We'd ride our bikes here, using the ice creams as treats and calorie deficits, or come here to see the alpacas and come for lunch. The place is a little farm, caravan park, campsite, with rabbits, cattle, poultry, alpacas, goats you can feed, sheep, allsorts, and a little chalet where you can have your lunch, or buy farm shop type goodies. Lunch is pretty basic, a few choices of soups, sandwiches, salads, and the beauties that are Staffordshire oatcakes. But hell, I know that's not what you're after. You guys want the icecream don't you? Well, it's awesome, get yourself a big fat banana split, a sundae, cones, tube, to eat in, or you can purchase little cinema style single serving tubs, or treat yourself to varying litres, yes, litres. I'm personally always a fan of a banana split, as I can pretend I'm not being completely awful to my waistline, and you get to pick three flavours. My current absolute favourite is the Jaffa cake icecream, I described it to my other half, and he said its description was more unnecessarily arousing than the old marks and Spencer's ads. This isn't just any icecream, this is: tiramisu, Turkish delight, vanilla, blackcurrant, tutti fruity, bubblegum, chocolate, blackcurrant and licorice, ginger and lime, cappuccino, strawberry, dulce de leche, banana, banoffee, mint n choc, cherry, honeycomb, and so so much more thick, creamy, jersey cow deliciousness. You can buy it by the cone or in various sized tubs. Obviously the bigger tub you buy, the cheaper it works out per litre ( by the biggest!! He he ). There is a lovely field outside with picnic benches, perfect to drive, cycle or walk to. If coming from Stafford it is possible to get there on a cycle path, google it.

The texture is deliciously smooth and creamy, with the flavours being suitably both devilishly rich and indulgent (dark chocolate) or slightly more refined and smooth (tiramisu). On my first visit I plumped for having tiramisu flavour gelato in a brioche bun - who can say no to brioche and gelato, with cream (of course)? This combination of the rich and creamy gelato in a soft and sweet bread bun is to die for. This was accompanied by a double espresso, made with the superbly deep and rich tasting coffee from Extract Coffee company. On my second visit I plumped for a two-scoop cone and chose dark chocolate and tiramisu flavours - amazing! The gelato sold here earns the description artisan and is handmade on site everyday by a family that has over 100 years of gelato making experience using both locally and where required, internationally sourced ingredients for the best flavour. It may not be the cheapest in town but you definitely get what you pay for - heaven in a tub/cone/brioche/ on a stick (you get the idea)!

As each and every serving is made right in front of your eyes, it's fresh. That means that the flavour is everything it could be. As it's frozen in seconds, it's also very smooth. That means that there's a velvety texture and a creaminess that you won't find in the tub at the bottom of your freezer. The Science: The liquid nitrogen rapidly creates miniscule ice crystals, quickly evaporating after coming into contact with the ice cream base. Liquid nitrogen boils at -196C, meaning that there won't be a trace of it left by the time you've given yourself brain freeze. I think it's safe to say if Science lessons were this much fun (and edible) I would have left school with a completely different career path.
