My new condo came with early 2K blond oak cabinetry in both the kitchen and bathrooms. Ugh! Refinishing to a darker wood tone was nullified by an expert who pointed out the difficulties of getting a consistent wood grain finish. He suggested that I paint them. Sure, I know how topaint stuff. But, after reading many many Internet horror stories of DIY paint projects, I looked for a professional painter with experience and a history of success. Bam! Shelly's Kitchen and Design. From start to finish, Shelly and her staff were committed to making this project, which also included new countertops for both areas, a complete success, and it was! Everyone who I met or spoke with; Hannah, Holly, Liza, Carrie or Jason, took the time to explain their individual role in this process, including Shelly. Her experience and guidance were invaluable, her patience greatly appreciated and her straightforward approach to decision making was - in a word - refreshing. Visiting the shop a couple of times to choose colors and hardware allowed me to see the operation in person. I saw the same types of cabinetry go in the RUSS booth and come out perfectly painted. Shelly's Kitchens did an amazing job giving our kitchen a new look! Our cabinets were in great shape and were a solid oak wood. After living in our home for 15 years, we were ready for a change but didn't want to spend a ton of money. Shelly's Kitchens gave us a phenomenal new look for a fraction of the cost of replacing my entire kitchen with new cabinets. Our home is an open concept and seeing our updated, modern kitchen makes me love my home again! The quote process was very easy through the website and I got a response very quickly. They were extremely professional and attentive to all of my questions. My husband and I visited their shop to see what the finished product would look like before deciding and we actually really love the grain of the wood still visible through the paint. It gives our kitchen so much character! Everyone who came to our home was professional and polite. We had a small issue with a hardware hole being in the wrong place and they took the door back to the shop, corrected the issue and brought it back within a week. From beginning to end, the process was about two and a half weeks, and that includes the door they had to make a return trip for. Everything was clearly communicated. Very unhappy with the professionalism of the owner Shelly. Seems that she has grown her business to the point that she lacks in Customer Service skill. Absolutely no tact. Friendly in the beginning, doesn't follow through. Shelly doesn't communicate, no follow ups. My project took over 4 weeks to complete! It should have taken 11/2 weeks, start to finish. Did not follow work order, drilled double holes into my cabinets doors when there should have been single holes, took off and changed door hardware hinges without my permission. Doors use to open one way, now they open the other and bang into my wall. Shelly ordered pull handles to be delivered to my house, sent me a towel rack instead. (Of course this is all my fault) why because she drilled double holes instead of single holes where I was reusing my single knobs. Did not read work order!!! Shelly came to my home yesterday because the pull handles arrived (because she had not ordered enough) and I asked her who would install them. I greeted her at the door. She had no mask, was not wearing a mask. She walked into the kitchen turned around at me said we needed to talk and immediately started to lay into me! I told her when you enter my house you take off your shoes. She walked in with her shoes on, hair all over her head, no mask, very unprofessional, and blamed me for her not getting her job done. I told her she was in my home and she does not have the right to talk to me that way. She headed to the door and said I'm leaving. I told her not until she finishes the job! She did install the pull handles. Some of them crooked! Took over 4 weeks to do this job. She did not follow work order, did what they wanted. Very unprofessional, no communication unless I contacted her, never came to inspect the job. Brought me someone else's cabinet doors , had to locate mine. Left me the wrong color touch up paint. I have Chantilly Lace cabinets, they left me white dove touch up paint. Ladies and gentleman. This lady has taken on way more than she can handle. She is not a professional person and blames others for her mistakes! Find another reputable company! Do not give her your hard earned money because you will be disappointed. The ONE good thing out of this was her painter, Liz. Liz was fabulous. Liz is a beautiful painter. She is leaving the company. Onto bigger and better things! Good for her! She saved the job! Do not use Shelly's Kitchens! Take your business elsewhere! read more
