I first met Dr. Peng through a family member who used to see her for treatment after her hysterectomy. My husband and I had spent 2 years trying to conceive, and after taking tests to find out what our issue was, the results pretty much didn't explain anything. It was great to know nothing was wrong with us...but unfortunate because we still didn't have any answers.
We decided to try IUI. We did three rounds and they all failed. We then decided to try IVF. I have a fear of needles, so IVF was very difficult for me to do. The intensity of the whole procedure was very stressful. THE stress was probably why this failed as well. I felt completely defeated and hopeless. I began to think it wasn't in the stars for us to have a baby...until I met Dr. Peng.
At first, I was skeptical because I was feeling so negative at the time. During our consultation, she asked me to take a 3 month break before trying IVF again. That request was heartbreaking for me to hear because to me, it was yet another 3 months of waiting. I was 38 at the time, so that felt like precious time "wasted." But she explained that we could obviously keep trying naturally, and that she would need that much time to get my body where it needed to be in order to support a healthy pregnancy.
I decided to trust her. I would see Dr. Peng...2 times, maybe 3 times a week, and during this time also receiving such love and positive energy from her entire staff. I felt like I had cheerleaders on my side who were completely dedicated to helping me relax and ease my mind that this was going to work! I even tried to resist this optimism because I was afraid of getting disappointed again and didn't want them to get my hopes up.
So three months went by and I was still not pregnant naturally, so we told Dr. Peng we'd try for another round of IVF and although she was still confident that we didn't need to, she supported our decision and worked with us to support my body during this process....coinciding her strategy with every step of our IVF. You could always see her thinking and could feel that she was so invested in making this successful.
In the first IVF cycle that failed, 9 eggs were retrieved...only 1 of them was good enough to proceed. After seeing Dr. Peng, the second IVF cycle, 10 eggs were retrieved and 8 of them became embryos...and were "beautiful" as the doctors described them.
Today, I have a healthy 4-year old son and a 1-year old daughter because of Dr. Peng. I credit her for not only helping me physically, but for also healing my mind and making me realize that positive and healthy thinking was a huge part of this whole process. I had to be just as dedicated to the treatment as she was...and dedicated she was! I occasionally go to her for other ailments to this day. Her staff has changed a bit since the first day I met her, but her regulars Luna and Melissa are also amazing! She is so thorough and knowledgeable about everything and to say that she is caring feels like an understatement. I truly admire Dr. Peng's passion for treating her patients, but most importantly, she is a beautiful person inside and out. read more
