Staff is always in a good mood and chatting amongst themselves so it gives a friendly family feel when you walk in. I love the snack section because there's thousand of things we don't get back home so this is my one stop shop for my Chex mex and my different kind of Reese cups.

This time, the screen on the card reader was broken and I was unable to use my card. I went inside, let the kid behind the counter know it was broken, he didn't care, and told me to go to Maplefields. I asked him if the quarter function worked. He said yes and when I asked him if I could buy two dollars in quarters he opened the drawer, pulled out two heaping handfuls of quarters, and sarcastically said "no. I can't give you any. I have to save these for my shift." He made a provocative sad face like he was trying to start something and told me again to try Maplefields. As I was leaving o told him someone should put a ticket in with the vendor seeing as their pump is broken. He started arguing with me, and I told hi. That I wasn't arguing with him, just giving him feedback as I manage people and a business. As I was getting into my car, he walked out to yell "have a good day" at me like some little punk trying to start a confrontation, then as I pulled around the building, he ran out, I stopped and rolled my window down and he yelled to have a good day again. Totally unprofessional, trying to provoke a fight, and not someone who should represent anyone's business. This was at 3pm on 2/18. Hopefully management sees this.

This is a fairly large Mobil stop. It's got 4 islands of pumps, backed by a large Maplefields store…read morethat includes a Subway. In addition, it has its own automatic and self-serve car wash garage. I haven't tried the store or the car wash but I can speak for the gas stop and the Subway. The gas is usually mid-priced for the region (which tends to be a few cents higher than average Vermont). The pumps are very slow. They use the push button (not touch sense) keypad self serve system which, in my experience, tends to be slower but these are, by far, the slowest in terms of user interface. Example: Debit Card (yes/no)? Yes (20 seconds pass) Type PIN Number then Enter (enter pin)..20 more seconds or so go by....you get the idea. The Subway isn't bad. It's clean and they offer just about anything you get from any other Subway. The service is a bit on the slow side but not terrible. I was a bit underwhelmed by the last sandwich I got there but then again I haven't tried a Subway sandwich in a while so I guess I'm not sure what I was expecting. The store is clean and large enough to not feel crowded in. There are places to sit and enjoy your lunch/breakfast/whatever. There is also a traffic light there to assist getting back out onto Swanton Road.

Ok, so I went to pay and only had a 50.00 bill before I got it out of my wallet she snapped and said I can't break that. Its pretty sad when a store of that magnitude can't break a 50. She has red hair with curled bangs and very pale skin. I'd guess she was 60 -65 years old. What a horrible cashier and should fired.

There are tons of pumping stations available and the place is just so nice and new and fresh and clean. There's also a car wash and a- wait for it- DOG wash- next door. Yes, you can literally bring your dog here and wash your dog in a self-contained little booth, just like you would your car. I normally don't have such strong feelings about gas stations, but I really liked this place A LOT.

My husband loves their fudge and they always have homemade soup. My biggest surprise surprise was that when I am out when cooking dinner and realize I am missing something, they always have it! You don't expect a corner store to have fresh garlic, onion, ginger and a great selection of spices. Their customer service is always friendly and helpful.

I walked up with my stuff to cash out, as they were in the middle of conversation. None of them stopped talking, or greeted me at all. The lady cashing me out, took my stuff and rang it up as she was talking to the other employees. They didn't ask if I wanted a bag or anything. Never thanked me for my business or said "have a good day". Even after I said "Thank you, have a nice day!" Nothing. It was like I didn't even exist amidst their conversation. This is TERRIBLE customer service! With the option of so many other stores right there, maybe they'd be nicer to customers!

My friend Jack bought a kangaroo from a guy at a pub because he wanted to try and ride it to try…read moreand impress his crush who lives in Derby. He asked me to help him iron his suit and prepare the saddle for him on the day of the big ride and everything was going great until we the kangaroo showed up. THis Kangaroo was a big fella. He was fighter and a real mustang type of animal and my friend Jack started getting nervous as hell. I was soothing his nerves telling him that it was the right thing to do and keeping his spirits up. Instead of riding the kangaroo to the girls house Jack put the kangaroo in his truck and planned on riding it the last mile. When the kangaroo got in the whole affair turned ugly and the kangroo messed up the truck big time so we had to wash it a couple days later. We brought the truck here and it was really good for cleaning it.

However, when you travel with a large vehicle at 5 am, sometimes places with filtered coffee are the only option. One thing they have here, and quite popular in Vermont, is a selection of filtered coffee from "Green Mountain Coffee". To offer it, the have isolated coffee pots to keep the various kind hot, One thing that I worry in those cases is how long ago was this coffee made? Well, I noticed that these pots have little displays with indicators that lets you know how long ago the coffee was made! The place is not really a track stop but some trucks come here and there are diesel pumps for it,

This Maplefields gas station and convenience store is a regular stop while coming off the 89 for…read moregas when we are heading to to the US or heading back to Canada. It's close proximity to the border (roughly 10 miles) and their clean washrooms plus snack selection make it a good stop for us and help serve our needs. Gas was $2.49 a gallon on my stop for 87 octane which is a steal compared to the $1.20 we pay roughly a L in Quebec. They do also have free WIFI that there is no password to login to. On the way back home I was very pleased to pick up two 12 packs of Harpoon beer for $15.99 each. Harpoon is an awesome beer that Is Vermont/Boston brewed. They call it a New England IPA. If you like Sam Adams give Harpoon a try. Sure there is a closer gas station to the border but we enjoy hitting up this one in St Albans and will keep on doing so in our travels in the future!
