Be VERY aware of the gas price here. When you exit Bypass 20, there are two gas stations available…read morewithout going too far up 11th Street, Road Ranger and this Mobil. When you exit the Bypass, you have a clear view of the Mobil gas sign, but the Road Ranger sign is cleverly obscured by other signs from nearby businesses. There is no way to see the gas price at the Road Ranger. Mobil is VERY aware of this. I live two blocks from this station and I drive by it quite often. Many days, usually around 11am or so, the gas price will jump around fifteen cents per gallon. This isn't atypical behavior of gas stations. What is odd is that around 5-6pm the same evening, the gas price will retreat the same amount to the pre-jump price. I have witnessed this gas price manipulation many, MANY times. For those 6-7 hours, the gas price is artificially bumped to squeeze a few extra hundred dollars from unsuspecting motorists who can save by going to the gas station whose sign you can't see (Road Ranger). Check it out for yourself sometimes. Sorry, Mobil. Unless somebody gives me a gas card as a gift, you will NEVER get my business. The locally-owned Road Ranger gives a substantial amount of money to charity so I will support this non-gouging gas provider.

Without a doubt, they have really changed my perception of what a travel stop should look like, providing a great alternative to the Illinois Travel Oasises which seem to be dwindling in number. The gas always pumps quickly with easy to use reward programs, the restrooms are always well stocked and clean, there's plenty of souveniers to buy, and I'm surprised at the massive amount of snack and especially drink options that are available. In addition, the massive amount of parking space makes it a great place to hangout if you need to take a rest.

This shop in Rockford has clean bathrooms and a wide selection of food and drinks. We even bought some lottery scratch off tickets on the way out. You can even get fast food at Hardee's. The inside was clean but the part that gave the station a 5 star...... CLEAN BATHROOM!!! Nothing fancy to it, just a clean bathroom that obviously the employees keep up constantly.
