It's a shady business asking you to sign paperwork before they will do your hair. While Peter was coloring my hair he said it's good to put acupuncture needles on my head. I'm blind without my glasses and I didn't want it, but he insisted and he put them in. Is he even a licensed acupuncturist? Plus they use a coarse bristle brush to apply hair color to my scalp. It hurts. So expensive yet they can't buy better tools. They don't listen to their customers and force their own ways onto you. read more

Juliet has colored my hair several times now and I have loved each one! Even when my hair is a bit darker, she's been able to add lowlights to my hair to create dimension and depth. I'm always impressed by how natural she's able to dye my hair and blend out the balayage perfectly. She is super patient and it's clear that she cares a lot about how each person's hair turns out. Even though the appointments can often be hours long, Juliet is super bubbly and helps the time pass by quickly. She is also super detailed in her haircuts as well and takes her time to be precise. For one of my recent visits, near the end, my hair was turning out a bit lighter than I wanted. She offered to remix the color and tone my hair again to make sure that I left with the exact color I wanted! Definitely will be coming back and recommend Juliet if you're looking for a new stylist! Honestly, I've been to a few different hair salon in the area through out the years and although they're nice cuts, I'm never 100% happy with my haircuts. Either they don't sit right the days after I leave the salon or I'll find some minor mistakes after. Cut to meeting KC here and he's been my go-to hair stylist since! When I bring reference photos, I get honest opinions on what hair style fits me most and he really does work with you to get a haircut that you're genuinely happy about. Could not be happier with the service I've received whether its for a hair coloring or just a cut. Not sure why it's an appointment only base, when they don't even show up for their own appointment. Made appointment on Tuesday at 11, show up 15 mins early and waited till 10:59. Lights were off no one show up,So I left. Called to see said he was there exactly 11 and I wasn't there. ( okay, fine I was too impatient to wait) said I can come after 2 and he be available. I said I be there after 2:30 after picking up my kid. Arrive at 2:35, their busy working on client. Waited 15-20 mins, said I can't wait any longer I have appointment at 3:30 for dentist appointment. Reschedule for the next day at 11:30, show up at 11:25. Waited til 11:45 and the shop Was lock, lights were off, no show. Okay, I get it, probably not worth the lousy $40 haircut. This was just a sign for me to not get my hair cut here. If they don't honor their own appointment, how would they treat your hair. Sorry, but I work on the customer service industry too. Not all customers are right but please put in effort to show your customer you care. If you can't make it to an appointment, let them know. So you can save them time and effort. read more

Let me start by saying I'm maybe one of the most fickle people you will meet. I rescheduled my appointment three...yes, THREE times. And Richard (the owner). treated me with such patience and understanding. Before I even set foot in the salon, I felt very welcomed and taken care of. Getting a balayage has been something I've been waiting years to do (partially out of fear haha, partially because...yes, I'm fickle), but Mo spelled everything out for me and made sure I was fully aware of all the possibilities and options. She worked with me based on my hair color and how it naturally fades to show me what color would be best for my highlights. Mo was super fun and friendly. I could write a novel on the great advice she gave me (nothing to do with hair, everything to do with my personal life haha), but she made my experience so wonderful and worth while. Beyond disappointed in the results I received after spending $250+tip. I had come in for a root touch up and wanted to add pink to my ends. Peter had boasted that the bleach they use is very gentle. After my first wash with purple shampoo( 2 days after salon visit) the area that had been bleached was extremely gummy/sticky coming out of the shower and that area turned bright silver while the rest of my hair is still brassy. It takes about 2-3 hours for the bleached areas to completely dry. Once it dries, it is so damaged and crispy. The color was so uneven and the pink had already started to fade... After letting Peter know I'm very dissatisfied with the results he told me he can't offer a refund nor partial refund, but he can give me Olaplex to take home. Instead of acknowledging he destroyed my hair, he blamed me for having Asian hair?? And that I don't know how to use purple shampoo?? Never in my life had I experienced so much damage from bleach. And I've never had a problem with my purple shampoo that I have been using for over a year. I really hesitated to post a review. But I went to see 2 different hair specialists who both told me he over processed the bleach. This was my initial suspicion yet Peter tried to convince me it was my hair and not his fault. The other 2 specialists also told me, "no matter how many treatments you use, the area he bleached will never recover." read more

