It is not as high-priced as the previous Yelper would lead you to believe, and just a few cents higher than the other gas stations further down Rosecrans. They sell snacks inside and have a small fix-it garage where probably the old lady matrons of Point Loma bring their late model Mercedes for tune-ups. It is nice that the La Playa section has a small gas station for emergencies. There is a Point Loma Moped store right around the corner from Good Point and I bet it is very convenient for that store to be within stumbling distance of some good gas.

This week, the franchise owner came to his senses and now is selling the same unleaded regular for $3.99/gallon. I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing things right. I clamored in to put some of that good Union 76 gas in my tank, and asked why the change of heart and price? The attendant didn't really offer an explanation. If they keep the prices low and don't go gauging again, I would be happy to put this YELP up to 5 STARS. Additionally, this station offers free 12 oz. cups of coffee to all customers who gas up between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. After that the doors are locked and you pay through an outside walk-up window.

NARRATIVE: I recently stayed at the Naval Base Point Loma Annex and ended up driving here the NEX for cheap gas, not knowing the gas station was temporarily closed for refurbishment. So, I did the next thing I could do. I went inside to check out the prices of alcohol and to buy a few red "bomb" burritos. Because this NEX isn't near any of the big bases, they seem to carry a little bit of everything. From alcohol and snacks to, uniform items for both enlisted and officer's. It's a nice place to grab something quick but, you may pay more for the convenience. SCENE: This NEX store (number 472) and gas station are located on Nimitz Blvd at Rosecrans St. During normal business hours, there are no gates or guards to keep you out but, the gas station normally has an attendant who checks for authorized persons and, if you shop inside the store. They will require ID on check-out. RECOMMENDATION(S): Not a huge store but, the NEX gas station prices are normally $.5 and maybe more cheaper than a civilian station. If you have a Star Card. I usually just pay at the pump. But the few times I have gone in, it's been fine...... Well..anyways. I wanted to write about my experience with a wonderfully helpful employee named Ciris. I stopped at a few places trying to buy my lottery tickets but no one knew how to print multiple lines and two draws. When I walked into Shell, I asked Ciris if she knew how and she said "No". I sighed and said "ok, thanks anyway" and she said "wait, let's figure it out." Which she did. It was just so nice to have that kind of customer service. She was very nice, had patience and didn't just say "sorry, try somewhere else". Ciris is the kind of employee that customers remember and that businesses want because she actually cares about trying to help a customer. Well done Ciris! I will see you again. And Thank you!
