My friend in Houston is a high price escort (possibly kidding, no comment) and sometimes just for fun she likes to drive up and down Bisonnet on Friday and Saturday nights and check out the competition. A couple of friends of hers walk around here (lol) and a lot of really shocking spectacular things are on show, the likes of which you would not expect to see on the streets of the USA, and would not want your kids to see. So don't drive them around here after dark. Trust me. This gas station is at the end of the strip (and away from the action, but close), and always seems to have cheaper gas prices than everybody else in the area. In that regard it's absolutely awesome. I referred to this as my gas station because it is. So despite the occasional panhandling this is absolutely a five star gas station. And very conveniently located right on the entrance to the 59 so that after cruising up and down hooker alley, yes that's its name, you can fill up in gas right before you get on the highway to go home to the rich neighborhood. I mean you're on Yelp aren't you? So you have time to Yelp? So you aren't living in Greenpoint or the Barrio, are you. Just kidding obviously. What a bougie piece of sh** I sound like right now. As I monitored and compared with other gas stations within 2 mile radius, I found some interesting facts. When the gas prices are above $2.00, this is the cheapest gas station to come to. But recent gas prices of below $1.79; there is not much difference from another Shell station a mile away at Beechnut (http://www.yelp.com/biz/shell-houston-50). All businesses have operating overhead, you know. Instead of driving all over town to find cheaper gas, come here only if you are in this part of town. Just look at these 12 pumps, but no diesel pump. The bathroom is located at the car wash building. My typical experience is worn out keypad on the pump and I need to change pump to press "enter." Also, the pumps are not fast. It could take longer to finish the pump. The tire pressure machine worked 100% of time when I needed it. At night, pay attention to your surroundings. There are not as many panhandlers at this station. I rarely enter the food mart. I can't validate other reviewer's claim. Just remember, this is not a most desirable neighborhood. During daylight, there are a lot of traffic on feeder road. So, you are safer.

There is an access door to Burger King from Inside of the store. I love its convenience, just right off of Beltway and Beechnut - busy interaction with 2 entrances. And, the most importantly, there are 3 fast food joints in short walking distance: Burger King with 24/7 drive-thru and a Taco Bell/KFC joint next door. Unlike many gas stations in Houston, this Shell station doesn't attract loiterers and beggars. The gas station is lit up brightly at night, even when Burger King closed its dining room. I felt much safer to get gas here as compared to the one on Bissonnet.

Had a really poor experience with customer service here (as well as a malfunctioned car wash). I…read moreused their car wash using the Wash n Run subscription that Exxon has, and the machine didn't fully wash all the soap off my car. The dryer also stopped halfway and didn't totally dry my car (left half the car dry and half still wet). I went to tell them that the car wash didn't work very well and to ask if they could rinse the rest of the soap off. Instead of being polite, the cashier said I didn't have a transaction and didn't want to help me. I said I could show him the soap residing on the car and the app to prove that I did get a car wash, and he simply pointed to his computer and said it's not showing up. After asking if I could use a hose or something to rinse off the soap, he just kept pointing to his computer, not showing me the screen, and saying I didn't have a transaction. With my patience dissipated, I said, "I have to say that your customer service is not the best," and he replied, great, good bye. Hmmmm... Pretty dismayed with how the situation was dealt with (not to mention the soap drying on a half wet and half dry car). The self service gas area seems fine but I would stay clear of anything needing any customer service or their car wash.

Who knew…read more This Phillips station right in the heart of Chinatown will get you gas when you're heading North on Wilcrest - or east on Bellaire. It usually has average prices and is very conveniently located right on the corner. It's out on Bellaire next to Lee's Sandwiches and the prices usually aren't that cheap - but it's cool to have a gas station here right in the middle of Chinatown that is exactly where you want it to be. So I'm glad it's here even though I probably avoid getting gas here unless we're kind of urgent, kind of low, and we're right here getting sandwiches or running late for something.
