I used to come here back when Dr. Shipp still worked here. He was awesome by the way. Now, our baby's pediatrician is here- Dr. Hall. He has a very chill personality which is great for first time mom's like me. Staff here is very nice including Dr. Hall's nurse. Dr. Hall also is very reassuring that we can usually get seen for a same day appointment if needed (if not by him by one of the on-staff doctors). I believe he also does evening clinic hours on a certain day of the week. Dr. Hall also does rotations at Sharp Mary Birch and our baby was seen by Dr. Jenson and Dr. Hall- both of which are great, while in the hospital. read more

I made an appointment to come in for their travel clinic on a Tuesday. Came in and was greeted nicely, filled out some forms, you know, the usual dance. The nurse came in took my vitals and asked me a few questions then the doctor consulted me on my trip and the risks and steps I should take. Walked out with a few prescriptions and a better picture of how I should handle potential hazards during my travel plans. All in all it took an hour. If you just want a small session to prep you for travel, its informative and puts your mind at ease. read more

The care and following up is very poor. You have to call a central number and wait in line for 10-20 minutes, before anyone responds and then they take your message and you have to hope that someone from your doctor's office will get back to you within 24-48hours. That is the worst service one can get. I am very disappointed and The billing department works on time with hundreds of dollars for little services they do. But, following up, making customers feel ok and setting up appointments really needs major work to be even a standard. I am not sure why the Sharp advertises all over and spend so much money and they don't care of their patients. It is so painful to be a patient at Sharp. read more

This medical office is pretty fabulous. I have been going here with the progeny units for about 4 years and recently started to go here for my own health care. I have Dr Martin and Danielle as my care team. Yaye! The news you can use: Fast service! I needed to get a physical for my new insurance and I was in there under a week. Any time I have had a health concern for me or the progeny we are in that week and things are taken care of tout suite. Seriously this is not the big box healthcare where you can't see your healthcare team for 4 months and they pack everyone who wants to be seen sooner in the ER for 12 hours. This review is strictly for the facility and Dr. Barkley and her staff. I recently moved to San Diego and found this facility through my insurance group. When I went in for my first appointment, I had been without insurance the previous few months. So, I was in need of a couple of prescriptions. Dr. Barkley's nurse was fantastic. Very friendly, and took the time to get to know me. Dr. Barkley did the same thing. She spent a good amount of time with me, going over my history, etc. She also knew that my insurance was fighting the payment of a certain drug, and she did everything she could to prove to my insurance that I needed this particular drug. In addition, she herself actually called me to follow up 2 days later. It's not very often that you get a call from your actual doctor. She has since followed up with me via Sharp's email system and has been extremely on top of this issue. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with Dr. Barkley and this facility. They have been fantastic!!! read more

I've had a poor experience with them so far and won't be going to Sharp Hospitals anymore. The facilities look nice at least, but the actual care seems to be poor. The billing shows up a good month after appointments and is super disorganized (and I have been charged hundreds of dollars for simple blood work with Insurance), so it's a pain to track and find out what you're billed for and doesn't have itemized charges online. But all hospital billing is somewhat disorganized, so that is to be expected. My biggest complaint was that I was ill for 3+ months in a row and the doctor seemed more interested in having me come back week after week for one test at a time. I wouldn't hear any follow up, so I would have to come back in again for another test and get charged for another appointment. The doctor seemed rushed and uninterested, and would prescribe anti-biotics like it's a fix all. I would have preferred having all my blood work + testing done at once to try and figure out a diagnoses to possible help me. I never got any diagnose or suggestions to help me after around six or seven trips to the doctor/lab I switched doctors, found out I had a series of food intolerances after one visit, and got better. Definitely better options and people who care a bit more out there for you. read more

Wow, this place is a complete 180 degree turnaround from the Chula Vista Rees-Stealy facility. I just switched over to this clinic, and so far I am extremely impressed. They had a staff member sit with me while I filled out the medical records transfer forms, making sure all my questions were answered. Also, when I was there I asked about my daughter's illness, and right away a nurse came out to answer all my questions. They even worked to get my daughter in the same day. My daughter and I were going to Sharp Carmel Valley for the last year while we lived in the area. We have since moved away, but had a pleasant experience at this Sharp clinic location. The location is very handy since it's close to the 5 and 56 freeways, and is also within a large area of shops and restaurants. The staff has always been very friendly and professional. The wait however, has varied from 10 mins to 30+ mins for me, making it difficult when you have a whining toddler. The doctor are nice however, and they do take the time to chat with you as long as you need them, which is nice. If you are a Sharp patient, I would recommend this location. It's often quiet in the mornings and they do have several pediatric and general physicians - which makes appointments and trips easy for moms with little ones. read more

First things first, Dr. Martin is great. I have no problems with the physician. But, Sharp Rees-Stealy Billing is horrible. I have an errant billing code and called the (858) 499-2410 number on prominently located on the bill. On my first call, I was told to call my insurance company and have them set up a conference with with Sharp so that we can resolve the issue. Sounds good, so I called my insurance company who called Sharp to set up the call. My insurance company spoke to Jennifer who said that they can't do a conference call. Sounds like Sharp lied. On my second call, I spoke to Lillian. Now the story is that I have to call the doctor to ask why they billed it that way. I ask for the number. Apparently Lillian doesn't know the phone numbers for me resolve the issue. Sounds like Sharp is incompetent. So, I call the number on the website and find my way to the Business Service Representative for Dr. Martin, Rosita. She seems nice and said, they'll contact the nurse to have the nurse call me back to explain everything. So, three calls and no answers. And after 2 infuriating hours, I think I a bit closer to an answer. The funny thing is that when I have the same problem at Scripps Clinic, their billing department say, "we'll start an investigation and let you know." One call and I'm taken care of. If you have a billing problem at Sharp Rees-Stealy, skip the billing department and call your doctor directly. You'll end up there anyway. read more

