Unique wines. Fine wines. A carefully curated collection of bottles from France, Italy, California, Pacific Northwest, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, and more. I chatted with the owner, who praised my selection and told me he keeps shop because he LOVES fine wines and beers. I'll have to check out the beers next time. The shop also carries a wide selection of affordable wines and standard brands. I think I Just found my go-to local beverage stop.

I would feel comfortable going off their recommendations - they have a $20 wine rack smack dab in the center with offerings from everywhere. They have cases of wine in the low teens that they tout. They have shelves in the front of the store with everyday wines like Barefoot, Sutter Home, etc. This is all in a small square corner of a gas station (yes, a 2 pump gas station) on Clifton Blvd right across from Lucky's Market. Don't fret, there is some parking behind the store because it's chaos in the little lot that houses the gas pumps. Glass enclosed cashier area gives you the feel of Cleveland inner-city. Also heard that women get verbally harassed in the late night hours by men who are hanging out on the property. That may sound harsh, but it is not a "bad area". Just an area to be "alert" in. And it is perfectly fine during the day (unless you get hit by a car driving too quickly into the Starbucks across the street). If you are a diehard wine fan, this stop is a MUST Northeast Ohio. For such a small area, I might proclaim it the best overall selection on the West Side (yes, better than Rozi's or Red, Wine & Brew or the various Heinen's or Avon Wine Room). Just because they have a huge selection of extensive serious wines in the $100 - $400 range. Plus they have the selection of the under $10 bottle, plus they have many offerings in the teen range. Worth going in and checking out this eclectic spot!

When I shop I always take notice to people who remember their regular customers. At Moons you are welcomed by your first name! The store carries chips, beverages, wine, ice cream, medicine, bakery, sandwiches,news papers and much more. The store comes under the category of convenient store even though there are other stores on the same corner. but I'm sure most people go into Moons just to go to Moons, say hello, tell a story or maybe, like me, I have been going there for 20years or so. Now I have to give massive kudos to this awesome Lakewood gas station which is not only shiny and new but has free air for anybody. That's one of the coolest things I've ever heard. Nobody gives free air - these guys do. It was a godsend on this particular night, as I had a slow leak. I was impressed and happy about it. So this was where I ended up changing my tire and it took about three hours (1am-4am) and other than an Ashton Kutcher look alike who popped in to put free air in his tire there was never a point where anybody bothered me or hit me up for anything - so it's definitely in a safe area. I think I saw more cops out here than regular cars. The tire changing was a nightmare, but the gas station was awesome. It's well-lit even when it's closed. I guess that's my only complaint is that they close late at night - but other than that it's the perfect gas station.

And since my car was due for an oil change anyways, I decided I'd try out Detroit Automotive. Your typical car care center inside a gas station, the girl at the front desk was friendly. She said everyone just went on lunch so it could be awhile, no biggie, my parents lived literally a mile away so I just walked there. An hour later, the car was ready. Standard oil change, car check up stuff, it was free so I can't comment on the prices. But what really surprised me was the fact that they did a follow up phone call which I felt was above and beyond because for all they knew, I was just a girl with a gift certificate and never coming back. If I wasn't trying to learn how to take care of my car myself, I totally would!
