Shortly after, I received a text my order was ready. Only thing missing was hours... wasn't sure when to pick up. It's 10-8 FYI. When you arrive, you call the number in the text message, and give them your name, order number, and have your ID ready to show someone through your car window. Someone comes out checks your ID through the window, and if you have a power tailgate or open your trunk they'll put it in your trunk for you! Seamless, painless... can't get any better than that! Can't wait to browse the aisles again & attend an event or two, but they are working hard to get images for their 9,000 SKUs up on the site. Usually they have great varieties of beer and friendly service. Have done curbside pick up a few times in the past with no issues. But last time I placed an order for delivery, I received 4 beers that were obviously damaged with the seal broken, and didn't realize it until I arrived home. The four pack from Troubled Monk were all damaged over carbonated, and when poured only about 100ml of liquid. They should not have been given to a customer and whoever was placing them in our vehicle would have been able to see the damage. Probably the best liquor store I've been to in Edmonton. The variety is outstanding. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed when faced with the decision of which wine to buy. This place has handy stickers on wines that are staff top picks. It's a nice way to try new wines and find new favourites. I normally go for Aussie wines because I know more about those but this place is breaking me out of my comfort zone and allowing me to confidently try some Canadian wines. Hubby loves this place for the beer selection. Quirky beers from all over the world, some gimmicky bottles with dinosaurs or James Bond (that he can't resist). Unparalleled beer selection, with a full section crowded with Alberta craft and a large cooler filled with every other kind of cider, mead, ale or lager you could hope to find. Their wine selection is great, and they have an amazing array of spirits including a full offering of Alberta distillers. Recently had the opportunity to check out the Tasting Room for the (Un) Pretentious Wine Pairings, and I was blown away, not only by the event but by the space which was just beautiful. I was absolutely blown away by this place!!! They have over 1800 varieties of beer available and one of the best selections of spirits I've ever seen under one roof! I grabbed a basket and quietly wandered the enormous beer cooler, mumbling "wow" and "this is amazing!", scouring shelf after shelf and aisle after isle of lager, IPA, ale, stout, saison, gose, wheat beer...and so much more! Hubby was extremely happy to see the huge variety of dark rum. They stocked quite a few that can be very hard to find. The fellow who was working was an absolute wealth of knowledge giving us a bit of an interesting history lesson about bourbon, sharing some favourite recipes and giving us some solid advice. Absolutely love these guys, Went in to find an obscure collection of beer brewed in the east coast of Canada for a special persons Birthday party(east coast themed ) which would have taken forever with the help of their Beer Master who immediately knew all the options in availability with neat back story's about each brewery. If you ever get bored of drinking the same beers, then you may want to change it up and go try some craft beers. The best place to go for HUGE selection is Sherbrooke. In my opinion beer lover's dream come true. There are so many different kinds of beers from all over the world that you can spend an hour just browsing the cooler (word of advice, bring a jacket). The beers are arranged from one end, lightest to darkest type beers. Prices range from just over $3 to $10 per bottle, but there are some beers sold in cases too (prices for those can go up to $17). They also carry wine here, but it's the beer you will want to make the trip for. The service here is friendly and they will answer any questions you have. The only downside is that it can be pricey. 4 bottles can run at least $20 (where normally you can buy a case of 12 beers usually for around $17). But, for myself, it's something I don't mind paying to pick up a few bottles of something I never heard of before to try when the mood strikes me (yes they even had a Sirachi beer for a few months!) You probably won't be coming here to pick up tons of beers for a party, unless cost isn't a factor (then feel free to invite me). read more

