Shear Artistry Salon is located inside Mary Savio medical building on the 3rd floor. After reading good reviews about hair stylist, Pearl, I wanted to try this place. Their unit isn't too spacious but rather cozy. There are other hair stylists and I believe they're all independent. Pearl is such a sweet, friendly, and professional lady. I needed a touch up and she was able to match my hair color close to the previous one. I also liked her style of cutting and she was thorough to make sure it was cut perfectly. I called their main number and she return my call through text. She was able to schedule me within few days later which I was grateful. She also validated my parking ticket so I only had to pay a couple of dollars on the way out. She also does weddings if you're shopping around for that. read more

The best part about my experience with Pearl is that she actually listened to what I wanted. I don't know how many salons I've been to with stylists who end up doing something totally off from what I originally asked for. Even though I wasn't completely sure about what I wanted, Pearl listened to my vision and need for a change (I CHOPPED off my long hair...I was ready for a major change). Even if you make an appointment A DAY AHEAD, make sure to call THE DAY OF. I called Saturday morning to make an appointment with Angela for Sunday. I called twice Saturday. On both occasions, I talked to Irene. She said I was good to go for Sunday at 10am. She even got my full name and number. Cool. I got there 15 minutes prior to my appointment only to find out that Angela had called in sick. In a perfect world, someone would've called to reschedule me. But nope, Irene said she didnt even have my name down for any appointment. Just, wow. What's even weird is that Irene said she tried to call Angela. Really, Irene? Angela called in sick, why are you asking if she can come in?!? Seriously? Because of Irene's mistake, I am not going back. The least she couldve done was woman up and say she messed up. I haven't cut my hair in 2 years and finally got it done here. Pros: -I called for reservations and luckily they had one on Veterans Day (Friday) the next day. -I didn't have to wait long after my appointment time to get started. -Ashley was my stylist and she is amazing -I didn't know how I wanted to cut it so she helped me decide. Employee Rudeness...cannot walk around one person in the hallway and instead bumps into the person, no can say excuse me before approaching so person can move MORE out of your way (hallway get room for 4 people to walk comfortably side by side by the way) and no can say sorry even after bumping into person. I was looking for a stylist to touch up my highlights on the spur of the moment and my regular stylist somewhere else wasn't available. I wanted somewhere close to home and that open later so I could go after work. After checking out several reviews on yelp I decided to call this place. The person that answered the phone was friendly and informative so I asked if they could take me after work and immediately she said her name was Pearl and she could take me. I've read reviews about having to pay for parking but that didn't really bother me . Immediately I felt comfortable talking to her. She listened to my concerns, told me what my options were and what would work and why. For what she did, she worked fast and did a really good job. I got some hidden colors done by Pearl two weeks ago and I certainly love the color. If you have have bright color dreams on longer hair, absolutely see Pearl! Pro - Pearl herself! Friendly and enthusiastic about what we were doing. I was comfortable reading and playing on my phone while the bleach/color worked. The base color was exactly what I was hoping for after showing Pearl a couple inspiration photos. Cons - My greeting when I first walked in was brisk at best. The whole salon has a very community space, old timers vibe to it. If you come here regularly I bet it feels great. Coming for the first time, I felt out of place and awkward. The price I paid ($150) was my other major sticking point. $75 for a color felt more than reasonable but I was disappointed to learn it would be another $75 to bleach a section of my shoulder length hair. Pearl put the bleach in, checked twice, and washed it out. I'm not sure that was worth the money... Overall, if I had longer hair and felt I was getting more value for my dollar, I would probably come back. Unfortunately, the price for the amount of work just didn't feel right for me. read more

I went here yesterday and all I can say is I was absolutely amazed. It's such an open and pleasant place to be. Everyone just seems happy which makes you very comfortable. While I was here, I'm not sure who I saw but she completely fixed my hair. My hair had not been cut in a while so it was very dead and I had very uneven layers. I have never left a salon happy with my hair other than yesterday. It was such a beautiful cut and style that I left much more confident than when I had walked it. Now another thing, my hair is pretty damaged from all the chemical processing it's been through. She gave me some tips on how to fix my hair and told me I was already on the right track. Overall, she just made it a very comfortable visit and helped me a lot. Oh, and the pricing was WONDERFUL. read more

Brandy is great! She knows what she's doing and will take her time to understand exactly what you want. My hair always comes out exactly how I wanted it! Most hair stylists won't wash your hair before they color because it adds time to the service, but brandy will if she thinks it's too "dirty". I referred my husband to get his haircut from her and he loves it!- he doesn't have to tell her what he wants, she remembers! Very great personality and very patient! I am confused as to how this salon has gotten such high ratings. I used yelp and all these reviews to help me find a decent salon today, lets just say this salon wasn't it. I walked in with a reddish brown hue that I wanted to lighten. After she did my foils I could sense she might have messed up she kept referring to my hair as "penny hued" but reassured me after toning it would be okay. After shes completley done with my cut, she tells me she just put an all over color on my hair. This didn't click until I got home and my hair was dry. My hair is literally the exact color I walked in with. Not only did she mess up my hair, and now I have to pay someone else to fix it but she was very rough and rude the entire time. Constantly pulling and yanking at my hair. I just called to get my money back and before I even gave a name, they knew it was me.She knew she messed up my hair, and let me leave. I'm now waiting on a call back to see what the manager has to say. So long story short, I paid 180 dollars to get the same hair I walked in with. read more

I've found a new stylist!!!! My longtime stylist moved to the mainland over a year ago - have tried several salons since - no bad experiences, just not great experiences.... until today with Pearl. This afternoon I decided I couldn't wait any longer and needed to get a cut. I had seen Shear Artistry when shopping at Safeway so decided to give them a call. They just happened to have an opening in half an hour so I took it. Easy parking, and was greeted nicely from when I first walked in - everyone was so friendly. Pearl came out within a minute and introduced herself - smiling and sincere, I liked her immediately. I sat in her chair and went over my insecurities and let her take over. My shampoo was amazing - I thought I was going to fall asleep I was so comfy. Then to the cut - omgosh - she did a fantastic job!!!! I love my hair! Pearl is amazing!
