DePalma Roofing & Construction

DePalma Roofing & Construction

I couldn't have asked for a better experience with a roofing company. Steve was quick to come out…read moreand do an inspection of our existing roof and tell us exactly what needed done. They weren't pushy with trying to get you to purchase the most expensive shingle and had the quote broke down to see what each level cost. By far was the cheapest of the 8 quotes we received. Also liked that they have financing available with very reasonable rates. I would definitely recommend DePalma for your roofing needs.

Nothing was done correctly. The installation team had trash blowing everywhere including my neighbors' yards. Moreover, there were numerous shingles that were damaged when they were installed and later replaced during follow-up visits. There were so many issues, I questioned going ahead with the gutters and downspouts but was assured the metal team was great. I decided to give DePalma the benefit of the doubt but was let down again because the gutters leaked from day one and the downspouts were installed with the outlets inches from the foundation. I lost track of how many visits DePalma made to "look at" and fix things but I have at least 14 emails back and forth to Amber along with pictures of problems I encountered. Each time someone came to the house, there were nails or screws left in the driveway or on the street. I will say that DePalma was extremely responsive to my emails and requests for follow-up but I don't think the issues I had would have occurred if the teams were professional and conscientious in the work they did. I grimace every time I see one of DePalma's signs saying they're the most trusted roofing company in central PA because I would never recommend them. At the conclusion of this escapade - which lasted from 2023 into 2024 - I received a $500 discount from the total project estimate. I appreciated that but money wasn't the issue. I wanted peace of mind by purchasing a new roof and gutters and got aggravation and uncertainty instead.

Sam at Maven Construction who installed the roof as DS siding, required $250 to come out to look at the leak for a service call and stated it wouldn't be covered regardless of what he saw. The 2 separate and independent roofers provided me with repair estimates and both found the leak to be from installation error, poor workmanship, a lack of properly installed flashing, exposed nail heads, damaged shingles from walking during a hot installation, and a negated manufacture warranty from Owens Corning due to incorrect installation. Shoddy workmanship as the leak origin was confirmed by the insurance adjuster. Sam has not rectified the situation, the damages incurred, nor the improperly installed new roof. I do not recommend Maven Construction as they provided inferior and subpar work and do not stand behind their installation with a sufficient roof warranty. 0 stars. Do not use.

Kayla came out as scheduled and did the measurement in a professional manner. We agreed and made payment as per the company's stipulation in the beginning of December 2023. We also scheduled the installation for January 8th. Well; the installation was pushed back twice because we were told the installer was backed up on another job. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but we have everything packed up for our two largest rooms except the largest furniture. The installer was supposed to contact us to look at the project prior to the job. That never happened so I called him the day before to make sure he planned on starting before moving the large furniture. They did show up on Monday as scheduled but that's were it got worse. They apparently couldn't scribe around the fireplace stone and became frustrated. They then both hop in the truck and run to Harbor Freight to get blades for the tool they needed to use. When they returned they said that didn't work. They then decided that they recommend undercutting the stone with a masonry saw. Well cutting masonry is extremely dirty so I said if that's the plan, I want it tented to keep the dust to that area. That was it for the first day....about three rows were installed. Laughable but I wanted to cry. The next morning he called about 10 am and said he is at Home Depot and the cost of materials was going to be around $500 plus about $300 additional for labor. I told him I would pay for some but not all of this because he never showed up to look at the project as stated on our contract and he showed up totally unprepared to get this job done correctly. He then told me he is an independent contractor and isn't in any contract with me so he isn't coming back! I immediately called Amber, the manager who within minutes had another installer that she could reassign to the project. She assured me that they will be able to get things corrected. She sent out Remi and Carlos. Well they stayed late that day and finished the living room before leaving for the day. They obviously knew how to scribe around the fireplace and didn't need to undercut the masonry as stated by the previous installer. By the end of the second day the entire project was complete and done in a very professional manner. The first picture is the flooring attempt by the first contractor after the first day. The second is the completed flooring at that location after Remi and Carlos took over. Thank you Amber for getting involved and sending these guys out to save the day. They will do all my flooring going forward!
