Came to this UC at 459 tonight, when I called it said they close at 8. They actually close at 5. They were so nice about it and didn't make us feel like a burden. Our daughter was seen quickly. The nurse and MD were both GREAT! They sent meds to the pharmacy in the same building it was ready instantly. The UC is clean. Had a great experience and highly recommend!! read more

I love Sharp Chula Vista! Dr. Gamboa is a magician. I had been struggling with my carpul tunnel and had been in severe pain for months. They were able to get me in quick. Dr. Gamboa explained everything to me in detail, answered my questions and I received injection in my hands. My hands feel 95 % better. I would recommend everyone to go see him. The staff is great too. I lived about 70 miles away from Chula Vista definitely worth the drive!! Thank you to Dr. Gamboa and his team for taking such good care of me!! read more

I just want to praise this SRS location's Specialty Department (specifically my Allergy Nurse Joseph C., as well as the front desk staff including but not limited to: Joanna, Christina, and most recently Herman, & Melissa). Today, I just completed my 4-year allergy injection therapy to rid my sensitivity to all allergens I've suffered my entire life. The allergy injection therapy has been a game changer for me! No more Allegra, Claritin, Benadryl, Flonase, Zyrtec, etc. RN Joseph has been administering my allergy injections the entire time, and along with Dr Odhav (my allergy doctor from the Scripps Ranch location) have been wonderful in treating my lifelong allergies, which have been responsible for much of my asthma issues. With my allergies well under control without the constant need for OTC medications, my asthma related health issues have decreased significantly. It was always a pleasure coming in as often as I had because the staff has always been top notch! Every office visit, they were friendly, helpful, attentive and it felt like white glove service whenever I had an appointment here. All the desk help were awesome booking upcoming appointments up to 6 months out, accommodating me when conflicts came up and getting me setup with an alternative appointment date/time. If you have any reasons for visiting SRS's specialty department for allergy, ENT, MSK, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Audiology, Nephrology, or Pacemakers, you'll be in great hands! I have been here about 5 times since moving to San Diego. Our primary is on East Palomar but when I need urgent care, we come here. Most of the time the wait is very reasonable (45 min-2 hours) but they call and update you. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable about symptoms and what to do. What is going on here in the south bay!? My wife went to urgent care Wednesday with her shoulder killing her. She hates pills and pain meds, but she had tears in her eyes and needed pain meds, ibuprofen and Tylenol were not working. After her visit the doctor said she didn't have a Rx pad, which you need to send narcotics electronically, it's the law, so she gave her nothing. No recommendation no help. Just wasted time. Now her new doc is Coronado, but the poor girl can't handle her load and doesn't even respond to your messages. So my wife gets in today and explains to the doc on call and said she thinks she needs a narcotic for the pain. The doc said that's the wrong word to say. What? It's what it is and it's legal when prescribed, which it should have been and the doctor knows that cause she made her cry when she touched it. She sent her out feeling like a drug addict for asking for help, and was given nothing to help with the pain. This is why people die from overdose, because they trust their doctors to care for them and when they refuse people get desperate. Now, this won't be my wife's case, but it is easy to see how doctors push people into overdose situations because of their fear to use their license to help people. I personally have left the south bay sharp facilities because of the poor care and go downtown. Where znot only the doctors are 1000 times better, it's not a disgusting pig sty like otay and 3 rd Ave. Soo the person who sees this review contacts me and says a patient liaison will be calling, I said I doubt it. And I was right. But my wife has an appointment this morning without any notification through a phone call. She just happened to check the portal and found out. It was with a msk doctor and he said oh no, I don't like what's going on here. It's bad and my wife new it and explained to two doctors who blew her off. This doctor is for real, he said he was ordering an MRI immediately. Now it's been over a week with poor care and she is still suffering, but where is sharp? Hiding behind the curtain because they don't even know what to say about their malpractice. Very unfortunate south bay sharp facilities have fallen apart. read more

