Shear Artistry Salon is located inside Mary Savio medical building on the 3rd floor. After reading good reviews about hair stylist, Pearl, I wanted to try this place. Their unit isn't too spacious but rather cozy. There are other hair stylists and I believe they're all independent. Pearl is such a sweet, friendly, and professional lady. I needed a touch up and she was able to match my hair color close to the previous one. I also liked her style of cutting and she was thorough to make sure it was cut perfectly. I called their main number and she return my call through text. She was able to schedule me within few days later which I was grateful. She also validated my parking ticket so I only had to pay a couple of dollars on the way out. She also does weddings if you're shopping around for that. read more

I always get my hair done by Pearl from Shear Artistry Salon! She is genuine about hair and a friendly local girl! You can tell she loves what she does with hair and makeup! The way she makes you feel before getting your hair done to after, is a total makeover. Check out Pearl on your next hair wants and needs! Did I mention she does bridal hair and makeup packages to include other special events you're celebrating? read more

The best part about my experience with Pearl is that she actually listened to what I wanted. I don't know how many salons I've been to with stylists who end up doing something totally off from what I originally asked for. Even though I wasn't completely sure about what I wanted, Pearl listened to my vision and need for a change (I CHOPPED off my long hair...I was ready for a major change). By the end, the length was exactly what I'd hoped for and the blow-out was fabulous. Thank you, Pearl! read more

I just love, love, love what she did! So much, that I made another appointment to get it colored. This will be my new place to get get my hair done. She is young, has fresh ideas, listens, and just pleasant! read more

Shear Artistry Salon - I went from long hair to a bob...love it! - Hair Salons Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

Even if you make an appointment A DAY AHEAD, make sure to call THE DAY OF. I called Saturday morning to make an appointment with Angela for Sunday. I called twice Saturday. On both occasions, I talked to Irene. She said I was good to go for Sunday at 10am. She even got my full name and number. Cool. I got there 15 minutes prior to my appointment only to find out that Angela had called in sick. In a perfect world, someone would've called to reschedule me. But nope, Irene said she didnt even have my name down for any appointment. Just, wow. What's even weird is that Irene said she tried to call Angela. Really, Irene? Angela called in sick, why are you asking if she can come in?!? Seriously? Because of Irene's mistake, I am not going back. The least she couldve done was woman up and say she messed up. Thats all. read more

I've been going to Krista for years. She is awesome. So when she relocated from Mililani to this location in Waimalu, I was excited since it is closer to my house. Krista is fabulous to her clients. She always does a great job with my haircuts and color and works with me on making appointments around my crazy schedule. Also, the other stylists are so friendly and helpful. read more

Mahalo Gail at Shear Artistry!! After calling a bunch of other Salons and Barbershops, I called Shear Artistry Salon and Gail quickly answers, informing me that she can see me within 30 mins, as I got there within 15, I informed Gail what I needed done, she quickly got to work, and I'm very happy and satisfied with her hardworking focus to ensuring that I get all my needs met. Mahalo Gail! You rock! Xoxo read more

The following 5-star review is entirely based on Krista, not Shear Artistry. As a grateful repeat client of Krista's, she is an exceptional individual with unmatched skills in her industry. I've searched for a rare treasure like her for many unfortunate disastrous years of less than tolerable haircuts. What especially sets Krista apart is her focus and her ability to listen well in order to understand her client's needs. She is also highly intuitive when it comes to the unique behavior of each head of hair. Along with these wonderful attributes, Krista is a beautiful gentle soul whom you can immediately feel at home with. By all appearences, the establishment itself can be described as very low key and in dire need of an update, however it's not the atmosphere that's gonna take care of your hair. The positive is that the lot parking is abundant and convenient. If you've been deperately seeking for someone for many years to style your hair, look no further. Krista is the only answer. She'll change your life. read more

I haven't cut my hair in 2 years and finally got it done here. Pros: -I called for reservations and luckily they had one on Veterans Day (Friday) the next day. -I didn't have to wait long after my appointment time to get started. -Ashley was my stylist and she is amazing -I didn't know how I wanted to cut it so she helped me decide. I also didn't know how short to go so she said she could cut it one length, try it, and come back within two weeks if I wanted it shorter. -she was also very sociable -price was reasonable at $36+tax for a shampoo and cut Cons: -none Overall, I would definitely come back and ask for Ashley. read more

I found My stylist randomly on IG and I am so happy that I was able to get my hair done with Pearl. She is such a great person and it seems like we have known each other for years! I am completely satisfied with the outcome of my hair. The salon makes you feel comfortable. Don't need to worry about the high maintenance girls staring at you when you walk in. All staff are welcoming. Thanks Pearl!! read more

Employee Rudeness...cannot walk around one person in the hallway and instead bumps into the person, no can say excuse me before approaching so person can move MORE out of your way (hallway get room for 4 people to walk comfortably side by side by the way) and no can say sorry even after bumping into person. Your rudeness just cost a customer. Decided not to set foot in the doors for fear your attitude would reflect on my head...no thank you. read more

I was looking for a stylist to touch up my highlights on the spur of the moment and my regular stylist somewhere else wasn't available. I wanted somewhere close to home and that open later so I could go after work. After checking out several reviews on yelp I decided to call this place. The person that answered the phone was friendly and informative so I asked if they could take me after work and immediately she said her name was Pearl and she could take me. I've read reviews about having to pay for parking but that didn't really bother me . Immediately I felt comfortable talking to her. She listened to my concerns, told me what my options were and what would work and why. For what she did, she worked fast and did a really good job. I was very satisfied with the job she did and told her, I was changing hairdresser and will be calling her in the future. read more

I love going to see Ashley. She does a wonderful job every single time. Parking is easy and it's a quick drive from Mililani to Aiea.

