This place, for me, is in case I don't want to go to my usual stores or other Shaws because I'm on a time crunch. Their produce section sometimes has mold on fruits or produce. Most recently Too often, I have found mold/ produce going bad, and I have to hand it to someone I find working ok the floor. I purchased strawberries recently and didn't notice hairy mold on the berries until I was home. It was hidden in the middle deep down. They also misplace products under different names and prices and blame you for requesting the price listed. I also had that issue recently with a product I wanted to purchase. After that interaction, I refused to make the purchase. I've given them too many chances. I'm good. Some of the staffs are friendly. I don't usually write out reviews unless it's more; well, it's a dire situation! read more

Shaw's Grocery doesn't pay their high school employees. My best friend's daughter is a Senior at Rice High School and gave her noticed to concentrate on studies. It took Shaw's HR department 6 months to send her last two paychecks. Those Shaw's pay checks BOUNCED!! Kid gets charged $30 returned check fee twice. Lots of lip service and empty promises by Shaw's management & corporate. There is still no resolution so her mom's next phone call is to the Vermont Department of Labor. Shaw's = Crooks. I will NEVER shop at Shaw's again and would go hungry before dropping a dime there. Pay the kid. read more

Overall, I like this store as it's less than 2 miles from my apartment, has plenty of parking, and a good selection of items. I like the fact they sell sushi here as I love sushi, even store made. My only pet peeve with this store is that I have no idea where to find Pita Chips. They have plenty of Hummus but I was unable to find Pita Chips anywhere. You would think they would be in the snack aisle but I didn't see them. They're usually near the Hummus but I was also unable to find them in this area as well. Other than that, this is a decent store. I love the fact I can buy beer and wine here as well. read more

Very annoying staff. My 31 year old husband and I (29) went in but I forgot my ID as I'm not used to being carded. So we bought everything else and he went back in alone to buy the wine as we needed it for cooking. He went back and despite having a valid ID proving him way over the legal limit the rude staff member came back and denied sale again even though he was now alone with a valid ID. FYI you can't control what people do with your product after they legally purchase it. Even if I was underaged he had no right to deny sale to my husband. Very ill mannered when he came on the scene too. Thoroughly unimpressed. read more

Get your flu shot! I was buying groceries and I figured as I was walking by the pharmacy to ask how much it was. Without insurance it costs 29.99 but sometimes your insurance company will cover that. They ran my card and it did- so why not! It took only 5 minutes to go through the insurance process and sign their form and get the shot. Very easy. The pharmacists are super nice and awesome. They also have a deal going on until December where if you transfer a prescription there or fill a new one, you get a $25 gift card!! But make sure you mention it because it doesn't happen automatically. read more

Older guy working in dairy aisle, is rude as hell talked to me like a child because he was blocking the items I needed and told him I needed said items and he took it as a time to lecture me about social distancing (which I had a mask and told him I needed items where he was blocking ) to explain how I needed to shop. - Produce is limited and normally 50% gross. - Seems to be missing many of the key items/brands that can be found at other stores, like Hannaford's or Price Chopper. - Much more expensive than competing stores on average. Shaw's has some good food and options but they can do better. Some of the produce is going bad. Try looking at moldy fruits especially on the weekends. Sometimes food items are out. In the bakery items such as the Hawaiian Sweet Rolls haven't been in stock in months. The bathrooms are absolutely terrible. Smell awful and no toilet paper. Sometimes you can wait a really long time in line especially in evenings. Maybe they should consider getting some self check outs. read more

The three Shaw's in the county I've been to ALL seem significantly different in layout and format. Why is that? Anyway, this one is closest to me and I tend to hit it coming home from work or downtown. It's got excellent parking although the ingress and egress (yeah dumb words, sorry) seems a bit messed up and will likely result in a few fender benders for sure. Even the store entrance is a bit wonky as they (like most super grocers) only leave one entrance open after 8pm which isn't a big deal but you do need to remember which one is open at what store given the big parking lots. Also, this one has a huge exit area...why? I just find the entrance and exit here a bit oddball, but not a serious detractor. Detractors? Well, my BIGGEST one here has got to be a lack of a cashier operated express lane. Instead, someone at this Shaw's thought they'd be clever and force any express traffic to use the Self Checkouts. Sure they have maybe 4 or 5 of these but it forces all of those people to ONE LINE if it's backed up. And trust me, it gets backed up as these Self Checkouts are ALWAYS slow!!! I don't generally blame the users of them either as the software forces you through such a arduous list of process steps: 1. English? 2. Rewards card? 3. Please swipe your items 4. No UPC? place on scale, hunt for the food type or code 5. Place all items in basket area PERFECTLY or I'll yell at you and you'll have to sit through waiting for an employee to fix my fussiness. 6. Got a coupon? Swipe it...it MIGHT take. If not that fun light comes on and you get to wait again! ...on and on I could go. I generally don't like self checkout. Also, there are some items that REQUIRE a cashier like meat coupon deals that can only be removed by a cashier or ID checks for alcohol. Bottom line this Shaws NEEDS a real express lane. Overall, good selection of items, has a Nature's Place of organics which is tiny but can generally find things I want in there. The freezers are well organized and easy to navigate. Service seems pretty good although last time I was there they had no one manning the bakery section. read more

