I had been going to the same tailor in Washington, DC since 1991, so after more than 30 years with someone whose work I trusted, my expectations were pretty high. Then I found Zarif. From my very first visit, Zarif made me feel welcome. She's warm, funny, down to earth, and an absolute pleasure to work with. More importantly, her work is impeccable. I've brought her a number of items over the years, and I'm consistently impressed with the quality of her alterations, her attention to detail, and the care she puts into getting things right. I've also invested in custom clothing over the years, including timeless pieces that are still in excellent condition today. As I've become more intentional about my health and fitness and my size has changed, Zarif has done an outstanding job altering my clothing so that it continues to fit and look the way it should. I needed a dress altered that was too tight in the sleeve openings and way too wide for my torso…read more When I picked the dress up after the alterations were complete, the dress fit perfectly on my torso but the sleeve openings were still slightly too tight. I explained and was told they would try to make a bit more room in the sleeves for me, if possible. Within 10 minutes I tried on the dress again and it felt SO much better and fit great. I really appreciate that they listened to me and made every effort for the dress fit me beautifully. Note: If you arrive on the weekend and the building is locked, just give them a call and they'll come get you! The building is an office building so the front door locks on the weekends.

She even pressed it to make sure the folds were neat and fit well for packing into our carry-ons. She did a great job on telling us what needed to be done depending on our requests and walked us through the entire process to make sure we got what we wanted. In the end we got amazing craftsmanship and know where to go whenever we need something else tailored.

He is very straightforward about what is possible. My first order I left two vests and 6 pair of pants which needed waist and hemming. The vests needed significantly more work. The total for all 8 pieces was $210 which I found extremely reasonable. He estimated a month completion and was done a week early. I have dropped off another 8 pieces today- 5 pair of pants and 3 dresses. I am confident I will get them back finished beautifully.
