Terrible customer service (rude, unpleasant, etc.). Prefer to run out of gas than having to go there...

Esso - I like that you can pump gas and pay inside without prepaying.

I backroad my commute home from work along Steeles Avenue West and East, and drop by this store for snacks and drinks. Last night, I needed to fill my car up with gas. I also had a digital $2 coupon to use towards a gas fill-up. I dropped by for my snacks and drinks ritual, along with fuelling my car at this Esso station. There were three other customers using the gas pumps at this station. I had no problem finding one. Paying at the pump is straightforward. The challenge can be pre-paying for gas, especially when you have a coupon that you can only present in-store. Some gas pumps state that you must go inside to arrange pre-paying for gas. The ones at this Esso are more lenient. You fuel you car first and then go inside Circle K to pay. I like the convenience and trust. I filled my car's gas tank, and then went inside the store to redeem my gas coupon, along with two other coupons for snacks and a drink. The gas pump had clear instructions. The area was clean. No complaints. I am a regular. The male staffer behind the counter recognized me. It's good having established such a relationship. I redeemed all three coupons ($2 off gas, BOGO on peanuts, and a free Joker drink) on my phone. Scanning everything went well. I then scanned the PC Optimum barcode from my phone, and paid with a credit card. Done! The man wished me a great evening. I reciprocated and headed to my car to continue my commute home. I do like the Circle K here. I can also say that I like this Esso, too. Easy peasy. Super breezy, especially with the recent temperature dip. =) (354)

VERY rude employees who obviously shouldn't be working on other people's vehicles, and they will brag about their experience while they mess up your vehicle and take NO RESPONSIBILITY whatsoever. After getting an oil change, I noticed oil leaks at home and at work, so I took my car to my mechanic then got hit with a massive repair bill due to the fact that during the oil change, the oil filter was not replaced properly, causing oil to soak my engine damaging the alternator. The entire engine had to be shampooed and oil soaked belts replaced and it all cost me $1500. I was lucky (probably because the months are colder now) that my car didn't catch fire. Getting a hold of the owner is an impossibility, no-one ever picks up the phone, and upon my surprise visit, I noticed a pad with my NAME, NUMBER, CAR MAKE AND MODEL right beside the phone. They were screening my calls and deliberately avoiding me! IF you deal with these people and the manage to screw you over, GET THE LAW INVOLVED. I had no choice.

He told me to come back in 20 minutes when he had finished his lunch. I went over to Canadian Tire to pick up some items and returned. The technician opened the service bay doors and I drove in. The technician then turned his back to me and began shuffling through papers. After a few minutes, I asked him what he was doing. He told me that he was doing paperwork that would take about 20 minutes. I did not have time to wait and left. Another customer was waiting at the service bay door and he asked me where I was going. I told him what the technician had told me and the customer stormed into the office area. I did not wait to see the outcome of that interaction. I was annoyed enough at what happened that I called the station later and asked to speak to the manager. The technician answered the phone and claimed to be the manager. I told him that I recognized his voice and would get in touch with the manager by email. I outlined what happened in an email to the manager who happens to actually own the station. He told me that he has another job and only works at the station on Saturdays. He told me that because I was a long standing customer and as an apology, he would provide a free oil change if I came by on Saturday. I went back and while I never did meet the owner, a young woman had been briefed as to what happened and I got the free oil change. That should have been the end of that but a few days later, I noticed a trail of oil on my driveway. I returned to the station and the technician who did the oil change told me that he had failed to clean the pan and that was what caused the oil leak. In fact, he had not tightened the new oil filter and the oil subsequently leaked out completely. I went to another service provider to replenish the oil and this was confirmed. I would advise to stay away from this service station. The customer service is poor and the technicians do not know what they are doing.

I came to this car wash since they were the most convenient Esso gas station with soft cloth available between work and home. They scrub your car with a brush before you enter, which gets rid of most of the bug splatters that after taking my car through another soft cloth car wash at a competitor's gas station 3 times couldn't get rid of. The bumper still had some minor bug splatter and the trunk had a spot on it that didn't wash off. I spoke to the manager, and he told me that the the stain on the trunk needed to be remove with an abrasive fluid due to the type of stain it was. As for the front bumper, he said that he could have the guy with the brush scrub it harder, but there's a chance of scratching the car. He offered me another car wash, but I told him that if there's a chance of scratching my car, I'd rather leave it as-is. I typically get my car washes with points, so since car washes at Esso are cheaper in points than a competitor's station AND they do a better job at cleaning my car, I'm definitely returning to this gas station for a car wash in the future. Top of the line fo' shizzle!

Now, I live around this area and go here frequently to fill up my gas and buy food inside, however, there are some problems that I encounter frequently and here they are: 1) The morning/evening shift management and employees are very rude and inexperienced who don't know what they are selling. If I, for example, ask one of them for a LARGE KING STUDIO cigarettes, then they SHOULD KNOW WHAT IT IS AND WHERE IT IS since their stock display IS NEATLY LABELLED AND ORGANIZED for them to read. 2) The washrooms are not maintained to which you can expect urine and paper towels on the floor when you go there during the day. 3) Some of there Ready-To-Eat sandwiches are not fresh and sometimes are expired. Now, the only reason that I will give this location a 2 star rating is because of one KIND, INTELLIGENT and ALERT employee who works over there by the name of Karamjeet. Karamjeet has been working at this location for about a couple of years now and he is very polite and friendly with all of his customers and KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! He is also a VERY FUNNY GUY who always jokes around claiming that he owns 25 to 50% of Suncor (Petro Canada's parent company). Hey Karamjeet, CAN I HAVE THIS STORE THEN?? LOLZ. But yeah, Karamjeet makes my day (or night, since he works there for the graveyard shift) every time that I go there and you should probably come around this time to meet and buy from him. On behalf of my friends, family and co-workers, THANK YOU, KARAMJEET, for making us feel welcome as you ARE AN OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE for this location!
