Public Post About Authentic Cheesesteaks As someone originally from South Philadelphia, I just wanted to respectfully share something about cheesesteaks. A traditional Philly cheesesteak is not made with roast beef. Roast beef has a completely different texture, seasoning, and flavor profile. While it may seem similar, it's not the same thing. An authentic cheesesteak is made with: * Thinly sliced ribeye steak (or shaved steak / minute steak as an acceptable substitute) * Cooked on a flat-top grill * Lightly seasoned (usually just salt and pepper) * Chopped and folded together while cooking * Served on a fresh hoagie roll (Amoroso-style if you want to be authentic) * Topped with either Cheez Whiz, American cheese, or Provolone * Optional additions: sautéed onions (this is traditional), sometimes mushrooms or peppers depending on preference The key element is fresh shaved steak cooked to order, not deli-style roast beef placed on bread. There's nothing wrong with roast beef sandwiches -- they're great in their own right -- but calling it a cheesesteak changes the standard of what people expect, especially for those of us from Philadelphia where this sandwich originated. I'm sharing this respectfully in hopes that local spots consider offering a true steak version. We hadn't been to P-burg for a few years. We were happy to see this large newer store in the downtown area. We walked here twice from our hotel, one time on the way to the riverfront park. The last evening we purchased pepperoni rolls. They are the best snack sandwich. Put them in the freezer and pull one out when needed. This store has the touch screen food order system. My husband loves their Coffee Mochas, he has a few favorite snacks that he feels Sheetz can only provide. Sheetz is great if your in a hurry and you want to stop for quick foods, coffees, etc. staff is polite, the place is always very clean including the restrooms. I am very picky . read more

Stopped here twice to use the Tesla Supercharger at this location. Great amenities compared to many other Tesla charging stations I've stopped at in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Will stop again next time I travel down I-77. read more

Well lit gas station with amazing food. I got my food within 5 mins of ordering, keep in mind it was 10:30pm. Fries were hot and fresh, wings the same. So yummy! Love Sheetz! So happy we finally have one close by. read more