Sherbrooke Liquor Store is a hidden gem in the City of Champions. I'm not just saying this because it's my closest liquor store, but due to their vast selection and helpful staff. Anyone will be impressed when they walk into the stores cooler as it's 1/3 the size of the store and stocked with over 600 kinds of beer and coolers. Imports, domestics and specialty brews await you. If it's beer you love you should become of a member of their Beer Club. The club offers one to three selections of beer to sample each month and membership lengths are available to suit your "taste"! Now, I'm a wino and this section is my vice. Sherbrooke Liquor has the hard-to-find bottles of vintages you'll delight in savouring. I try and support local and regional businesses as much as possible and am very impressed with the selection of Canadian and Albertan wines. I still love my Naked Grape Shiraz, but am always willing to try something different like the amazing fruit wines from Alberta's only organic family owned and operated en Santé Winery. What is not to love about Sherbrooke Liquor Store... seriously the best selection of beer in town, as well as a pretty awesome selection of spirits as well. The liquor store location is anything but ideal. The surrounding shops are a bit suspect, and the area isn't one of the better ones in the city. This is where my complaining is going to stop. Once you walk into the doors, the staff are usually very good about greeting you. The sliding door to the beer cooler is immediately on the right. Bring your warm coat, it's cold in the cooler. The cooler is chock a block full of beer, some wine and sake. The space between the shelving is very narrow, and usually there isn't enough room to even get past someone else. The shelves are floor to over 6 ft and full of various beers. They have done a pretty good job of grouping the different beers (ie: local, seasonal, pilsners, fruit/flavour, etc.) There are a few tags on the various beers in each section that highlight staff picks and hidden gems. Which is always welcome, as you get to try something that someone else thinks is a winner. The remainder of the liquor store (the heated part) isn't as crammed as the beer cooler, but still offers up a fairly big selection of different spirits and wines. Overall, Sherbrooke is going for uniqueness and not quantity. The beer selection is by far the best in the city. They also have a very nice selection of wines and spirits. Some of the spirits can be had for less, if you are going for the more common ones, the ones that can be found elsewhere. I've had several conversations with different staff, and they are all very helpful and will help guide you if you need assistance. This is my go-to for beer. read more

People are probably reading this and thinking, Natalie, you don't even drink, why are you reviewing a liquor store? Well, because everybody I know likes their expensive booze and I get to come in and shop with them even though I have no idea what I'm doing and just like looking at all the pretty labels on all the bottles. All jokes aside, this place is overwhelmingly incredible. It's quite large and they have probably any beer you could ever dream of in their little cooler section. Prices vary depending on what you're looking to buy and you can grab a bottle from anywhere between $10 for the cheap stuff and $500 for the fancy rich people stuff. The staff are helpful and will assist you if you have any questions, and they'll help you find stuff or give suggestions so you can find something you like. It's in a nice little area in the Sherbrooke neighbourhood, just off the traffic circle, and it's easy to access coming northbound. There's quite a bit of parking but during holidays it gets busy. If I ever decide that I like alcohol i might come back here to buy my goodies. Overall a cool place with friendly staff and a huuuuge selection. read more

Being a fan of old eighties metal, I had heard that that the band Iron Maiden had a beer made for them back in England. Of course, I had to find out where (if at all possible) I could find their "Trooper" beer. After a bit of interwebbing, I came across the Sherbrooke Liquor Store. Apparently, they had one of the best beer selections in the city. Anyhoo, when I walked into the cooling room of Sherbrooke, I was floored! The selection of beer that they had on their shelves was absolutely astounding! One thing that I thought was interesting was that a lot (if not, most) of their hard-to-find imports were not sold by the case or six-pack, but by the individual bottle. After admiring their selection, I still hadn't found "Trooper." I asked a staff member if they had what I was looking for, and he immediately ran to the back, asked how many bottles I would like and brought two fresh, cold bottles of "Trooper" out to me. In the meantime, I had picked out a "Game Of Thrones" red ale to try, only because I'm a fan of the TV show. After a pleasant little conversation with the gentleman behind the register, I walked out of the Sherbrooke Liquor Store with what I initially wanted, something unexpected, a big smile on my face and a reason to come back at a later date... an AC/DC beer. read more

