I would have given zero stars if possible.
On the phone we were told that Hindu ceremonies where a candle light is used can be performed. The charge was little over $6000 even with the cheapest casket and $150 Urn and cremation at Newton Cemetary. Of this there was a $3000 fee for the Funeral Director and Staff even though we were charged line item fees for transporting the body, embalming, casket, Urn. When asked about the $3000, the answer was, "That is my fee. You can go some where else if you don't like it". Since Organ donation was involved and it was already 4pm, there was no time to call others who were quoting $4000 total. We were led to believe that once the body was prepared, we could be there to dress. When we called, were told that we have exactly 10min to come to give the clothes and leave immediately or they would use a plastic sheet. Since we needed a candle, we decided to perform the religious rites at Newton cemetery where we could use the typical Hindu flame. That was a $800 loss to this funeral home and $600 cost at Newton cemetery. The funeral director became very hostile when we made this change. The next morning, he called when we were at lunch. He asked if I can come in 10 minutes and when I asked if I can in half hour, he said, "Oh! your lunch is more important? I have only 10 minutes." I had to cut short my lunch and rush there.
Very money minded, rude and hostile. It is not a surprise that I never saw any other car in the parking lot any time I was there. read more