I went here yesterday and all I can say is I was absolutely amazed. It's such an open and pleasant place to be. Everyone just seems happy which makes you very comfortable. While I was here, I'm not sure who I saw but she completely fixed my hair. My hair had not been cut in a while so it was very dead and I had very uneven layers. I have never left a salon happy with my hair other than yesterday. It was such a beautiful cut and style that I left much more confident than when I had walked it. Now another thing, my hair is pretty damaged from all the chemical processing it's been through. She gave me some tips on how to fix my hair and told me I was already on the right track. Overall, she just made it a very comfortable visit and helped me a lot. Oh, and the pricing was WONDERFUL. read more

I got some hidden colors done by Pearl two weeks ago and I certainly love the color. If you have have bright color dreams on longer hair, absolutely see Pearl! Pro - Pearl herself! Friendly and enthusiastic about what we were doing. I was comfortable reading and playing on my phone while the bleach/color worked. The base color was exactly what I was hoping for after showing Pearl a couple inspiration photos. Cons - My greeting when I first walked in was brisk at best. The whole salon has a very community space, old timers vibe to it. If you come here regularly I bet it feels great. Coming for the first time, I felt out of place and awkward. The price I paid ($150) was my other major sticking point. $75 for a color felt more than reasonable but I was disappointed to learn it would be another $75 to bleach a section of my shoulder length hair. Pearl put the bleach in, checked twice, and washed it out. I'm not sure that was worth the money... Overall, if I had longer hair and felt I was getting more value for my dollar, I would probably come back. Unfortunately, the price for the amount of work just didn't feel right for me. read more

Said they take walk-ins but couldn't. Giving such a low rating because their new location is AWFUL! Parking for this building is a mess you have to pay... and it's a medical building super weird place for hair salon?!? This is where I get my dental work done... who wants to get their hair done where people are also getting their teeth drilled? Old location looked better, wont be making an appointment. read more

Pearl was my hair Angel! I have been trying to get a lob (long bob) done on my hair and have come up with a shaved head and a dora look alike. Brandy is great! She knows what she's doing and will take her time to understand exactly what you want. My hair always comes out exactly how I wanted it! Most hair stylists won't wash your hair before they color because it adds time to the service, but brandy will if she thinks it's too "dirty". I referred my husband to get his haircut from her and he loves it!- he doesn't have to tell her what he wants, she remembers! Very great personality and very patient! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist! Brandy is definitely a professional and won't let you walk out of there with horrible-looking hair! read more

I am confused as to how this salon has gotten such high ratings. I used yelp and all these reviews to help me find a decent salon today, lets just say this salon wasn't it. I walked in with a reddish brown hue that I wanted to lighten. After she did my foils I could sense she might have messed up she kept referring to my hair as "penny hued" but reassured me after toning it would be okay. After shes completley done with my cut, she tells me she just put an all over color on my hair. This didn't click until I got home and my hair was dry. My hair is literally the exact color I walked in with. Not only did she mess up my hair, and now I have to pay someone else to fix it but she was very rough and rude the entire time. Constantly pulling and yanking at my hair. I just called to get my money back and before I even gave a name, they knew it was me.She knew she messed up my hair, and let me leave. I'm now waiting on a call back to see what the manager has to say. So long story short, I paid 180 dollars to get the same hair I walked in with. read more

I've found a new stylist!!!! My longtime stylist moved to the mainland over a year ago - have tried several salons since - no bad experiences, just not great experiences.... until today with Pearl. This afternoon I decided I couldn't wait any longer and needed to get a cut. I had seen Shear Artistry when shopping at Safeway so decided to give them a call. They just happened to have an opening in half an hour so I took it. Easy parking, and was greeted nicely from when I first walked in - everyone was so friendly. Pearl came out within a minute and introduced herself - smiling and sincere, I liked her immediately. I sat in her chair and went over my insecurities and let her take over. My shampoo was amazing - I thought I was going to fall asleep I was so comfy. Then to the cut - omgosh - she did a fantastic job!!!! I love my hair! Pearl is amazing! Did I say I actually love my hair??? Yes! Thank you, Pearl - you're a keeper! p.s. Bonus today was seeing Gwen - think Bill may have guided me there :) read more

This may be a new salon, but these are some well established stylist. I just recently became a client of Ashley's, but I would follow her anywhere on the island. I went here for the first time (I will definitely return) today as a walk-in trying to fit in a haircut into a busy mom's schedule. You are greeted with a friendly atmosphere. While I didn't go in expecting something spectacular in the middle of a list of to-do's still waiting and was about to throw caution into the wind with my long hair, and I was surprisingly pleased to see experienced stylists I saw years before from Head's Up. I was relaxed in there with my young child, and my stylist understood exactly what I wanted/needed. This surely is the place to go! read more
