The first plumber was contracted through our home warranty. The first plumber said there were several issues not up to code and it would be a week until they could fix everything. My hot water heater was failing so i reached out to Shellback Plumbing and they had a technician (Adan) at my house within an hour to look at the unit. Adan confirmed that the aging hot water heater had internal damage that was causing it to leak water so he hauled the old unit away and returned the next morning with a brand new unit and stand. Had an appointment with Shellback at 10:00am today for an estimate. I scheduled this appointment 2 weeks ago. At 10:10am I received a phone call from the company. The lady stated that they did not have the man power for this job and that the appointment was canceled. Really?! I just drove an hour to meet this guy! They just figured out they couldn't do the job - not having seen the job? They couldn't figure that out even a day before? And the woman on the phone wasn't even apologetic about the whole thing. These guys really worked with us and even sent a technician over during the middle of the Thomas and Rye Fires when their computer was down. They were able to do same day work, which was really a life saver given our situation. They quoted us at $125 minimum service charge and that they would send a technician over there to give me a quote and that if I didn't want to use them, then no charges would be made. Our Technician Alex was helpful and was able to handle multiple issues within a quick timeline. One of the charges was higher than I expected but when I contacted the manager to ask about it, he walked me through the items and made me feel like he was really doing us a fair equitable service. I called Shellback Plumbing on July 5th after our water line broke the night before (4th of July) and the water company shut off our water. It was a plumbing emergency!! Steve arrived at our house less than an hour after our initial call. Let me tell you something...it was a very hot day and Steve worked his a** off in the sun. I was looking for estimates for a whole house water filter & conditioner. Jesse came out the same day to do a free estimate. He was quite thorough in assessing the situation and answering any questions I had. The estimate came with a realistic assessment of how long things would take and a heads-up that the water would need to be shutoff for the entire duration. This enabled us to plan accordingly. Their price was the best of the estimates we got. The install was clean; Jesse made sure we were on the same page about the plan and took into account clearance for my existing water heater shutoff valve and two electrical outlets when positioning the filter & conditioner tanks. The work was done on time and without any surprise charges. Jesse was friendly and professional. Guy shows up and then tells us it is almost $500 for a kitchen faucet replacement that would take 30 minutes. I can understand a minimum but this is highway robbery. Plus we had to pay $39 for his to tell us the price. I am sure they are great at their job but this price was so unreasonable there was no way I was paying 2 1/2 times the cost of the faucet to have it installed. I have someone else coming that will do it for $100. I will never call this company again. read more

They snaked from the roof vent and cleared our issue, then dropped a camera, and we looked at the main waste pipe. They explained options in case of future problems. Gary and his team are great. I shopped around extensively, not only for price, but quality of service, quality of parts, convenience and most importantly for someone who is going to be honest. Spoke to Gary and just a few days he had a team of two guys at my house 8am sharp. They replaced almost a dozen angle stops (valves for hot/cold water) and fixed a leaky toilet. The guys were friendly and did an amazing job. They double, triple checked all valves to make sure they were installed tightly without any leaks. Some plumbing companies bid almost $100 more and wanted to install cheaper quality parts. It just goes to show you, it's important to understand the price, but also what parts are being used. Saving money while getting cheap plastic parts is not really saving money in the long run. Gary's team used higher end parts that are made to last.
