What motivates this review is that just the other day, an Atlas Driving School car failed to yield to my right-of-way as I was crossing the street and came within inches of hitting me. The driver began screaming and making obscene gestures - as if it's MY fault that he nearly killed me. If the outrageous driving behavior of their "instructors" is any indication, this "school" will teach you to be a rude, impatient, inattentive and unsafe driver.

When I initially started at Shift Above 2, my confidence level was basically zero due to frustrating and unsuccessful attempts at learning prior. After giving Mike background on my previous experiences and how i was now feeling about learning, he immediately established a comfortable learning environment by ensuring that the pace of the lessons were entirely dictated by my comfort level. In those first few sessions, I really appreciated that he was highly perceptive. ​Whenever I struggled with a maneuver or began to show signs of distress, he didn't push me. Instead, he would alter the current technique or introduce a different approach that was much better suited to my skill and confidence level. This adaptive teaching style was fundamental in preventing old feelings of frustration from resurfacing. Soon after, I found myself driving confidently in moderate traffic on main roads and performing K-turns and backing up with very little nervousness. Both the female and male instructor answer phone calls during the driving lesson and it's hard to focus. They talk more about their personal lives than giving actual advice on how to drive. They might know how to drive. Doesn't mean they know how to teach people. I called them before my first lesson and they said 50 for an hour. When I get in the car they said 60. They constantly keep their hands on your wheel instead of giving you the practice on your own that you need. They are extremely unprofessional and I don't recommend you waste your time or money.
