My Daughter passed in Jan, I gave this funeral home a picture of my daughter and was told she would look her very best. Her hair was not fixed the way it was in the photo, they only put foundation on her not full make like she was in photo. Her clothes looked like they was just thrown on her. I would not recommend this funeral home to anyone. I was so heartbroken over losing my daughter and to see her not even close to looking the way she made herself was heartbreaking as well. My family and I had to us Shaw-Davis funeral home for arrangements for my niece who passed unexpectedly, and they were all wonderfully professional and did not attempt to up-sell us nor did they charge obscene amounts for their services. My family had had a longstanding relationship with another funeral home in town, and although their service has been professional, their costs had become incredibly high. Thus, we explored other options, and boy were we glad we called on Shaw-Davis. All of the staff there are exceptional, but we really came to know and appreciate Alena the most. She is a very kind and considerate person and very helpful in choosing service items and for knowing just the right words for an obituary or memorial plaque. My experience was bad. They had no record of my appointment, Adam Shaw had little recollection of the conversation he had with my sibling 14 hours earlier, and didn't bother apologizing for it. When my Mom passed away after a brief illness, I did some research on the funeral homes in the Columbus area. At first blush, Shaw Davis had the best price for what the family was interested in (2 viewings, a service, and cremation). While price was a component of the decision we were making, it was not the determining factor. My wife, brother, and I sat down with Adam who was very helpful as we discussed our options. There was no high pressure sales tactics and no attempt to upsell us into things we were not interested in. Adam educated us on the details and procedures that occur behind the scenes so that we had a good understanding of what to expect and how the whole process worked. One of our concerns (as I am sure everyone can relate) is how my Mom would look as she lay in repose. This was especially concerning to us as she had a nasty abrasion across the bridge of her nose and a scar just above the hairline from a recent surgery. Adam's team did a fantastic job. Neither of the injuries were visible. Their use of cosmetics was only what was needed and not over the top. They also painted her nails and used the lipstick that we provided to make Mom look better than we thought was possible given the circumstances. We remain deeply appreciative of their work and extremely grateful for their compassionate professionalism as they guided us through this difficult process. While none of us ever want to go through this...we all must unfortunately. If you have a loved one who has passed away and want it handled correctly Do Not Use this funeral home service!!! They botched my father's obituary writing the wrong date Of death by six months and wrote the wrong age and when it was brought to their attention Kip Shaw put the blame back on the family even though we had sat with Kip Shaw and wrote out all the information with him!! If this wasn't bad enough they claimed to continually call my phone number and not be able to get a hold of me when it was them who wrote the wrong phone number down. We were told we will be contacted prior to the obituaries running as to the cost and when the obituary was going to run neither of which were done and only found out the obituary had run when the family began getting embarrassing phone calls as to why we had waited six months for my father to pass before alerting anyone:( The poor service doesn't stop there:( My father had picked this funeral Home service as he was a frugal man and he Wanted to make things easier on his children and he would be so upset and disappointed as to how they handled it.Mistakes made every step of the way!!!!! I am the only family member in Ohio and This funeral home service not only couldn't get the right phone number but couldn't email as well. I'm not sure if they are illiterate or just don't care. Even after over $1000 was paid we could not get a receipt until I walked into the crematorium to pick it up. Losing a loved one is hard enough but I have to deal with incompetency makes it so much harder. read more

Whenever I see Kip, it is bittersweet because we have lost someone but I know that my loved one and my family is in the best of hands and will be treated with the utmost respect. Very unprofessional and unsympathetic. Greeted us in tennis shoes, told us how "the General" - Mr. Shaw - scatters ashes of those whom the family does not want back at his beach house on Buckeye Lake. We had to call to find out our Mother had been cremated days before and was ready to be picked up. They then called back to see if we wanted her belongings back - she had none with her. They checked and said "Sorry, we mixed up the names. She doesn't have anything that needs to be picked up". What else did they "Mix up"???. The greeting at pick up was also very cold and unprofessional. Use Rutherford or Newcomber. read more
