken and we weren't informed prior to use. read more

We were but more overwhelmed by the room, we get a dream of nostalgia have combined with modern facilities and convenience, plus the attention to detail! A wonderful hotel, and especially as a historic hotel! A local actually told us it had been recently renovated, so I don't know what it was like before, but it was fantastic. The hotel still has all the right feel of history but with the subtle, elegant updates that fit and add the right amount of modern comfort. The bed was SUPER comfortable, There were nice upscale touches like water bottles in the room and chocolate chip scones. There is a nice set up for a continental breakfast in the morning in the Lady's parlor which has the feel of a movie set..but you can actually enjoy eating in there! It was easy to book online, and the hotel had great communication on email with booking and questions, and at check in, very helpful with historic tidbits on the hotel and information on useful things with the hotel. They have "common" areas which are couches, chairs, some books just outside of the rooms on the top, 3rd floor, with Keurigs so that you can help yourself to some tea or coffee at your schedule...though we ended up not doing that since we felt it might be intrusive to anyone staying up on that floor, but the area looked welcoming and comfortable. The other GREAT thing was being just off the main street where bars and restaurants were, which allowed us to walk around and check the town out a little on foot. HIGHLY recommend this place and would absolutely stay here again. read more

This BW had what we needed for this stay. Bunk beds with two queens for a reasonable price. No elevator was a bit inconvenient but we had several people to help carrying things. MW bank down the hall not ideal but better than none. Not enough counter space in large room. Temp was good. Shower head too lower for avg height adults. Toilet overflowed. Staff arrived with plunger but no mop. I sopped it up with towels and sprayed with Lysol I always bring now. Breakfast was not a buffet. Made to order three small choices. We didn't even go to it one of two mornings. Our day started early and no time to wait. Staff was nice. Most everybody in Sheridan is nice. read more

While the location, lobby and rooms were 4 star, the management and customer service gives this hotel a 1 star. Poor desk service that went beyond inattentive and rude. No refunds for unused rooms that we had to cancel with multiple days warning - that were later booked by hotel is not hospitable and fair dealing. Last weekend was my first visit to Sheridan. I absolutely loved the town and this hotel. The main areas of the hotel are decorated with antiques and several beautiful stone fireplaces. The restaurant and bar were gorgeous and the food was very good. The guest rooms are also lovely and comfortable with nicely finished bathrooms. The hotel is in walking distance of Main Street with so many shops, restaurants and bars it will take several more visits to see them all. I'm pretty sure this hotel spoiled any chance of me staying anywhere else in Sheridan - unless it's booked up the next time I plan a trip... read more

Most people just pass through Sheridan. The newly opened Sheridan Inn should give you a reason to make the old west town your destination. I stayed here for one night in the Ned Buntline room right next to the Buffalo Bill room. Surprisingly classy and well thought out decor - was expecting the traditional slight tackiness associated with themed rooms. Everything was modern and unique (and comfy)- I spent half an hour just exploring the details. Watched a sunset on the historic porch while eating bison nachos (!!!) and drinking wine from the attached restaurant. Listened to a bluegrass band jam on another section of the porch during my dinner. A real treat, and a great welcome to a great western experience in a beautiful part of the country. A historic hotel in downtown. Close to a number of restaurants, which was fortunate as their's was closed. Lots of western art and books set around to look at. Not real convenient for those needing a wheelchair as the ramp was on the opposite end of the building from the one door you can enter. Close to the tracks and even thought the trains do not use their airhorn, they make enough noise to wake a light sleeper. (Heavier insulated curtains may help.) An old building with a lot of creaking floors and vibrations, they could pass it off as haunted. A great place for the history minded but if you really need your sleep I would recommend elsewhere. read more

The Sheridan Inn is located in the historical area of Sheridan WY. When we arrived, we parked at the south parking lot of the Inn. Frankly, the area surrounding the Inn is rather industrial although the Inn itself is gorgeous. After trying to open several doors which were all locked, we finally made it around the Inn and found the open door leading to the registration counter. Once inside, the person at the counter warmly welcomed us. In fact, she even gave us a short tour of the Inn after checking us in. Moreover, she also made a reservation for us at the Open Range restaurant that is located within the Inn. Good thing the Inn has an elevator as our Broncho Billy room was on the third floor. After a long day on the road, it would have been disheartening to have to lug our luggage up the stairs to the third floor. The Broncho Billy room was marvelous. The furnishings were appropriately of a western motif. The bed was very comfortable. My wife found the bed to be so comfortable that she slept soundly through the night. As this was the 17th day of of our road trip, this was a major accomplishment. The area outside of our room had comfortable couches and chairs. The breakfast was simple but scrumptious. The staff person whom we saw in the morning was very cordial and friendly. If you are in Sheridan, I highly recommend the Sheridan Inn. How often do you have an opportunity to stay at a fantastic historical hotel where Buffalo Bill once held court? Add in the reasonable rates, the comfortable rooms, and nice ambience, you will definitely enjoy staying at the Inn. read more

