At first I was a bit worried about taking indoor golf lessons during covid but all of the rooms at The Turn - Golf Manhattan where he teaches are very large and private. I feel very comfortable and safe in the 1 - 1 teaching setting! I've been taking golf lessons with him since July. When we started together I was shooting around 110 and now shooting 95. During our first lesson I learned the importance controlling things I can control.. setup, grip, ball position. From there we learned to swing the club properly and how to move my body correctly. These are things I had never thought much about! I had been using too much upper body on my downswing! Evan uses uses video analysis and the Trackman simulator to help show me what I'm doing incorrectly. The visual learning of the video and data given by the Trackman are very helpful. I'm looking forward to breaking 90 soon! The facility Evan teaches at The Turn Golf Manhattan is top of the line and so is his instruction. After a few swings Marc was able to diagnose the main issue with the swing and make the proper adjustment. They were able to work through irons, driver and sand wedge within the hour and he is excited to put the revamped swing to use on the course. He also particularly loved the screen that you hit into and the type of data you are able to derive from it (angle of contact, open vs closed club face, etc.). I took indoor golf lessons when I was in college but i didn't learn much about the skills, especially was bad on consistency. I feel the lessons with Marc were so much better. I met with Marc five times, one hour each time. He can always easily pinpoint the problem in my movements, give me instructions to improve and spend a lot of time letting me repeat and build my consistency. I figured this was the perfect time to try it out. What i wasn't expecting was an additional $29 fee for using the bay. Plus tax and then being asked to leave a tip. I definitely wasn't expecting to pay that much on top of a promotion for a complimentary session. On the positive side, the people working there were really nice and welcoming. I really appreciated that club rentals were included. I tried out the different games that they had in their virtual screen. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but i just wish they told us about the additional fees and had been a little more transparent upfront.

So I did a search via Google/Yelp and Mike seemed to have a great reputation. First lesson booked! Mike is super friendly and a great instructor. He didn't care that I knew nothing about Golf and made me feel confident in learning a new skill. He was patient and explained what everything meant so I understood the lingo if I was ever on a course (I can #TalkThatTalk now). Having clubs and golf balls already there was very nice, since I don't own any equipment. The simulator used for the lesson is a state-of-the-art golf simulator and is fantastic to see all the metrics in your swing and distance. This made the experience fun and engaging.
