They installed a security system for me and one of the cameras failed sooner rather than later. They set up service calls to assess the problem. The technician was diligent in finding the problem and fixing it. You could tell the tech enjoyed the challenge. He was respectful, neat and really took care in his communication with me to make certain I was satisfied. Devin did an excellent job of replacing over 50 batteries and 3 expired smoke alarms. He informed us what he was doing throughout the process. He was very through and knowledgeable, he was skilled, plesant and hard working. He test the system to make sure are the equipment was up and running. Alas, I had to call Shearer after breaking off a key in the lock. I explained my situation over the phone and got an estimate. I was prepared to pay a bit more (overtime rates) since the tech was able to meet me at the house after work. After completing the job in maddeningly little time, he gave me a break on the quoted price since the work was a simple key extraction and not a full lock-out. While the call was still not cheap I appreciated the tech's friendliness and honesty. I will definitely be calling them for some future re-keying work. read more

I have used Shearer more than once and been quite happy, and this morning they really saved my bacon. I was home alone with my two small kids (ages 3 and 5) and walked outside in my bathrobe to take out the trash. To my very great surprise, the door was locked from the inside when I came back, and my kids were inside by themselves!! I left a message with Shearer and got a text back from Travis K asking for my address. he gave me an ETA and showed up 15 minutes later. He had the door open in about 15 seconds. I was just referred by an employee of a home goods store because they didn't have the key I needed. I went because this employee had the most exemplary customer service skills and I figured he would only send me if they met his same standards. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN. Grant it it was close or past the closing time but I wouldn't have been aware of that fact. There were two customers in the store when I drove up . The clerk made eye contact with me rushed the two customers out and stared at me as he locked the door and said nothing. I was as close to him if not closer than the other customers whom he continued to say last goodbyes. Customer service skills would have had him at least tell me what the hours are so that I could return. However, since he has no skills he doesn't have to worry about it. There are plenty of locksmiths out there who actually have customer service skills even if I have to go back to Lancaster County or to Philly to have my keys made. I had a lock I purchased installed, and 5 other locks rekeyed to match it in December 2018. The key to the main door never worked correctly, and it was my error not to complain initially, concluding 4 out of 5 was tolerable. Six months later, the installed lock stopped working, so I called to have it repaired. I explained how the keys never fit the main door, so please repair it, also. It turns out the main door had to be rekeyed again, and new keys had to be made. I assumed partial fault for allowing the 90 days warranty to pass, and having copies made independently. However, 1 of the 5 locks still didn't work with the new keys, and I was told I would be charged again to have that lock rekeyed...again! I refused, and was charged as much as I was the first time around. Since the old keys still work on some doors, it is obvious something was not done correctly the first time Shearer Security Locksmiths came. Shame on them for not standing by their work, and making me pay full price for what was not done correctly in the first place. read more

I don't normally need a locksmith but this place has been mentioned to me by a friend and I need a locksmith. It took a little but they were finally able to get my door open. I would recommend this place for people who get locked out of there house and need to get back in easy and cheap. read more

I went into the store and stood at the counter for 10 minutes listened to an employee talking to their boyfriend in their office for 10 minutes and then we left because no one came out to help us or even acknowledge that we were there. I probably would've yelled and asked for help, but they have 25 security cameras so I'm pretty sure they saw us. We even called to tell them what we needed, so they knew we were coming. But they do not care about customers do not shop there won't do you any good to go anyway. read more

They tried to make us a new key for our 2002 4runner and after the new key was cut it was discovered that the problem was our ignition and given our current situation because of COVID19 and us not working they worked with us and didnt charge for the key. Never call this place if you are locked out. They are supposedly 24hr service and we called around 10pm 2 nights ago. My husband and I, along with our 2 very young children, got locked out of our house. When we called the voicemail we got stated he was either on the phone or with another customer and to just leave a message and he would call you back. We waited, and waited, and waited! Luckily we have awesome neighbors and they took us in until we could find a way in. After about an hour of waiting...we finally got into our home. It wasn't because of this place though. If we would have waited to hear back...we'd still be waiting today. (2 days later) I never even received a call back! I would NEVER recommend this place! read more

Highly, highly RECOMMEND! We bought a used car and the key would not unlock the door. They fixed it quickly and didn't charge us because they said the lock only needed to be cleaned out. They could've charged us even for their time but they were so kind and didn't charge at all. We also brought our old box safe here because we couldn't unlock it after it had been sitting around a couple of years untouched. They were able to unlock it and the fee was nominal! Caught in a bind this morning with my keys locked in my car. I tried a bunch of different places but all were either closed or busy, Shearer Locksmith was the first to answer and even though they weren't technically open yet they came out in no time to assist me.