Prearranged lunch stop on our tour. We were told that our lunch would we awaiting us when we walked into the dining room... and it was. We were told we could take half a sandwich and either a salad or a cup of soup. The problem is that those of us at the end of the line were left with little more than scraps. Tasty scraps, but scraps nonetheless. The people at the front of the line got a choice or shaved prime rib or Reuben sandwiches along with either tossed salad or a cup of creamy beef barley and mushroom soup. Those of us at the back got Reuben tidbits and lots of lettuce with a cherry tomato or two. The ranch dressing was tasty and the meat was tender. Decent food, but a more of a tourist trap. The Inn has been wonderfully restored and redone, but the restaurant's food was still a little shaky. Their bacon is a very strange super-peppery bacon that detracts from the meal ( I wanted the Bison Burger, not strange super-peppery bacon with a side of bison burger). I'm sure they will improve with the time, and the manager on duty was super responsive and helpful, so kudos! read more

Stayed last weekend in Sheridan, WY to attend the Battle of Little Big Horn anniversary events at the historical site/battlefield and on the Crow Agency. We ate dinner at the Sheridan Inn on Saturday. My husband had the prime rib--which is loved and I had the chicken fried chicken breast, which was also very, very good. Service was good. The hotel was hosting a wedding reception, so we ended up parking about a block away from the hotel/restaurant. We had considered staying at the hotel, but ended up at the Hampton Inn instead. That was a good choice, because the Sheridan Inn has limited parking, so by the time we got back from the events at Little Big Horn, we would not have had an overnight parking space in the hotel's small lot. The food was very, very good. I'm glad we decided to eat there that evening. read more

Its clean, comfortable. Thats all I wanted, just a place to sleep. I took the time to seek out an affordable pet friendly room on Expedia and booked this one. Traveling with two well cared for medium dogs. The office computer was down and I was asked to pay a pet fee in cash. This took a long time and a line of tired people formed behind me as I did not have cash and his credit card machine was on the blink. As I got my key the owner told me it is harder to deal with online reservations and I could have saved money and had no pet fee if I had come in person. Why?? I am still confused.... read more

November 18, 2017. If you bill yourself as high end hotel and the rooms are relatively expensive you need a restaurant to match the rooms. We were there with family who are local and it was just prior to Thanksgiving week. There were eight of us including two children. The food was mostly SYSCO, cold, late, and the service was poor. I worked in restaurants for six years in high school and college from bus boy through room service, dining room waiter, bellman and filled in as a line cook and this place's food was poorly prepared. The hostess had no idea of her job and just hung around the front entrance. The waitress was nice enough but hampered by a slow kitchen. If there was an executive chef he must have been off and the line cooks must have been drinking. I know there was no expediter. Simple things: 1. Bread should be warmed (they have machines that do that) and a variety is appropriate. How hard is it to throw in a little cranberry or walnut bread, perhaps a scone or small biscuit, or hard bagette. I know they have no pastry chef or baking staff. The commercial rolls were a little below Golden Corral and the butter was rock hard (again they have machines that regulate the temperature of butter). 2. When a hamburger ordered by a seven year old is sent back because it has blood running on the plate, don't send it back out still rare. Here is a clue. Most children generally don't like to eat blood in their meat. There is a reason its a kids menu. Kids want simple food, that they have tried before and is not threatening. 3. Poor (late, slow, inconsistent) service was explained away by the staff by having a banquet party scheduled somewhere in the hotel. Here's a thought, bring in more people to work or is this the first banquet to ever book in the hotel. 4. Try to bring most of the food out at the same time especially if its over an hour between ordering and service. 5. Try to bring most of the food out somewhere between suitably warm and hot as the food would dictate. 6. The bison soup was home made but lacked salt, flavor and anything to distinguish it from beef soup. And nothing says high end like two little packs of cellophane wrapped Nabisco crackers on the side of your plate. 7. When you order the "chef's special" (in this case fried chicken) you assume it's somehow "special" or at least fresh chicken (not pre-cooked and breaded), hot and possibly juicy. Alas, this chicken fell off the back of a truck already breaded for the convention oven and had that Banquet TV dinner taste that I remember from my Mom's hurried efforts to feed her kids. It was also the size of an undernourished quail. 8. The room was noisy, crowded and awkwardly arranged. The bathroom had a "college bar" quality to it. I have read the other reviews and wonder if I was in the same hotel. I assume the rooms are great and they would have to be to make up for the food and service of the dining room. The chef, most cooks, banquet manager, food and beverage manager and whoever trains the wait staff need to go somewhere else. read more

Our recent stay at the Sheridan Inn was remarkable. The rooms are lovely, beds and bedding luxe, quiet quiet quiet, staff friendly and helpful. Each of the rooms is unique and named for one of Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show stars. I can't recommend it highly enough. Sheridan itself is a lovely town with lots to see and do. We'll be back. We found the Historic Sheridan Inn to be an amazing experience. The place is absolutely beautiful and our 2 night stay was extremely wonderful and fun. We were lucky enough to meet the owners Bob and Dana in the lobby and they made us feel like family. The rooms, decor and atmosphere are awesome. The restaurant had wonderful, delicious food as well.
