Shelby Turvey is the practitioner I choose and I couldn't be happier. She is so attentive and compassionate. She truly cares and listens. There are some who care, but the majority know it is hard to get help and it shows in their attitude. Most of the nurses feel it is beneath them to help a resident get to the bathroom, and since there are not enough aides, you could wait 40 minutes for help. If you have someone there, it is important to be there with them for the majority of the day, or they will not be helped. The staff is overworked and resentful. My husband was there for 12 weeks and by the end he was begging me to get him out of there.

The staff at this location has always been wonderful, and treat our family like friends rather than patients. I am always in awe of this physicians office and all of its staff. They operate like a well oiled machine! Never late for appointment times, responsive on every contact method. We love Dr. Marshall, and all of the nurses and staff at this office. When I had my twins, I was drowning in post partum and did not realize that I was. At the first appointment when released from the NICU, Dr. Marshall checked over my boys, and immediately turned her attention to me... even though it wasn't my appointment. What most people need to realize, is the importance of building a relationship with the staff caring for your loved one. It is a team effort. This is a care facility. They cannot and should not be expected to give private duty nursing services. It is unrealistic for any facility to be expected to do this. You have to be willing to reach out to the staff and work with them. Come to them with concerns, but also realize a thank you goes a long way when you do this very hard work. I can't begin to thank the staff for the care dad received especially during his final days. I stayed with my dad to care for him and make sure he knew he was not alone. I believe that was my honor and duty, but this staff cared for me as well as my dad. The concern for my well being touched me to my core. I will not forget the compassion my father and I received by all the staff. The flower arrangement that was sent to the funeral home was so beautiful and very appreciated. Staff who became friends were there at the funeral home to support me and my family. Their concern did not stop as dad was taken from the facility. If you are looking for a facility to "team care" for your loved one, stop looking, the Lakes of Sylvania should be strongly considered. I will only refer folks to this facility.

The communication which existed between Lakes of Sylvania and her family was also tremendous. Each day an updated Covid report was to be found in my email and a weekly video was posted to inform all families members of the events of the week. About six months later I had no choice but to go to a gynecologist because of the pain. I had an ultrasound done and my reproductive system was covered with endometriosis, needles to say, I had to have a total hysterectomy.
