They literally told me to go spend my money somewhere else, so I can't imagine this place will remain in business much longer. I had paid $11.99 for the "best" carwash. It came with a laundry list of add-ons, various soaps & sealants, etc. when I pulled in, the water started up, the brushes did one pass across my car and then the water shut off, dryers came on and I was told to pull out of the wash. No bubbles, no soap, no sealant, bugs still squished on my windshield & hood. It was a 30 second wash that did nothing. I parked my car and went inside to tell the cashier expecting her to give me the price of the $7.99 wash but she argued & called her manager insisting the carwash worked fine. Eventually, another patron came in and asked for a new car wash code because the dryer never came on and she needed her car dried. The "manager" is an awful woman! It's as if she's being paid to pick fights with customers and drive the business into the ground. She told me that she had checked the cameras, there was soap and I was lying, I said, I need to see the cameras then so I can show you. She said, "only police" can see the cameras. (Lie) She asked which car was mine and when I pointed to the car, she said, your car looks clean to me. I told her that it wasn't and I had paid for soaps and sealants that I didn't get. She told me, there is a hand wash across the street, if you want your car done better, go over there. She literally told me, "you don't have to spend your money here."And I told her I would never be spending another dime there. As I pulled away, the manager was arguing with the lady who didn't get her car dried because the dryer didn't turn on. "Awful manager" told the lady that she had watched the cameras and the lady lied. The lady said, look at my car, "it's soaking wet." "Awful manager" told her it was because she drove too fast through the dryer. But that lady was much smarter than I... she had pulled her car around and was blocking the entrance to the carwash so other customers could not get in. I left before I saw the end of the battle but I'm sure the "awful manager" ended up giving the "smart lady" a new carwash code to get her to move her car. Having a Ralphs Rewards card, I tend to frequent Shell stations for gas. That may come to an end, given recent developments in Burbank. I've been getting my car washed after a fillup for years at the Shell at the corner of Magnolia and Victory. Then ownership changed and the station has gotten progressively weird. Last week I got a fillup and drove into the car wash with my Chevy Equinox and the wash was fine, but then the air dry didn't work. NOTHING. I drove over, parked the car, and went into to report it and the woman behind the counter who barely spoke English pointed to a piece of tape that read No Truck or SUV in car wash. Was there anything on the pump where I filled up saying that? No. Didn't see anything at the entrance to the car wash either. She didn't care. No apologies, just kind of get lost, don't bother me. I fill up gas in here only when tank is almost empty due to unpleasant experiences. First incident: I went to this station to use a $100 gift card. Unfortunately, the card won't work so I called customer service. The rep told me that she can give the attendant a special code to make the card go through. The attendant refused do so The rep decided to just mail a replacement card. Second incident: I filled up gas and when tank was full, the trigger from the nozzle was stuck so gas started overflowing my tank. I pulled nozzle out and gas splashed all over my clothes and shoes. I tried harder to release the trigger and finally succeeded. Reeking of gas and feeling bummed over wasted gas, I went inside to report the matter. Guess what the attendant told me? That there's nothing wrong and I should know how to properly release the trigger. Really? Instead of thanking me and without checking if I'm right, you even accused me of being stupid? Holy crap! That's a lot of 1 STAR reviews. Hmmm.... I stop off here from time to time when in Burbank because they seem to have the most affordable prices. I have yet to experience any real "issue" here (knocking on wood now!). I'd recommend them based on my experiences here, which go: 1. Pull in 2. Park at Pump 3. Pay for Gas at Pump 4. Pump Gas 5. Throw any garbage inside my car into the waste basket 6. Leave Works for me! There are self serve vacuums for $1 (quarters) that will almost suck the carpet off the floor of your car. The dryer did a horrible job of drying so I was stuck with water marks all over the sides and back of my car. Avoid this Shell. I've been going here 8 years. In 8 years there have been two problems, both handled badly. Today automatic car wash malfunctioned, car ahead of me gets my wash. I go inside and explain, they tell me go catch