Formerly a bank, the 1890's exterior is a dignified example of 'banker's classical' architecture, and the inside is spacious with wood panelling, high ceilings and an imposing staircase leading to an upstairs function-room. As you'd expect for a town centre pub, it has a wide range of clientele, though is reasonably quiet most lunchtimes. It has sports TV and is probably best avoided during big footie matches, but otherwise is a dependable venue. The ground floor is fully wheel-chair accessible.

I would imagine you could spend many a happy afternoon here during the summer months. The Sandrock seems to putting a lot of thought into its food offering and the menu looked very appealing without straying too far into gastro territory. Probably due to the heat, another 27 degree day, we went down the snackage route and shared some very tasty chicken and chorizo skewers, a sausage sandwich and a bowl of beautifully cooked chips.
