But this particular gas station left such an impression that not only did I stop to take pics but I left myself a note to review it on my dash. (My past self helps out my future self a lot...) I stopped in here for a routine gas up after coming back from SSI. First off, the second I walked in the door, both people behind the counter greeted me so cheerfully it made me smile. I grabbed an apple juice and made my way to the counter. I had a side mission to put air in my tires so I asked how much the air pump outside cost. And then I pulled a girlie move. I'm notoriously bad when it comes to cars. If you've SEEN my car you understand this sentence completely but to sum it up, let's just say I haven't been the best mum to little red car... i'm like one of those wacked out pagent mom's that bandaids up their kid every so often with redbull and hopes for the best. I throw oil in her. I gas her up. But other then that, i'm pretty clueless. So I asked how much air should be put in the tires. The gentleman behind the counter launched into an incredibly informative but completely over my head explanation about how I should not fill the tires to the max listed due to air pressure, or air heating... something to that effect. He was so pleasant in telling me the air of air pressure that I didn't want to interupt him with my normal, sarcastic "translation please" speech. When the super perky woman beside him chirped "fill them until the gauge hits 32. Period." We all laughed and I made my way outside. Totally upbeat from such a positive and comical interaction, I began filling my tires and low and behold, the gent came trotting across the tarmac to see if I had figured everything out! Friendly AND follow up? Well done Shell crew! We chatted for a few more minutes, I went in to wash my hands, tires successfully full (and double checked) and as I left, both employees stopped what they were doing/who they were serving momentarily to exuberantly wave and wish me well. I have not had such a positive interaction at a gas station.... EVER! Super friendly. Super helpful. Super genuine. Dear employees - I wish I had gotten your names but if you ever happen upon this, THANK YOU for truly giving a damn! You absolutely made my afternoon. She could not explain the $160.91 error and seemed to have no suggestion to correct it. i left my documents along with my phone number and was told I would receive a call from the manager. 2 1/2 months later and not a word. No need to shop around. Can-Am and USA are the cheapest. I have no idea why that Texaco outlet hasn't gone bankrupt yet. They have NEVER been cheaper the last 5 times I looked. There can be a bit of a lineup here, but nothing too crazy. Get your gas, go back to Canada, and buy yourself something nice with the money you saved.

It is a good place to get a coffee and a snack, as contractors do not have access to the Tsawwassen Quay Market which is inside the secure area of the terminal reserved for paying travellers. The gentleman who works in the store is very friendly and always greets me politely.

It's way cheaper than buying a bottle of Techron additive, which is $14 to treat 80L (ie 18c/L). With that said, they actually sell bottles of Techron here. Why you can't buy Techron bottles in Canada is beyond me. The station itself is older, but the pumps have been renovated. Most importantly, the pumps are on 24h! American-priced gas is a truly beautiful thing.

It's a two sided gas station, with pumps on both sides and a small store in the middle of this thing, you have two ways of entry. Not always are all the pumps working, and as Edward has noted, the gas is more costly here than the Can-Am up the block, but if you believe in brand name gas, and your car demands the Chevron... here's your town pump. Just like most, if not all gas stations in Point Roberts.. it's 24 hours, don't think I have ever seen it full service here. Also, just like all the stations down here.. the price is in litres. Just another business supporting the local economy of Pt. Roberts, besides the mail box locations.

It's a bit farther down the road from the border, but while you're here, hit up International Marketplace for some cheap groceries and booze. Did I say that out loud? 2 things that I'm not a fan of though. 1) The nozzles here are of that weird puffy "fume retention" type. Not sure who designed this thing (and they're common throughout the States for sure) but the ones here are extra springy. The nozzle actually shot out of my car after I walked away, spilling a ton of gas everywhere. 2) The washroom is gross. I've seen dirtier for sure, but this one had FLIES on the toilet seat! Thank goodness I was only there to wash my hands. Ewwww.

Their prices…read moreare the lowest on the Point, usually tied with Can-Am down the street, but since I shop at Marketplace for groceries, I am already in the parking lot for this station - plus there is a decently-stocked convenience store at the gas station for quick milk or junk-food pickups, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. Their prices are usually 20 cents a litre less than in Canada, and this location is the only place in the US where I have seen pumps actually calibrated for litres. They accept both US and Canadian cash, credit cards, and any debit cards that are generally accepted in the US (i.e. yes BMO, no CIBC).