the car ahead of me. Your machine is faulty, i'm supposed to run a car down as it pulls onto the street and get them to pay for my wash? 8 years of being a customer not worth acknowledging your equipment doesn't work? Worth permanently losing a customer? A couple of years ago, confusion with a pump not working so I go inside. I will never return. I purchased the most expensive car wash. I do not believe that was the service rendered because I did not see the tricolor soap treatment I typically see. To add insult to injury, the dryer did not turn on at all, while I exited the wash. I approached the female attendant inside the cashier/store and she did not believe me. I asked her to look through the window to see my car was completely wet and clearly not dried. She declined and insisted the dryer was working. Paid $9.99 for a car wash. The machine took my car wash code. The car inside the wash reversed and apparently took my turn without me knowing. When I went in the car wash wouldn't work. The manager Ana came out screaming at me that I lost my car wash and had to pull through. She refused to give me a refund. She said the instructions said not to put money in until after the person left the wash -- but the sign is below eye level on the machine. Plus as you drive up to the machine it says put in money or your code! At any rate I had to email Shell to complain. This station gave me the run around. First they said they couldn't refund my credit card. Then I had to come back the next day to talk to the manager. Then I had to be refunded in cash. ZERO STARS. I've been going to this car wash on a weekly basis for the past 5 years. It was quick, convenient, and on my way to work. And I've been using their car wash for years without any trouble. Today, however, the car wash stopped working halfway through the wash. My soap studded car, all wet, ended up in a worse condition than before I got there. I went to the manager and she was extremely rude to me and offensive. Told me she has the right to refuse me service. What service? I already paid you! I'm asking for a refund. I asked for her name, she wouldn't give it to me. Wait!.. aren't they all supposed to have name tags? I asked to speak to her supervisor, or the franchise owner, and she refused to provide me any numbers or any avenues for addressing my grievances. She told me that the car wash doesn't take any large trucks. I don't drive a large truck,.. I drive a very small SUV. Plus I've used it for 5 years without any fail. But here's the worst part: THERE WERE THREE SUVS WAITING IN LINE FOR A CAR WASH WHILE I WAS ARGUING WITH HER. I asked her, Why don't you be kind enough and tell THEM also that the car wash doesn't work for their cars. She didn't do anything about it. At the end of the car wash when the dryer portion was to begin, the blowers sounded like they started and the larger dryer in the front that says "drive thru slowly" lowered but then immediately lifted up. The timer showed 1:11 then displayed 'FL2' error code and then to 0:00 on the timer. Our car was left completely wet. (We have this entire car wash on video and offered to share it with the corporate shell office) We then parked next to the attendant window to speak with the attendant on site. She was middle aged, middle eastern/ Indian, and was wearing glasses and a head scarf/turban/hijab. We explained the entire car wash experience to her and the issue that occurred. We asked her if it were possible to obtain a code for the cheapest car wash just to dry our car but She proceeded to point at her video system monitor saying that the dryer was working for the customer after us. She also shrugged her shoulders and said it was not her problem. She told us we can pay for another car wash if we wanted to go back in again. We then asked her again if we could get a coupon or a refund and at this point she turned her back to use and "pretended" to have work to do like mop the floor with a dry mop and move her coffee supplies around but not make coffee. We stood there for a couple more minutes but it was evident that she was refusing to assist us. All of this can be further investigated and witnessed through the security camera footage as well as the full video we have of the car wash experience. I used to be a big fan. Driving for ride share I would use the car wash weekly. It did take awhile because each wash was approx 5 mins and the dry was about 1 minute. Now the cheapest $6.99 AND $7.99 washes are down to 2 minutes. And my car was still soaking wet when the timer finished for drying. I was given a refund when I complained to the clerk. Only came here for the drive-through car wash. Wasn't too impressed. It's not like other Shell station washes which just use a high pressure spray wash and dry. This one is old school with the big spinning mops, so