Tomorrow is Snobby Beer Night, and it wouldn't be complete without a stop at Edmonton's candy store for grownups. I don't go often, but when I do, I always find several products I've never seen before. Last time it was a vanilla stout and a limited edition Tuborg. This time it's Thirsty Beaver amber ale, a genuine ginger beer and a saskatoon berry beer. Did I mention that a great deal of the beers offered are locally crafted? I even picked up a digestive beer that comes in a little green box--Perfect for stocking stuffers for my troll. That's how this store makes me feel...Like it's always Christmas there. It's a delight! Being a craft beer fan, this is my "go to" establishment in Edmonton. I have been a customer of Sherbrooke for many years. Sherbrooke carries over 1500 different types of beer, 800 wines and 400 spirits. I'd say that is a pretty decent selection! I appreciate it because I like to be able to try something new on each visit, so my choices are never ending. Sherbrooke has been wonderful about supporting and promoting local breweries. Alley Kat is my favourite and Sherbrooke always has lots in stock. What makes Sherbrooke the shining star for me, besides their sense of community, is their staff. I never remember the fellow's name, but he is very tall and slim and has been able to give me recommendations for wine on several occasions where I was able to thrill a friend with a great host/ess gift! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They seem to have their "experts" on the floor where one knows wine, one knows beer etc. Sherbrooke is a great place to go shopping for gifts. They always have some sort of really great liquor gift packs in stock. They cater to the nerd in me with Star Wars, Star Trek and various other pop culture bar merchandise. Sherbrooke regularly has sampling set up when you walk in the doors. Wednesdays is for wine. If you want to learn about what is new and exciting, they will always be happy to help you out. I love love this place! I've been going here for years, the best part is finding something you haven't tried before and having it be one of your favorite drinks. I was really into a beer line called dogfish, I haven't seen it in the store for a while but one day it might show up. I had it while I was in Houston so maybe it had problems passing the boarder??? I tried vampire sap which is a maple beer (forgive me if I am saying it wrong) and it's local, I love it as much as frulie. They sell crabbies ginger beer here too, ooo so good... Anyhoo I recently found apple pie moonshine here, it comes in a jar but has another top that can easily pour. Omg it is delicious you need to try it! You can find by the tequila section. We popped into Sherbrooke specifically looking to pick up a few bottles of unique beer to include in a Christmas gift and we were blown away with the selection. We of course had heard about Sherbrooke and they definitely lived up to their reputation. I'm a huge fan of service, if anyone knows me, and wow, 5 starts to Sherbrooke for great service! We had bought a Game of Thrones beer for a friend who's a fan of the show and at the till, the cashier asked if we had seen the other bottle as well. We hadn't, and instead of sending us into the cooler, he ran in to get it for us. We ended up then buying two of each of the two bottles plus the other beer and few bottles of wine that we had stopped in for. When I was first offered advice to check out Sherbrooke I thought... blah - how good could it be? I've lived in LA for 5 years after all. Well it turns out that I was wrong. The beer selection grew on me and I enjoyed scripting away at the imagery and beer art work, while also trying intriguing beers from Czechvar to Rogue, and Alleykat to Muskrat ... oh, wait.. I just said that to make it rhyme. but from stouts to lagers to pilsners to ales. Then, I went on to take a halt at ales. Went from Dark ales to pale ales, from English Bay pale ales to Indian Pale Ales to Double IPAs to triple IPAs. The hops grew on me and all I want nowadays is hops in my coffee. It does bring a spring to my step! (music begins to play... read the remainder quickly) This story is one of simplicity, courage, unbridled enthusiasm for beer and a classic example of "don't judge a book by its cover". Spent 30 mins at Sherbrooke and spent 70$ on single bottles of beer. So you tell me if I like it here. Selection has to be the best in the city, maybe even Calgary as well. You'll find a lot of interesting selection here all nicely organized by type. You'll find something worth trying no matter how much of a beer snob you are. Don't take it from me though, everybody raves about this place. And it does live up to its reputation. Pretty much Edmonton beer heaven. A previous reviewer docked SL stars for not providing a wider array of US Microbrews. I feel this is an unfair criticism of Sherbrooke, as they pledge to stock every label that is actually available for sale in the province, aside from certain breweries taking advantage of Alberta small brewer tax laws...ahem...Minhas. The US is by far the most cutting edge and quality producer of craft brews, and their dearth of availability here is not because this store wouldn't sell them if they could, they just simply aren't distributed here. Blame the system, not the retailer. Its also unfair because many of the brewer's he mentions as leaders in the American Craftbrew movement (Bell's, Boulevard, Great Lakes, Founders, Three Floyds, etc) are not even available across the US, let alone in Canada.