If I could leave 0 I would! I know nothing will be done with this complaint but if one person reads it and decides to go somewhere else then I did something good! I was in the ER last night. I was sent from the urgent care. My symptoms were similar to appendicitis and the doctor at the UC wanted to make sure so he sent me to the ER. The nurse who seen me immediately told me the medication I was taking can cause stomach issues. He obviously determined in his mind it was from that. He then told the intake nurse to order all these test including an MRI and to keep me in the waiting room. I watched all these people go to the back with symptoms less than mine and get beds. I told him when I got there I had been in bed for 3 days so I hadn't sat or walked much. My fatigue and body aches were very bad. Well there I sat for 3 hours in a chair. They had me walking back and forth to go to the back to do labs. They took me back to get ex-rays. They obviously were not concerned it was my appendix because there was no rush at all. I asked the nurse at the front to please have my IV removed (which is a whole mother painful story). I told her I was in pain, I could not sit in the chairs anymore it was painful. She told me they were not going to put me in a bed at all. She said all my orders were going to be completed and I would stay in the waiting room. I asked the guy who did my MRI if he was going to take out my IV which was hooked up to nothing, he said no. I returned from the MRI and told my boyfriend please take me home. I would rather take it out myself and be able to lay in bed and rest while I was in pain then be there one more second. I returned home, took out my IV and crawled in bed. This was around 10:30pm, at 3am I get a knock at my door. Two police men!!! They were sent to make sure I wasn't using my IV to take drugs!!! (That's what the ER nurse said when I called them furious!!). Are you kidding me??? I am a business woman, I have good insurance that they bill for every tissue! I looked terrible I'm sure because I was in bed for a few days in pain. But how dare you judge me! How dare you leave. Me in a chair for hours because a nurse who spent 3 minutes with me determined it was from the medication and not an emergency. This place is the worst I have ever been treated in my life! The police coming to my door was so embarrassing! Being told they needed to make sure that I wasn't using drugs with the cheap price of crap that hurt so bad hanging in my arm! So terrible!!! Sharp has a phenomenal customer service personnel I need to mention especially Mary Ann on the phone and Gaby (schedulers) without them I would be out of my medicine thanks to them I was able to see a Doctor the very next day and Doctor Ho Bao was able to get my prescription sent to their pharmacy downstairs and was filled immediately thank you!!! Hooray for Sharp personnel team performance efficiency!!! I recommend Sharp's excellence care of patients. Stay away from Occupational Medicine if your job allows it choose somewhere else... Simple drug tests (2 minutes max) for work are minimum 2 hours waits, and they don't let you schedule appointments for them. 2 times this happened and 2 times too many. Staff is in helpful and gives false time frames on purpose. Every time I ask it's 15 min more, 30 min later or " your next" it'll be another 10 min... This is the best pharmacy I have EVER used!!!! I have been going here after struggling with big name pharmacies that could not give me enough time to navigate complex medications. Not only are they super kind, they are caring! The pharmacists will talk to you, the staff will actually help you find whatever you need. Today this pharmacy helped me find a prescription they didn't have at another pharmacy (it is a bit difficult to find) made phone calls, called me back and kept me informed! I Have been with sharp for Years and it seems that this pharmacy is always staffed with people who are rude. I know that it is always busy and people don't need to be in a happy mood every single day. But my goodness this pharmacy has people serving patients there medication and they are just so rude. Not friendly at all. I hate calling for my refills and having to speak to a person. I would rather call and leave a message so that I don't have to deal with them. Why do people who have a customer service job have this kind of attitude. Find another job. Came here twice for a drug test and the staff on the second floor were the worst think it was Occupational Medical services. The first day I came I waited 3hrs and they ended up closing on me saying "come back tomorrow or you can go to another location but all the locations are closed at the moment". So that was useless. I had to take off another day so I can come in right when they opened. I spoke with the same ladies at the front desk they remembered me but when I first checked in they greeted me with "Youre going to have to wait but we may not get to you again" please note they had just opened. Seeing others check in for drug tests and getting it done before me when "drug tests are walk ins" but ive been sitting here for 4hrs to pee in a cup. Asked whats the approximate wait time and said "Cant give you a time since we may not get to you" but when others came in after me they were quoting "30mins". I came in when there were five people here now people are pouring in and now I have no choice but to wait. Please just make sure the managers and staff have better customer service. I waited quietly and patiently but for people who have a life be transparent and fair. This is my first time at Sharp but I know for sure I wouldnt want them as a provider if there customer service was so bad and a simple drug test couldnt go smoothly. read more