You can get bananas, apples, and fresh produce here are reasonable prices. If you're serious about eating healthy and you're just feeding yourself, you'll be fine shopping here. This is the Los Angeles equivalent to Ralphs. I chuckle when I see they have California produce. Good to know I can still get some Cali food out on the east coast. I have nothing against Shaws but this location is terrible at customer service. I was just in today to pick up a few items and it was quite busy but I saw a cashier open up a lane so I proceeded to put my stuff on the belt. She very rudely told me she wasn't "really" open yet she was ringing out the gentleman in front of me. I proceed to go to the next line which was very long only to see that this lady that told me she wasn't "really" open was helping other customers. The Shaws store itself offers a wide variety of products and is clean and tidy. My experience in the store this evening however, was ruined by a few unappreciative bratty teenage girls. My boyfriend and I walked in at 10:50, to grab some lemon Italian ice that we had been craving. We were greeted by a (roughly) 16 year old girl who shouted out, "we close in 10 minutes, just so you know!" This instantly was unwelcoming and made me feel unwanted in the store. We grabbed the Italian ice and a bag of chips......made our way toward the register, it was 10:55.... The casier began ringing the two items without even acknowledging us......my boyfriend asked "how'd we do?"....... She responded "good, you made it before the closing announcement." She did not smile, look up, or show any appreciation for the very customers who ensure she has a job to report to. This girl seemed bothered by customers. As we were waiting for the payment to clear another employee came in pushing a few carts..... Both girls (cashier and bagger) turned their heads rapidly and one said "oh, he works here." The other said "I know! He came in a minute ago and I was like No!". I am not a confrontational person at all, but found myself biting my tongue to not say anything to these unprofessional, bitchy little girls. They need a reality check and some lessons in customer service. Just picked up a lunch from the deli hot bar . $8.79 . I had watermelon pineapple blueberries. Chicken , beef mac and cheese. Zucchini squash mushrooms . So fairly healthy oh and quacamole . Not bad I'm full now and it was quick. read more

They have a very good food bar, wing bar, and salad bar which they keep well stocked. However, the price is a little steep as you pay by the pound. What is awful is the wait time to checkout. They usually only have one express lane open. Its very slow. If you're going to sell ready made meals you need to have a speedy checkout process. read more

My cousin and I were at your store last week, late afternoon. We had a few basic items to purchase, and, some German Dumplings - Spaetzle. We searched, not long, all of what we thought were the obvious places. Decided to ask an employee....first guy, obviously, from the meat department, had no idea, very pleasantly found us, Charles! He had heard of it....searched for 5 minutes or more....went on a search for help...Marilyn! She, too, was more than helpful! After another 5 minutes or so, we found a possible substitute, proceeded to find the last few items, headed for the checkout. Who comes hurrying over to us, Charles, he and Marilyn had continued to look and found the Spaetzle. All done with courteous, good nature! checkout for some reason here is a bit odd; Had small bag of dogfood, frozen pizza; bag of dog treats, bag of raviolis; paid, handed me the receipt, and moved on to next person; I said: uh. you gonna bag these? kind of stared at me , so i said nevah mind, ill do it myself; Once done she said: have a nice night, to which i just gave a blank stare; Back in June had issue with an "elvira looking" checkout lady who called me out while i was the third person waiting to checkout in her line, for having 11 items in a 10 item lane; I told her "you gotta be kiddin lady; you got x ray vison??"; no reason for this ineptitude and silliness; NEVER got treated like that at Hannafords, Price Chopper; Path Mark, Shop Rite, Acme, A&P, Grand Union; Macs........you get the pic; Plenty of other places to shop read more
