Public Post About Authentic Cheesesteaks As someone originally from South Philadelphia, I just wanted to respectfully share something about cheesesteaks. A traditional Philly cheesesteak is not made with roast beef. Roast beef has a completely different texture, seasoning, and flavor profile. While it may seem similar, it's not the same thing. An authentic cheesesteak is made with: * Thinly sliced ribeye steak (or shaved steak / minute steak as an acceptable substitute) * Cooked on a flat-top grill * Lightly seasoned (usually just salt and pepper) * Chopped and folded together while cooking * Served on a fresh hoagie roll (Amoroso-style if you want to be authentic) * Topped with either Cheez Whiz, American cheese, or Provolone * Optional additions: sautéed onions (this is traditional), sometimes mushrooms or peppers depending on preference The key element is fresh shaved steak cooked to order, not deli-style roast beef placed on bread. There's nothing wrong with roast beef sandwiches -- they're great in their own right -- but calling it a cheesesteak changes the standard of what people expect, especially for those of us from Philadelphia where this sandwich originated. I'm sharing this respectfully in hopes that local spots consider offering a true steak version. The employees at the 7th street sheetz are the friendliest caring people. They treat everyone with respect and are very prompt in assisting customers. They get to know their regular customers and go out of their way to help when needed. Liz, Lacey, Lonnie & Melissa are the best. read more

I can't speak for all sheetzes but this one is amazing the food is phenomenal and the service is almost just as good, i often find myself treating it as a restaurant which is kind of weird but eat here and you'll understand. For looks it's nothing special the outside is nice looking and certainly grabs your eye there's nothing to special about the interior but it does have a really nice mural on the wall that I find myself looking at every time I come here even though I've memorized every inch of it. read more

Sheetz is a one of a kind place, there aren't a lot of places you can show up at midnight to 3am, and get made to go food, gas, friendly staff, and drinks from banana milkshakes, fountain drinks, to coffees and bottled soda/waters. There are tables outside to sit at, trash cans on nearly every side of the building. I don't have anything negative to say about it. I've been here a few dozen times now and I choose it over BP, Go Mart, and 7/11 every chance I get. read more

Sheets on 7th street isnt telling everyone that the 3.99 fuel is only for flex fuel vehicles and if you use that fuel in your normal vehicle it can definitely do alot of damage so who is gonna be liable for the repairs to your gas o ly vehicles not them ill promise so beware and be careful read more

We stopped to grab some drinks and gas on our way to pick up a friend out of town. It was about 230 to 3 in the morning. The parking lot had trash laying everywhere and there were what appear to be crack/meth addicts hanging outside the store at the table...literally every customer we saw acted tweaked out with visible scabs all over their faces, arms and legs. The bathrooms were filthy..there was literally shit all over the place. The employees were nice , polite and quick with the food we ordered though. The store looked clean (aside from the parking lot and shitty bathroom) but the whole place smelled of meth, body odor and broken dreams. read more

to anyone that has never been to a sheetz before you are missing out. this gas station has everything you need from customized food selection to beer to a huge selection of candy and drinks. you can make your own slushees and milkshakes this place is amazing. never would i have thought i would ever say i got good food at a gas station but this place has great made to order food. employees are soooo nice and friendly. love going in this location. read more
