This year, my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and to celebrate, my siblings and I arranged a family trip to Hawaii. We had a party of 18, ranging in ages from preschoolers to mid-70s. Finding a photographer required some research and ultimately a leap of faith. We recognized that the chances of us being together like this in a beautiful setting probably won't happen again, so we had high expectations and a lot of nervousness about making sure it all worked out. We needn't have worried. Harneet had us covered all the way through. From his calm demeanor to his quick replies to emails to his proactive suggestions about beautiful locations to his flexibility and patience in working with us, Harneet was a dream. In his hands, all my nervousness slipped away and I got to enjoy the fun, creative photo arrangements we put together as a family and to reflect on the wonderful opportunity we had to come together and celebrate like we did. We came to Kauai on our first vacation with our baby and hired Shelly for a "family of three"…read morephotoshoot by the beach in Poipu. First off, she is very responsive to text and emails. I love that. She didn't leave us hanging, ever. Also, Shelly herself is a very sweet and kind person. You can just see it in her demeanor. She was so accommodating! The weather was bad getting worse when she got here for our scheduled time, and many photographers would have just said "ok let's go indoors and do the shoot" - but Shelly offered to come back again the next day when the weather was supposed to be better (and it was completely better thankfully!). It was generous of her since it meant more of a time commitment on her part, but you could tell she just wanted to make sure we got great pictures. We are really thankful for that! Now, what about the pictures themselves? After all, that is what you hire her for, right? They came out great! Lots of variety - I don't think a single pair of pictures looks similar to each other. I hate it when you get the pictures back and it's basically all the same pose of "the family looking into the camera". Shelly made sure we got lots of different poses, angles, backgrounds. She picked great spots that were easy to get to but also photographed really well. She did a great job with the composition of the shots themselves. Her turnaround time to get us the pictures was pretty insane actually! I could not believe she got them to us so quickly! We found her price to be super reasonable, too.