This review is for itzel! I had an appointment with her for a lob hair cut and she is amazing! I love how she uses nice tools like the t3 curling iron and the dyson hair dryer. She is also very easy to talk to and attentive to how you want your hair to look. I thought paying $45 + tip for a haircut was quite pricey, but it was worth it for the experience I had. It took a little over an hour to get my hair washed, cut, and curled. read more

They're very talented and honest about their work. The mother and daughter duo runs the whole salon here in Avery busy plaza. I came in with my daughter for a well deserved haircut and of course we had to come see Mo. We asked to have my daughter's hair chopped to donate. Mo gave her a really cute texture bop. She combed through the layers of hair and textured it carefully. Then it was my turn. I requested to have my hair texturally trimmed with medium length. She did exactly as I had requested. I love how both of our cuts turned out. Mo's daughter, Lisa, is excellent with dyed hair styles, I mean, just look at her work! I've referred a few friends/family here to get their hair colored and no one had anything negative to say! If you're looking for someone talented with fair pricing, they place is always a win! I would give it a 0.5 if I could. My hair which was healthy prior to my session here was damaged. I have had my hair done before so I understand bleach damages the hair but this time my hair went much lighter and was so damaged. It was to the point whenever it touched water it would turn gummy and break off and tangle. I was told I just needed to brush out my hair before showering and then just keep the conditioner in longer. But none of these worked because my hair was so damaged. My hair was not this fragile from my last balayage session in a previous salon so I knew something was wrong. My hair was left in bleach way to long in the foils since they were working on other clients, they should know better then to kept bleach in long. I also had very streaky colors with a bunch of different colors going on, some very blonde some much darker. I also found out (4 months after) I had permanent dye on my roots which left a slight orange band the top of my hair, if I had known while getting my hair done I wouldn't have agreed. Another salon I usually go to do not put permanent dye because these create a band and do not come off, the only way to remove is to let it grow out. If you do not want your hair to be damaged do not come. Would not recommend! I spent 8 hours to get damaged hair! The only reason why I gave it a 0.5 is because they were nice. read more

They had good reviews and I liked the work that I saw on their photos so I decided to try them out. From other reviews, people seemed to really like Peter so I decided to book my appt online with him. I definitely recommend Shear Steele Salon as well as Peter. The salon itself is nice, modern, and was very clean. Peter was fantastic! Very professional and definitely knows what he's doing. He was helpful in picking colors, was very attentive, and made sure to explain each step of the process to me. He even asked if I wanted to order food since the process would take several hours - overall excellent customer service. I asked for an ash brown balayage and absolutely loved the outcome! Peter also was great in giving advice to add to the longevity of my hair color once the process was done. I've been dying my hair for a little over 5 years now, which means I've been to A LOT of different salons. This was BY FAR the best experience I've had at a salon. The owner and Peter, the person who worked on my hair, was so friendly. I was booked at 5:00pm and my appointment lasted until 10:00pm, so the owner went over to buy sushi to-go for me (using my card). Peter gave me recommendations and explained to me what each step of the process as he was working on my hair. I went from a yellow like blonde to ash brown/blonde. The process took about 5 hours and it costed around $270 without tip. I also bought purple shampoo from the store for only $15 which was nice because other salons typically over charge. The only thing that took me by surprise was that I had an appointment with Peter, but Hailey was also working on my hair on some parts and Hailey was the one who cut my hair. Typically, at other salons, only one person works on my hair, so that was a bit odd for me, but other than that, everything was great! For those who are not regulars here, just know that parking in this plaza is a little difficult sometimes. Plan accordingly! read more

Peter was amazing i showed him a few pictures the day prior to my appointment and when i came in he helped me choose the color that would look best with my skin tone and we started from there.. My first time coming here was a year ago, where I did my first balayage; and Lisa was able to nail the ashy look I was going for.