I am beyond disgusted with the way sharp Rees stealy treats patients. This institution is not in it to help patients, they're in it to generate funds. I pretty much have to make an individual appt for anything that may be wrong with my health. To get ahold of the doctor I have to go through 9 different people through a voicemail tag game. To see the doctors I have to wait 30mins to an hour. Once I get to see a doctor it's briefly for a few minutes. What happened to Sharp Healthcare? I have had two doctors from this group and both were a complete disasters. I'm unfortunate enough that I have to see doctors on a regular basis for many years now. Both of these doctors lied and refused to call back when things go wrong, and something always goes wrong. I saw no caring and the last time, when I was dealing with a large kidney stone, I finally had to call a different doctor and wait another 3 months for an appointment. I have been with Sharp Rees Stealy for years and tonight 11/4/16 I had the worst service. I felt ill and my husband forced me to go to urgent care. We got to the office at 7:50 PM they close at 8:00 PM. The representative checked me in and I went to the back with the RN. The RN asked me why I was in and I explained headache, numbness on the left side of my face, ear pain and neck pain. She asked if I had any chest pains my husband says yes she been having chest pains off and on for a week now. She stated we would have to do an EKG to ensure everything is ok. She left our room and went into the hall where , another nurse was passing by , the nurse asked my nurse my symptoms ; she states my symptoms and when she mentioned the chest pain the other woman shouted very loudly OLD GOODNESS(my door was closed and I can hear them) They both start to laugh and the nurse that asked about my symptoms states you're nice it wouldn't be me. When my nurse came back into the room I immediately asked what was the nurse name that said OLD GOODNESS when she told her my symptoms and she try to explain it was a joke because during the last hours of the day the doctor always get seriously sick patients. I explained I was offended and needed a number to call someone to make a compliant. The charge nurse came in and apologized and stated they didn't mean to offend me. Doctor came in check me did some test and advised me I was having an anxiety which is causing me to have the sharp headache the numbing. My chest pains is due to stress which is called costrocondridas. He prescribed a shot in my buttocks and anti inflammatory to relax. I sat there for 15 mins to get the medication. The doctor came back end, asked me to follow up with my primary doctor but should also contact psychiatric doctor. I'm completely confused at this point. I'm far from crazy, stressed, anxiety yes but definitely not crazy. I asked the doctor if he could order my prescriptions that are needed he said ok but don't think it was done. The RN comes back in as I thought she was going to give me my discharged papers. She says we're all done. Didn't mention the medicine had been order and didn't provide discharge documents. I don't know the doctors name the nurse name or the charge nurse. I use to prays the great ethic Sharps had and how they cater and love their clients. Well I guess I'm wrong; they need to know if urgent care patients don't show there's no jobs for them!!! The mild sick patients are keeping Urgent care open. I'm a Regional Manager at Caliber Home Loans and I would never refer people to the urgent care Chula Vista. I would go to Emergency which is closer to my home in Otay Ranch. As the name suggests, this is an urgent care clinic, so appointments are unnecessary. I dropped by here in the spur of the moment about three weeks ago since I had strep throat that bothered me for a couple of weeks. That meant I had to go through paperwork as a first-time patient, but the receptionist was very friendly and prompt, made sure I was doing ok during my wait, and apologized to me a couple of times for the long wait. I understood the two-hour wait since I dropped by during lunch, not early, and it was still the flu/cold season. During my visit, I was asked twice if I wanted water, once from a nurse and again from the doctor who examined me. A 2nd nurse was just as kind as everyone else who accomodated me. She and the doctor gave me simple, but thorough tips to treat my symptoms. I loved the overall hospitality of the staff. A bonus: one of the nurses called my cell phone two days after my visit to see how I was doing! That's the first time I received medical service that topnotch! Hopefully, the Sharp clinic in Otay Ranch is as great as this place. read more

I started going with Dr. Min Zhao for my thyroid. She is a nice lady but has never really helped. I had BV for months and her conclusion (without testing him) was that I was allergic to my bf's semen and kept giving me antibiotics. (I cured it with herbs, but she was causing me some relationship problems). I later had throat infections (tested negative for strep and mono) and antibiotics never worked (cured it oregano oil and apple vinegar cider). I went with her because of sudden weight gain (thyroid related issues) and felt heart palpitations. She said heart palpitations are normal. Also said to "try harder" to lose weight. Compared herself by saying she also has to try hard because she had a baby and needed to lose that baby weight. I had initially walked in frustrated and walked out even more frustrated. I am changing doctors. I don't need nice, or made up conclusions, I need efficiency. read more

