They did not bring the flower arrangements to my grandmother's grave side funeral service. They said that they forgot. Really upsetting.

Very unhappy. The director seemed hung-over, staff joked with each other. Felt like we were crashing a staff party. Not professional at all.

If you're considering this funeral home and its staff for your loved one's services, look no…read morefurther. Trust me. Our families felt at ease throughout the entire process and left the first meeting with John feeling as if our needs were met. John went above and beyond to ensure that we understood the processes, and he fulfilled a few of our personalized requests in an effort to remember our angel baby daughter. 10/10 recommend. Thank you, John.

Let's be honest: funerals suck. No one wants to plan a funeral. You're in crisis mode, trying to…read morehold it together when you'd rather curl up in a ball. Well, that was cheering. Hopefully, you and/or your loved ones have pre-planned for this event. That makes it oh so much easier on everyone. Should you find yourself in need, the Douglass Edgerly & Bessom funeral home can assist you. In our case, we knew we would be using this company, and Hospice made arrangements with them for transport and to get copies of the death certificate so we didn't have to worry about making any calls. The funeral home offers a wide range of services and will do a lot of the planning on your behalf such as arranging for the church and organist and having a tent and seats set up at the cemetery, getting the permit and so on. The caskets offered run from economical to plush. You can choose to have an organist play during a wake, or they will select appropriate CD's from their collection. They arrange for newspaper announcements, offer condolence books, and tissues, tissues everywhere for the mourners. Everyone we encountered was professional and thoughtful. The limousine, which carried 7 of us, was clean and tidy. Flags were on all the cars in the procession (there were quite a few). They assisted with parking during the service, ordered flowers and on and on. They did a wonderful job making the process as effortless as possible. They were able to accommodate an unexpected, last minute, request without showing a ruffled feather. All together professional and courteous.

One of us was two payments late on one of the plots because another family was supposed to pay for it in full. after it was paid in full, accounting didn't care to hear it. Harrassed person with two phone calls in less than a minute, with no message, nasty to talk to and sent nasty notecards in mail to pay up, eventhough plot was paid in full. Staff needs to get their shit together and communicate with each other when bills are paid and not harass customers. Will never use that plot now and will let it rot, never to be used just to make sure Puritan Lawn never makes another dime off of it, opening it up or ever having a service. Wish Dad wasn't there.

They posted that this year the pick up date was 6/9/20, so I went there today and the flowers were gone along with the flag. I went to the office and they said they changed the date to 6/2, but never notified any of the owners of the properties. They said I could go down behind the garage and have one of the men there help me look through a pile of flowers to see if I can find it. That really upset me. Now I don't know if I can put flowers again, and trust they will stay. I think the only reason they take off Memorial day flowers is so that they can charge again for Father's day to make more money. BEWARE of the scam regarding flowers at this cemetery.

Mum & I wanted to dress Dad & Kevin Barile was there with such kindness to help us do this. Now Mum passed on January 29th 2021. I even recorded her saying " I want to go to Doherty Barile and have Kevin and Ralph take care of me" and she added "Allison, make sure that my eyebrows are on right". From the time she passed at Artis Senior Living of Reading to the time she went to the crematory , I will never forget. Kind calls from Ralph Barile and Kevin Barile to say not to worry about a thing. They came to get and transport Mum at Artis Senior Living of Reading to their funeral home . She was lovingly covered up in a pretty blanket and I walked out with John who transported her to the funeral home with great dignity. I once again participated in dressing her along with Kevin Barile who was wonderful . I'd wanted to put some additional touches of her favorite - perfume, lancome & lipstick - chanel of course! During the worst time of a låoss of a loved one I can't ever be more grateful for the beautiful experience I have had with losing both parents and especially my Mother, Margaret. I was able to be "hands on" and that comforted me so. And my Mum looked absolutely beautiful. She looked just as if she was going to work at Lord & Taylor and not skipping a beat. The best I think was when I submitted Mum's obituary and I looked online for her obituary & I gasped! There was Mum's picture with the Burlington Lord & Taylor building right behind her! Just amazing! And what a beautiful thing for them to do. I had only happy thoughts from then on. I do hope that you don't need their services anytime soon. But if the worst happens you will start to heal the moment you call Barile Funeral Homes.
