I'm a perfectionist and Bill Roberts Homes exceeded ALL of my expectations. Of course delays were inevitable in our current situation with vendors but they kept me informed and I always felt like they truly wanted me as a happy client!! The in house designers Abby and Jayme were incredible!! They made picking out everything so enjoyable. Then Charlie kept everything on schedule and helped me every step of the way by making sure my new home was taken care of just like it was his. Everyone I dealt with had a passion about building an incredible home, and taking care of me as client. Believe me i'm NOT easy to please. I knew from the beginning Bill Roberts would build me the best quality home! I just don't know he gave the best customer service too!!!

The touch ups we were offered toward the end of our warranty period did little to address the root of the problem. It appears that much of the paint work was not properly prepared, as it should not be peeling in a brand new home. ADM Painting was sent out in December to complete the touch ups, but we have continued to experience new paint issues since then, including in areas that were already repaired. We now have multiple baseboards with exposed wood, as well as peeling on the island and back doors. I've included photos of some of the botched touch up jobs done and areas where the paint is now completely gone. We did not know when purchasing this home that we would not be able to do touch ups ourselves due to the kind of paint used. For context, we are very meticulous homeowners. We do not have children, we own a small 10 pound dog, and there is minimal traffic in these areas. Normal wear and tear is not a factor. If you are considering buying a home from McGregor, I would recommend having a conversation about their use of lacquer paint for trim. In our experience, they have not been able to achieve a durable or consistent finish. Everything from crown molding, baseboards, and cabinet doors are flaking and peeling. This should not be happening in a brand new build. Previously, we lived in a DR Horton home in Houston that cost significantly less, and the trim and paint were in better condition after eight years than what we are seeing in this home after a much shorter period.

The level of disorganization and incompetence we encountered was astonishing. Turner & Son does not use traditional blueprints; everything is done electronically, which meant trades were working off their phones. Our foundation was poured incorrectly, causing major issues with plumbing and everything that followed. Whenever we pointed out mistakes, the project manager repeatedly told us, "We'll fix it at finals," which only created more work and frustration for the trades who had to return multiple times--problems that could have been avoided if addressed immediately. Once the building process started, we met Tim Turner only once--on the day the house was staked out. Throughout the entire build, he returned just one phone call and continually insisted his "team" was handling things, even though they clearly weren't. The project manager was unresponsive, dismissive, and lacked the knowledge needed to manage a custom build. We were often treated as if we didn't understand the process, despite my husband being an engineer with more building knowledge than the PM demonstrated. For a company that advertises custom homes, the selection options were shockingly limited. We later learned they only offer items available through a consortium, meaning they are not truly a custom builder despite how they market themselves. We ended up purchasing many fixtures ourselves. We were also told not to speak to the trades directly, but doing so was the only way issues were resolved quickly. Many tradespeople expressed their own frustrations with Turner & Son's processes, which aligned with our experience. The number of mistakes that had to be corrected could fill a book. While the final home is beautiful, the process was unnecessarily stressful and exhausting. We now tell anyone considering Turner & Son to avoid them entirely. We've also spoken with other homeowners who had similar experiences, and some shared that their negative reviews were removed. If I could give them an F minus, I would. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a builder.
