Don't come here, this place gives unions a bad name. The apprenticeship program is very unorganized and will often make up rules to suite them. My husband went through their apprenticeship and it was a terrible experience all the way through. School told him he couldn't return during Covid as long as he was positive then tried to kick him out for missing too many days. His on the job reviews were good but they still withheld his raise for a year because the only other classmate not getting a raise was black and they feared retaliation.
Theft is rampant, working environment is toxic, corruption is abundant, bargaining rights are a joke, votes are swayed by old friends that have long been retired, most long termers and higher ups are only around because of nepotism.
My husband was made to leave the jobsite due to health issues from extreme working conditions. He was forced to see a doctor through workers comp and then immediately fired for doing so. Their doctor treated him for weeks and said he didn't see any reason for his symptoms other than the work environment. Despite this he refused to officially acknowledge that the company was at fault and instead said it was undetermined and would not clear him to return to work.
He never received a dime of compensation for them forcing him to go on medical leave and then they ended his career against his will. Five years he worked and paid dues here and the union did absolutely nothing to protect him. read more