you will need to put your aerial down (or remove it) etc. I chose the $9 "better" wash and while it did the job, the drying was totally lousy. I parked my car immediately afterwards (to put my aerial back on) and the car was still covered in water droplets (mainly in the back). There was also afew suds spots. All the windows needed to be wiped down. And I ended up wiping the whole car dry. If I can give zero stars, I'd give it. This is my local gas station and drive thru car wash I've been going for the past 5 years. I had no MAJOR complaints until now. I've gone thru the car wash NUMEROUS times and know the drill. But this last time it didn't work out for me. I waited for the previous car to drive away and I entered into the wash zone. The red light turned on to tell me I'm in the right position. Then I saw the green light turn on and waited for the car washing to initiate. He informed me to call this number to complain. But that the car wash is under new management and they don't do refunds. Of course the phone number goes straight to voice mail. JUST beware of using the car wash. He insulted me by saying I didn't know how to use the car wash and that's my fault that it didn't work. I used to be a frequent customer of this gas station until today. As I'm filling up my tank, I use the squeegee to clean my windows. I then use the sponge on the back of the squeegee to wet a bird poo stain just above the passenger door, and the female manager walks by and says, "Sir, don't do that. That is for windows only!" I needed gas and a car wash so I stopped by after the gym. The line was long and I was in a hurry to get my son to work but I waited anyway. It took about 20 minutes before my turn. I pulled in as I had done many times before but this time the machine buzzed and the yellow "Back Up" light came on. I backed up. Nothing happened. Backed up some more. Nothing happened. I sent my son in ask the attendant what to do. He told him to just pull forward. I tried that. Again, nothing. UPDATE: I called this morning to speak with the supervisor, Anna. She repeatedly cut me off and told me that she gave me an opportunity to speak (she didn't allow me to finish) and she was going to speak now. I said, "I think that you have had a conversation with Jose and been given one perspective of the situation but you are not allowing me to share mine." She started raising her voice saying "Jose tried to help you! He did the right thing!" I asked if she had a supervisor or if I could get the contact information of the owner and she said that she would take my number and call me back. I've given this location an opportunity to make this situation right and they have failed miserably. I see that I am not the only one to experience terrible customer service here based on other reviews. I'd advise that you take your business to Chevron and Alameda on Main. Have been using this gas station for four years and the car wash. Today, I went in and tried to get a car wash. I put my code it, it told me to enter and then the lights and buzzer didn't indicate when to stop. So, I stopped in the groove where I usually stop and nothing happened. I called the guy in the store from the car wash and he had a huge attitude. I went in he said he'd give me a refund. I said I didn't want a refund, I wanted a car wash. He said once he refunds me if I'd like to buy a car wash again I could. I run to my car to get my card and he calls his supervisor. SHE ASKS ME IF I'VE EVER USED A CAR WASH BEFORE! One star for stupidity! I just can't tolerate incompetence. I came here to fill up my tank and get a quick car wash. When I finished filling up I went to the car wash and I entered my code on the brand new touchscreen monitor they have. It's a nice touch compared to other stations but it's lacking. The wash didn't work so I went to see the cashier to find out what went wrong. He said that I should have waited until the current wash ended before I entered my code. I told him that there were no signs indicating that or at least with a new touch screen, it should be clever enough to overcome such a huge glitch in the system. I wasn't really upset about all of this nonsense as I still needed the car wash. I asked for another code and the idiot told me that the car wash was out of order. Excellent station and well maintained and managed. Everyone complaining about the carwash, It is very easy to use if you are smarter than the machine. Simply stop in the groove when you hear the buzzer and see the red light. The result is a good and efficient carwash. Those whom do not pay attention to all the indicators have a bad experience. The station manager Ana is delightful and is someone you might see on undercover boss. The delightful person everyone stops to say good morning to and one whom brings repeat customers to the station.
