Very knowledgeable doctor, Compassionate, sensitive to patients…read more I'm trusting him a lot. Especially, hoping to get rid all RXs on my retirement !!!!

If I could give zero stars I would but that is not an option. This guy is an absolute tool. I did…read morenot need to be assessed while at McLaren but they asked and said it was optional and I figured it would not hurt. I was wrong. This crook kept me for an additional day at the hospital because he said a Dr. had reported they heard me making statements indicating I was homicidal. I was not even suicidal much less homicidal. He was trying to railroad a mental health nurse to inpatient care because I guess maybe he was behind on his car payments. He asked me three times during the first interview what I did for a living. You think he would remember if someone told him they were a mental health RN but not this genius. I was in for pain and CMH did a mental health screen and cleared me. Then the NP later told me since Mark assessed me he could override the CMH recommendation. Of course they did not tell me this prior to seeing this liar. I will never step foot back in a McLaren as a patient. I will be going to Munson in Gaylord or Traverse city. I find it hard to believe this guy has so many good reviews, I question the veracity of these reviews. They cannot possibly be real. He provided substandard clinical performance with clearly questionable medical judgement and honesty to be frank. He was dismissive of my statements and he talked at me more than to me trying to build his BS case for homicidal ideation. He lacked professional conduct as his approach to medicine was highly questionable and unprofessional, he actually called me a liar when I denied homicidal ideation and told him he was a quack. He yelled it as the nurse was pulling the monitor away from my bed. His dismissive attitude and unprofessional conduct compromised the patient-physician relationship. It was all BAD, it is as simple as that. I honestly cannot say one good thing about him. I only saw him twice but he made and cancelled multiple appointments throughout the day and I saw him LATE. UNACCEPTABLE! Even my nurse said he was horrible. The NP that was caring for me overrode this MOMO's recommendation and I was discharged to home at the end of the second day on the trauma floor. I have patients on the behavioural health unit I work on tell me that ER nurses and doctors as well as psychiatrists and CMH screeners lie about what they say all the time, I was skeptical regarding this possibility but now I know this definitely happens. What is way more common though is the patients telling me that ER staff tell them they can either get out after 72 hours or they can leave whenever they want. Then once they get on the unit they find out the truth. This is exactly what happened to me. I was told I would leave the next day after a MRI was performed but this was not the case. This experience has made me change my specialty in nursing as I refuse to work for a behavioural health unit, I do not want to be any part of the broken mental health system in this country. You have been warned.

Controversial review? Perhaps. With mental health problems still holding a stigma, I admit that…read moreI've suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. As such, a long time ago I chose to put my feelings aside and seek help. Through random chance, I chose North Shore Wellness Center. Because of the way some people view this, I did not seek guidance but rather searched for which doctors were covered by my insurance plan, checked a few medical website to learn about the doctors and chose one of the psychiatrists here. As the person facing challenges, you don't always recognize the signs. It is only when others tell you something is wrong, which can be embarrassing and insulting, do you know you should seek someone out. Over the years, the doctors I have seen at Northshore Wellness have been of tremendous help. Yes, Psychiatrists primarily dispense and manage medication. Northshore Wellness also offers counseling services with Psychologists and Social Workers. I have had an off and on again relationship with a therapist, too, who has helped me get through some tough times. In the middle of a tough time, I was transferred by my company out of the area. I found help in my new city - actually I tried several Psychiatrists and Psychologists but none were able to help. Things degraded. I moved back to Chicagoland and went back do see the doctors here. Without their services and support, I'm not sure where I would be today. The practice has about a dozen or so doctors and therapists. I believe they have two locations. I go to their Northbrook clinic. As I sit in the waiting room, people are clearly nervous, worried that someone will recognize them - the stigma associated with mental health sucks. They have a wide variety of therapists with differing specialties - parents bring their young children, adolescents show up for help and many adults. If you are worried and need help, they are in a business park off the beaten path where you walk down a narrow walkway between buildings to get to the door. So, the chance of being seen by prying eyes is very minimal. Personally, I hate that people don't understand that mental illness is typically something people don't recognize or have any direct control over. The reality is, with help, you can learn coping strategies. With medication, any chemical cause can be alleviated or minimized. The first step and the hardest part is recognizing and understanding you need help. Once you seek help and you meet the doctors, you learn they are compassionate, understanding, available, and well worth your time. If you suspect you may have a problem, or more importantly, others suggest you should talk to someone, seek their advice. Northshore Wellness is the first place I would recommend to others.

I feel so LUCKY to have found Dr. Binder! After a lifetime of old-fashioned treatments, SSRI/SNRIs…read morethat would cause more harm than good, no progress, but any doctor ever seen jumping straight to another, I felt done. Dr. Binder's knowledge is so insightful! He was able to explain WHY many had struggles with these go-to antidepressants! Hereditary Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and adding PTSD, he is up to date on ALL options available and knowledgeable how they work on the brain (neurology and psychiatry, perfect pair!).. He is quick to reach when needed, and after many doctors kept "giving up" on me and labeling me as "treatment resistent", Binder continues to work WITH me as we carefully follow the trail of what types of medications seem to help, which makes things worse, which does nothing, etc! I feel heard and affirmed, and this doctor is NOT "one size fits all"! He really looks at the INDIVIDUAL's needs! With him, you don't go through secretaries or others, but rather speak RIGHT with him every single time! My former doctor was retiring, and I was in a desperate state trying to find a doctor to continue treatment I was already on, and unfortunately during a holiday weekend. I left many messages to so many doctors, and finally tired Binder.. and he called me on a Holiday within 10 minutes! I am SO GRATEFUL! The doctor/patient relationship is incredibly important to make progress, and I see a few others who did not like one thing or another, and this is normal! FOR ME, I appreciate him knowing my comfort zones and working WITH me, hearing MY thoughts and how I'm doing.. I am blown away in amazement at all he's taught me! THANK YOU, DR. BINDER, FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!