I went to take a urine test and I waited over an hour. I went to the front desk twice to make sure they remember me but nothing. Occupational Medicine is the worst it's on the third floor. When I first arrived the waiting room only had 8 people but an hour later it's only me and one or two people that trickled in and still nothing. So another 10 minutes I was finally seen. I almost filled the cup up But the nurse was nice and let me use the bathroom first. read more

SENIOR PATIENTS BEWARE!! During my last routine Dr's visit the Sharp appointments desk representative told me my Dr wanted me to set up an eye Dr's appointment to have my eyes check for any diabetic eye damages. I told the rep my insurance didn't cover eye exams. The Sharp rep told me not to worry about it because my Medicare benefits would cover it. To make a long story short, it turns out that what the rep told me was incorrect! And now I'm being charged $275 for that eye exam--it would have been over $300 as I was told that my share of the cost was $35. I paid that amount the day of the exam. I contacted the Sharp Rees Stealy billing dept and complained about what had happened and after arguing back and forth with the billing rep, I told her I wanted to file a complaint and have someone review the issue. The rep told me someone would call me back to discuss the problem. It has now been 3 weeks and no one has called. However, I got a bill threatening to send me to collections if the bill is not paid! This is outrageous! not only was I lied to, I was also not told what the cost of eye exam. I denied the opportunity to decide if I wanted to or could afford to pay that amount. This is not good patient/customer service!! It is time to take this issue to the next level!! read more

Rating this for the lab. I go to my primary Doc here who is amazing. But for the staff in the lab, be careful and prepared for inexperienced. The phlebotomist who took my blood was very inexperienced and caused me much stress and discomfort (was in there for my first prenatal blood drawing). After trying to find my vein and fishing around with the needle, he stopped when I cried out in pain. Then went for a butterfly needle and instead of trying again, decided it would be best to draw blood from the vein by my elbow. Unbelievable. Instant bruise and a horrible bruise that has everyone concerned and questioning. FYI the picture taken 2 min ago and blood drawing was 4 days ago. read more

I get really nervous & sweat when I need to get needle shots & she definitely made me feel really comfortable & calm. I've taken so many lab tests the last few 3 years, & it's hard to find a person who can take your labs at ease. She was able to do that & I didn't feel one bit when she poke that needle in my arm! I have been a patient here for over 19 years. I've always received the best care possible. Until today. I couldn't see my regular doctor and was seen by someone else. Her nurse Maria was not friendly, empathetic or even gave me any eye contact. I'm in severe pain and this woman is just "doing her job" and not going anywhere near above the service I'm used too. From the moment that Miss Tiffany checked me in (and then mentioned to me that I had been paying a co-pay when it was unnecessary) to Miss Stephanie, the cool rock-a-billy chick who did my vitals to Dennis who walked me over to x-ray and then Miss Marlee who took those x-rays, my entire experience at Sharp today was UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!! In fact, the customer service was so good, it was surreal, very surreal. When was the last time you went anywhere where the folks who helped you seemed happy to be there and were genuinely nice? When???? When I walked in with my gimpy, sure-it-was-broken painful ankle, I was treated professionally, respectfully and pleasantly. I apologize for not remembering the Dr's. name but he was also very kind, very tall and handsome (blue eyes.) Oh yeah, mama might be old but she ain't blind!! I was offered an ice pack by Miss Stephanie, a wheelchair to get to the x-ray dept by Dennis and it was just an all around awesome experience. I almost felt guilty that I didn't have something more serious than my busted up old lady ankle. The only bummer is that I happen to work for a non profit in the health world and there is NO WAY IN HELL that our employees, or most of them anyway act as genuine and professional as these folks. So, where can I sign most of them up for your fantastic customer service training? Btw, I usually go the Sharp Urgent care in La Mesa but was working today and could not wait because of the pain. Every time I've been here for my work related injury the receptionist women are always talking amongst themselves and totally ignore me as I stand there waiting for one of them to acknowledge me. But of course I have to wait until they're done yapping. Their customer service skills suck!! My daughter had a fever and teething issues, so we drove down here all the way from La Jolla because it was the first available appointment. Our appointment was scheduled at 3:30pm, and here I am drafting this review in the waiting room at 5:15pm. This place is dirty and reminds me that if I have a second kid, I'm going to go back to Scripps!
