Beautiful park! As others have mentioned: hidden gem in the intersection of Menlo Park with Atherton. I was looking to visit a park that I haven't visited before and searched Yelp to surprise me. Sharon park is so peaceful and pleasant. There are numerous benches that somehow look private and allow the visitors to enjoy the views to the pond and the fish. It is very relaxing and judging from the people taking naps in the grass and the families gathered in picnics and reading books. Social distance respected by everybody. I didn't see any bathrooms, so that is the only minus.

Truly a hidden gem ! Great scenic park for an evening stroll or a Sunday picnic. The lake, ducks and fish add a picturesque backdrop to some beautiful photo opportunities. The best part is that its not crowded and peaceful. The park is surrounded by houses and trees so its also relatively less windy here. Highly recommended for an evening photo session :)

Absolutely stunning!!! Come with your family/ loved ones and take a nice stroll. It's absolutely stunning. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon it on Memorial Day. I would say there were about 15-20ish people. Everyone was very polite. It takes about 5 minutes to walk around it, so be prepared to have a conversation while walking. There are benches everywhere. What to bring: a bottle of water. Comfortable shoes. Food for a picnic. Food if you'd like to feed the fish. Sunblock Bicycles for kids to go around in. Lastly, I would recommend bribing a nice kindle to read or an audiobook. Look forward to coming again. Ps: walk clockwise :)

Great park for picnic. It's easy to find with plenty of parking space. Lots of mature trees for shades and grass area to run around. Highly recommend!

A beautiful little park with a nice paved walking trail around a cute pond. There is a playground for the children, there are many picnic tables to sit and enjoy a meal, and there are big trees all around to provide shade or even a nice place to hang a hammock. What more could you ask for?

Beautiful park. There are lot of benches where you can sit and enjoy the view of the lake, fishes and turtles.

Okay, I hate to bring attention to this park because it is an AMAZING hidden gem for weddings, but for the sake of keeping the park there and for brides that are on a budget I write! If you're looking for a venue for your wedding/event for 200+ guests in the bay area on a sunday and you're not going to get a better deal by booking your ceremony and reception in the same place (most golf course, etc venues require that you hold your reception at their place if you want to have your ceremony there as well), then this is your place. We searched high and low and all over to find a park that would make our wedding magical, elegant, natural and beautiful. This was it. The pros: the venue charges are minimal $150 to reserve. And there is no limit to how many can be there, there is street parking and you can do your photo shoots on location. Working with City of Menlo Park means you get fair, and good service. Not people for profit. The neighborhood is rich, so this lends to the atmosphere that your guests are in a safe place, enjoying a nice neighborhood. The cons: if you are having an event, this means you need to secure your own vendors and bring everything in yourself. We had chairs, made our own gazebo and decorated it with chandeliers, chiffon, hanging glass beads, etc. tables, etc. Also for amplified ceremonies, you need to get a noise permit for another $150. Plus no restroom so we rented the restroom from the church up a block. So when we added everything up it came to about $1000-$1200. Plus, we had an army of the most amazing friends helping put everything up. Seriously, it was amazing and worth it. Lastly, if saturdays this place is crazy busy. We were there for our rehearsal on Sat (which we didn't need to pay extra to reserve, just worked out with the park manager what time the reserved party would be there and stayed out of their time block), and there was a wedding and a quincenera photo shoot and us all at once! It's big though so there's plenty of room and people are generally respectful and stay out of photos and give lots of room for ceremonies. Sunday was just us. Other places in the bay for 200+: Pulgas Water Temple (only available on saturdays for events, but GORGEOUS and also owned by public parks) and Burlingame golf course (about $1000 chairs, gazebo, restroom and parking all included. Plus they set up for you. I didn't choose this option because my brother had his wedding ceremony there three years ago =) ) Hope this helps!

The name of the park is derived from contractor Martin Wunderlich, who donated the land to San Mateo County. The Good: * Free to visit * Parking lot * Picnic tables available * Restroom in parking lot * Seventeen miles of trails, including several loops. * If you like horses, then this is the place for you! There's a really cool old historic stable and lots of equine action to be found. * Camping available (https://www.smcgov.org/parks/make-reservation) The Meh: * Currently, no recreational horse activities like trail rides and lessons are available. * Crazy elevation gains, as trail elevations run from ±350' to over 4,300'. Be sure to check the trail guides to make sure you don't get in over your head. * No dogs allowed The Ugly: * The restroom has no running water, just hand sanitizer. * I'll admit, I'm not a fan of horses, and having to share trails with horses isn't my idea of a good time. Conclusion: Not the biggest park in this area that's full of fantastic OSPs, but it's certainly worth a visit--especially if you're a hippophile.