I have been with Sharp for 20 years, they have been good until now. just got diagnosed with pre-diabetes ... Sharp offered some informational classes. The classes were unprofessional, and you could have done better by going online and googling diabetes. Very disappointed. Yesterday was my first time here, but I had a great experience. Yvonne at the front desk was very nice, and another very nice person (so sorry- can't remember the name, a woman who said she normally works in the Rancho Bernardo office) registered me into the system and took my palm scan (fancy). But what really made me want to write a review was my actual visit. I scheduled an appointment to meet with the OBGYN NP Tracy Hite. She was very informative and knowledgeable, but not at the cost of great bedside manner. I felt she really took a great interest in getting to know me a little better to make me feel more comfortable, and she was very patient in answering all of my questions, never making me feel nervous that I might ask something dumb. I'm glad I went to see her, because she made a (super) awkward situation a lot more comfortable. I was really happy that I had someone who wasn't standoffish and cold but rather someone who was a perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism. read more

I have been going to Doctor Jennifer Berngard for a couple of months now, and she is the best doctor I've had in a while. It is so refreshing to finally have a doctor that genuinely cares about me and does whatever she can to make me feel better. I always come out of my appointments feeling a hundred times better than when I went in. Her nurse is also amazing (I believe her name is Alexandra?); they are an incredible team. Dr. Berngard is very accessible, both over the phone and on FollowMyHealth. Every time I want to schedule an appointment, I am always able to receive one within just one or two days. Many times I've gone, I've brought up multiple health issues I am having and she always addresses each issue. She never rushes me and is incredibly patient during our appointments. She is a doctor that seriously cares about her patients. read more

Couldn't be more happy about my visit. The waiting room is spacious and no where near overbooked. The medical assistant was very nice. You could tell all the staff did all the little things to make you feel more comfortable and welcome. My favorite part of the visit was my interaction with Dr. Matthew Messoline. The last medical visit i had was with another provider. She spent less than 5 minutes with me and was in such a rush I didn't feel very cared for. Dr. Messoline was very different. He spent the whole 15 minutes with me. He was very personable, friendly, and understanding. He went above and beyond to find the best referral source and to find me the lowest prices for my medications. He let me know I was welcome to use the patient portal at any time to communicate with him. Normally doctors don't use the portal at all or at least don't advocate it. I would say this was up there in one of the highest quality medical visits I have received. This Sharp is doing something right. read more

Dr. Barkley and her staff is wonderful and keeps me well informed on what tests and vaccines I have done and what I need to get done upon my first visit to my primary care doctor at Sharp. Dr. Barkley is friendly and energetic and nurse Cassie offered me water when they are so busy. The receptionists are friendly and efficient. There is a bit of wait time in the doctor's office and the reception area, so plan accordingly. I am really starting to like this facility! read more

This review is for both Dr. Rachel Klien and Dr. Rebecca Preziosi at Sharp Carmel valley location and whom I had a very disappointing treatment experiences with recently. A week ago, I started bad coughing and sore throat and I knew it was caused by my two young kids as they were both given antibiotics prescriptions by their pediatrician due to same coughing lasting for almost two weeks and the Z pak worked very well to stop the cough for my kids. My pediatrician also suggested me see my own family dr to check my symptoms as I likely need the same prescriptions to treat my cough. On last Tuesday I saw Dr.Preziosi and described what has happened to my kids and my symptoms, but she determined that I should not take any medication and I have to wait for another 5 days to let the symptoms go away by itself! Although I doubted her diagnosis and ignoring the facts of my two kids' medication being used, she insisted on letting me go home with no prescriptions given. Then after 2 days only, as expected I started very bad constant coughing at night and can't sleep at all and also had lots of nose discharge and cough to spit a lot. I had to call SHARP again to ask for prescription on Friday but no Dr returned to my message. Finally I was lucky enough to get the help from my other Dr friend who called in pharmacy to request prescription for the Z pak which worked very well and relieve my cough immediately after I took the medicine. To double make sure I got recovered from the cough and no risk for getting pneumonia, I scheduled a follow-up appointment with Dr Klien yesterday to do further check. Ironically, Dr Klien is the same condescending as Dr. Preziosi. Dr Klien asked me "if you feel better why you come back to see us again?" what the hack why I come back again?? If I knew you are such a rude Dr, I will never want to see you!! Dr Preziosi has been my primary dr for the last 7 years. I don't see her too often as I'm relatively healthy but every time seeing her is not a pleasant experience because I don't feel she is willing to listen to her patients and she tries to push the diagnostic process and conversations to end as quickly as she can. I definitely would not recommend her to anyone who is looking for a truly caring and qualified Dr. read more

Everything you want from a medical facility is here at Carmel Valley. The doctors here really do everything they can to help you!
